2. Personal response
• Based on our story that we have read, the
short story namely as Birthday by its writer
namely M. Shanmugalingam has pro and
contra. In this personal response we give
response about its story plot, morale, theme,
and ending part of the story. We also would
like to give developing criticism.
3. Personal response
• First of all, we consider that the short stories
from Indian cultural races, such as showing
their lifestyle especially from small scope in
short stories, about Indian families and their
expectation about their will baby descendant
heir. Judging for the story that we have read,
we have a few of our opinion that we have
struggle to detecting themes of short story,
we feel not happy.
4. Personal response
• When we read this short stories we think
member of family in this short story compare
themselves each other and between themselves
with will new baby. Actually we almost like
watching scenario that really happen in this story
to can make our response positively thinking and
more understanding. In our start, we cannot
identify theme and characters attribute in this
story. After we read in a few repetitive times,
finally we can get what we want.
5. Personal response
Our consclusion is:-
• When a mother give birth she gamblers her life
and she giving ultimate sacrifice. For a first time,
she carry out her baby during a duration of
pregnancy.
• During pregnancy, a mother has to overcome
many difficulty such as mostly concern of her
health and her baby. Member of family can be
more tolerance and responsible to their new
member namely as will new baby.
