Preparing High School Students For College Essay
Preparing high school students for college is every parent and teachers goal but sometimes that goal
is hard to achieve. Students are not getting a proper education now–a–days and they do not realize
that it is going to hurt them after they graduate. A study says, "That composite score dropped to 20.9
among high school students in 2013, the lowest in eight years" (Adams, 2013). That is a very low
average and it is because what students are learning in high school just isn't sticking with them
through college. After students graduate they start taking harder classes, some have to start
paying their own bills, and so many other changes they are not ready for. It is a big jump to go
from high school to college and I think schools can do a better job of preparing students. It is
their experience and education in high school that is going to help them in college. If they are
not ready they are going to struggle which will result in some not so good outcomes such as
having low grades or even worse dropping out. I do not believe that high school education has
prepared students for college because there are many useless classes, it is more about memorizing
than learning, and students drop out in a year or less because of the workload. Many high schools
have requirements for students about what classes they need to take in order to graduate. Some
students have a little bit of say in what they get to take but there are a lot that do not. Classes are
not picked based off of interest,

Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students
With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have
dropped out of school and feel that their life now seems meaningless. Their determination or will
power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or
succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because
of their parents' wishes for them to receive a diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and
frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more

Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing
fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more
interesting.
Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their
likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject.
Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should
consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high
school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students
show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to
learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are
excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take
place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They
are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and
what some of their greater skills may be. As acknowledge in the article "How to Motivate High
School Students," "By allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a way
that appeals to their strengths, you're giving them a chance

The transition from high school into college is undoubtedly a very important time in the lives of
many young people. It is a huge step, and a huge change. There are some who cling to their fading
high–school life, reluctant to let go and move on. Many of my friends would fall under this
category. Some of them seem more prepared for the increasingly near future than others, and they
will have varying degrees of success in beginning their college experience, be it near home or hours
away. But Natalie is different than they are. Rather than getting caught up in the sentimentality of it
all, she is embracing the looming future with open arms.
Natalie Rogers is ready to move on. She is an 18–year–old senior at Coleman High School, and she
feels absolutely prepared to move into the next stage of her life. This puts her in the national
minority. According to a country–wide survey, 45% of high school seniors feel prepared for college
and a career. She's not alone, however, in looking forward to the freedom and independence
generally associated with college life. "I'm really excited that I get to be on my own, make a lot of
my own decisions, and kind of learn how to be independent. Because I haven't gotten a lot of that".
One thing that has become apparent to me is the value that Natalie places on independence.
However, in certain situations, she does consider herself to be dependent on others, sometimes very
much so. I asked her if she considered herself to be an independent

High School Volunteering Essay
Do you you think students should be required to volunteer in their communities to receive their
high school diplomas? I for one do not think you should be required to volunteer for your
community in order to get your diploma. In my eyes no one should be forced to volunteer to do
anything however, volunteering does teach responsibility and builds character. Volunteering for
something on your own shows what type of person you are however, being forced to volunteer isn't
really volunteering. I do not feel like you should be forced to volunteer for your community in order
to get a high school diploma but I do think volunteering is a good thing to do.
Volunteering for something is usually something you want to do, you do not volunteer for something

My Journey As A High School Student Essay
At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I
had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a
studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was
excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was
necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to
learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the
judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into
groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two
combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done,
we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally,
the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the
cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had
made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp,
or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located
in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month
before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach

My Future Plans For High School
In a few months, I will make a huge decision that will help determine my future.
I have many plans for high school; such as what classes I will take and what clubs I will join. But
first I Have to take the entrance exams
I have been studying for the high school entrance exams since the beginning of summer. My mom
bought me three big texts books that will help with the High School Placement Test, Independent
School Entrance Exam, and Secondary School Admission Test. Recently I have started going to a
tutor that specializes in preparing students for the exams.
I am applying for schools. My first one is Charter School of Wilmington. It is my first choice
because it is two minutes from my house, so I would ride my bike. Also, it specializes in science
which is my favorite subject, they are attached to an art school, which I also like to do, they have
a good tennis team, and it is free. Archmere is my second choice. I like it there because it has a
large campus that has buildings that are spread out like a college. Tower Hill is my third choice
because it is next to my neighborhood. Also Tower Hill doesn't specialize in a specific subject it is
an all–around school with art, music, math, science, and many more subjects. Friends is my fourth
choice. I don't know much about Friends but i've heard it's a good school and will prepare for
college. Padua is my backup school in case I don't get accepted into any other school. I am
interested in Padu because I have only heard

High School Graduation Essay
Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always
something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be
graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed.
Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like
it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays of
sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly
dragged my limp body out of...show more content...
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All
the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I
promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and
let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying
to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the
bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the
mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that
we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready,
and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars.
Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started
giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around
at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the
principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in
two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up
and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Why High Schools Should Go Straight Into College
All around the world the expectation out of high school is you need to go straight into college
/university and you need to know what your major is after your first year. Most high schools will
focus on a local college or university that is close and has the best interest in the students, but
sometimes they focus on the school that they get benefits from so when a school focuses on a local
college it may not be the place for you because regardless and in most cases your high school
schedule and the classes you take are based on that local college or university so if you like high
school and think it gets you ready for that school more power to you but overall high schools
definitely push students into local colleges.
To start off should high schools require students to take college level classes at the end of their
high school career? In most places schools will have students take college level classes their senior
year to prepare them for college what these classes end up doing is cause them to under estimate
college because the classes that are taunt are dumbed down to be high school ready. But the exact
opposite can happen and students are put through a class that a high school student would not be
prepared for causing students to fail and not graduate.
One of the biggest reasons why college and university counseling services are seeing an increase in
the number of people requesting help and in the severity of their cases is simply that more people
are now attending

Essay on My Senior Year of High School
Having spent twelve years of my school life in just one small red brick building, the years tend to
fade into each other. But the year I remember most clearly and significantly is my senior year of
high school, where I finally began to appreciate what this institution offered to any student who
stopped to look. Before, school had been a chore, many times I simply did not feel motivated toward
a subject enough to do the homework well, and seeing the same familiar faces around ever since I
was 5 years old grew very tiring soon enough. But I began to see things from a different angle once I
became a senior.
First of all, there are roughly only 800 students in my entire school, from kindergarten up to
upperclassmen and women, and my...show more content...
Teachers came in a variety. Some were genuinely interested in what they were teaching us, and
some seemed even more bored than the students themselves. But for the most part, all the teachers
cared about each student as an individual, and would always greet you in the hall or ask how you
were doing. As I entered 12th grade, I began to notice a change in my classes– most of the time,
there was more emphasis on participating in discussions than just completing homework exactly to
the mark. For instance, my AP English class solely focused on debates over what we were reading,
to the extent where everyone, both students and teacher, had a particular view to express.
My school's philosophy on teaching was to turn out well–rounded individuals who did their work,
and everyone was treated equally. The only exceptions were that since my school was very
focused on athletics, kids who played a lot of sports seemed to be the most popular with teachers,
while the abilities of drama students and musicians seemed almost entirely overlooked. Also,
because of the small size of the school, once you gained a reputation it really stuck to you, so there
was definitely a difference between how the "slackers" and the "responsible" ones were treated by
teachers.
In 12th grade, everything seemed to come together for the departing seniors, and I noticed a change
come over us. For once,

My Growth Is A High School Student
My Growth Essay Being a high school student in the tenth grade things a bit hectic all the tests and
book reports I have to do I always get caught up in my school work. Since my school life consists of
nothing but essays, keynotes, benchmarks and free response questions. Never anything less than
teachers pressing on about double spaces, sentence patterns and "Where to put the semi–colon." I
have never really noticed that they fail to teach or lecture me about unique writing skills until I
got into this class. "Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle." That
quote was from Napoleon Hill and it means more than enough to me because I thrive everyday to
succeed in life and over the years and through this class I've learned, Growth and success are the
key things. I have learned that if you put effort into all you do that you'll be surprised with what
the outcome may be. That you can start now because you're never too old or too young to learn
how to succeed and have a successful life. When I first started ACA 115 I didn't know what to
expect, I was honestly really scared I was going to fail. I wasn't prepared for it because I signed
up for it my Freshman year and I had forgot about it. Now that I've settled in and put in some effort
I found that it was really easy, All I had to do was just talk about different learning styles and
studying methods that work for me. This class taught me how to not forget about my budget and
how to spend not

My High School Experience Essay
When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience
everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high
school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say
they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't
say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much
about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life
meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all
these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content...
My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in
love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I
revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we
broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his
friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only
loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then
just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually
dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially
after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened
after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was
my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me
that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and
choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over
me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most
about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,

My Journey Through High School Essay
To some, four years seems like a long time, but for me the past four years have flown by. In these
quick four years, so much has changed and yet so much is exactly the same. You still go to
school with most of the same people. You walk into the same familiar building and say hello to
most of the same teachers. During these four years I have lost some friends, but I have gained real
ones, which is one of the most important things to me. My outlook on life has changed. I have
become a more open and understanding person and I have learned many valuable life lessons. I have
made many great memories and I have learned to appreciate everything I have because nothing is
permanent. My journey through high school is like a plane ride. It takes off freshman year and I go
on a long, and sometimes bumpy, journey to get to my final destination. Even though in many ways
I am still the same person as the one that walked through those school doors as a freshman, I have
also changed in order to try to become the best version of myself and get to my final destination.
Freshman year I remember walking into the school mortified, thinking that everything and anything
that could go wrong would. I had never attended a Liberty–Benton School and knew about five
people that would be in my grade. I was shy and quiet because I didn't know any of the new faces. I
was insecure about myself and thought that it would be almost impossible to make friends. Before
high school, I went to a small, private,

High School Students on the Job Essay
High school students on the job
We spend four years of our lives attending high school. Going through high school is supposed to
prepare us for college and "the real world." Throughout these four years we begin to better
understand our choices for college majors, but we don't get presented with the financial and time
struggle that we will face. College costs money, along with everyday living. Whenattending college
we become more independent and are faced with the problem of coming up with money and
finding a balance between time for work and school. Though it may seem like working through high
school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for "the real world."

It would be much more difficult to learn these things when one is dependent on themselves. It raises
the risk of struggles with money.
There are many students that have the ability to stay very focused on their educational goals. These
students tend to do very well academically and do not need a lot of stimuli to help them get moving.
There are other students who are not in the same boat. Some students become very frustrated with
the day–to–day routine of going to school. These students tend to benefit from having the option of
working outside of school. They begin to see that working hard does pay off. The feeling of
satisfaction they receive may motivate them to work harder at succeeding in school. They will
understand that though it is a lot of hard work, the more effort they put into their education, the
better off they will be. They will get higher paying jobs that suit their character if they continue to
work hard through high school and go to college.
A student's first job may not be glorious. Chances are it will be at a fast food restaurant or
department store. A student's first job will bring a self of satisfaction, but will also help to bring to
a student's attention that this is not what they want to be doing for the rest of their lives. If a student
may not be doing very well in school,

making money (Dutcher, Jay. Personal Interview). This is true especially because in our

My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as
finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be

My High School Career Essay
Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four
years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my
surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things
to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant
to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again.
I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd
learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being
lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that
yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize.
But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent
too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education.
Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not
paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things
while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my
full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this

My High School Journey
At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school,
meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and
getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and
down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't
forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had
many great times. Also as growing up throughout high school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know
this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change
again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school
journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's
important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the
end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and
that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good
colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the
graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to
sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your
homework, get good grades, and ask

My Greatest Accomplishment In High School
A Found Friend I thought I knew everything about high school then I met Da'kevus Arceneaux.
Well it was 7 o'clock in Ms. Phyllis's English 1 first hour when De'kevus Arceneaux smoothly

school changed him and helped him grow and he answered with a bright smile and clear answers.
Speaking with De'kevus, I learned more about the high school experience, coming of age and
making future plans. Da'kevus had a very good experience when it came to sports and academics.
I asked Da'kevus, "What was your biggest accomplishment in high school and how did you
accomplish it". Da'kevus answered "My biggest accomplishment is where I am now, my senior year,
you must stay focused and do what you need to do to get where you want to be.". Da'kevus excelled
very well in Track and Cross Country. Da'kevus said : I ran track because i love running.". Now I

Preparing Students for College Success

  • 1. Preparing High School Students For College Essay Preparing high school students for college is every parent and teachers goal but sometimes that goal is hard to achieve. Students are not getting a proper education now–a–days and they do not realize that it is going to hurt them after they graduate. A study says, "That composite score dropped to 20.9 among high school students in 2013, the lowest in eight years" (Adams, 2013). That is a very low average and it is because what students are learning in high school just isn't sticking with them through college. After students graduate they start taking harder classes, some have to start paying their own bills, and so many other changes they are not ready for. It is a big jump to go from high school to college and I think schools can do a better job of preparing students. It is their experience and education in high school that is going to help them in college. If they are not ready they are going to struggle which will result in some not so good outcomes such as having low grades or even worse dropping out. I do not believe that high school education has prepared students for college because there are many useless classes, it is more about memorizing than learning, and students drop out in a year or less because of the workload. Many high schools have requirements for students about what classes they need to take in order to graduate. Some students have a little bit of say in what they get to take but there are a lot that do not. Classes are not picked based off of interest, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Motivation for High School Students Essay 1 Milestone3: Motivation for High School Students Sharon Robinson Walden University 2 Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have dropped out of school and feel that their life now seems meaningless. Their determination or will power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because of their parents' wishes for them to receive a diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more content... Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting. Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and what some of their greater skills may be. As acknowledge in the article "How to Motivate High School Students," "By allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a way that appeals to their strengths, you're giving them a chance Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The transition from high school into college is undoubtedly a very important time in the lives of many young people. It is a huge step, and a huge change. There are some who cling to their fading high–school life, reluctant to let go and move on. Many of my friends would fall under this category. Some of them seem more prepared for the increasingly near future than others, and they will have varying degrees of success in beginning their college experience, be it near home or hours away. But Natalie is different than they are. Rather than getting caught up in the sentimentality of it all, she is embracing the looming future with open arms. Natalie Rogers is ready to move on. She is an 18–year–old senior at Coleman High School, and she feels absolutely prepared to move into the next stage of her life. This puts her in the national minority. According to a country–wide survey, 45% of high school seniors feel prepared for college and a career. She's not alone, however, in looking forward to the freedom and independence generally associated with college life. "I'm really excited that I get to be on my own, make a lot of my own decisions, and kind of learn how to be independent. Because I haven't gotten a lot of that". One thing that has become apparent to me is the value that Natalie places on independence. However, in certain situations, she does consider herself to be dependent on others, sometimes very much so. I asked her if she considered herself to be an independent Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. High School Volunteering Essay Do you you think students should be required to volunteer in their communities to receive their high school diplomas? I for one do not think you should be required to volunteer for your community in order to get your diploma. In my eyes no one should be forced to volunteer to do anything however, volunteering does teach responsibility and builds character. Volunteering for something on your own shows what type of person you are however, being forced to volunteer isn't really volunteering. I do not feel like you should be forced to volunteer for your community in order to get a high school diploma but I do think volunteering is a good thing to do. Volunteering for something is usually something you want to do, you do not volunteer for something Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Journey As A High School Student Essay At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done, we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally, the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp, or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Future Plans For High School In a few months, I will make a huge decision that will help determine my future. I have many plans for high school; such as what classes I will take and what clubs I will join. But first I Have to take the entrance exams I have been studying for the high school entrance exams since the beginning of summer. My mom bought me three big texts books that will help with the High School Placement Test, Independent School Entrance Exam, and Secondary School Admission Test. Recently I have started going to a tutor that specializes in preparing students for the exams. I am applying for schools. My first one is Charter School of Wilmington. It is my first choice because it is two minutes from my house, so I would ride my bike. Also, it specializes in science which is my favorite subject, they are attached to an art school, which I also like to do, they have a good tennis team, and it is free. Archmere is my second choice. I like it there because it has a large campus that has buildings that are spread out like a college. Tower Hill is my third choice because it is next to my neighborhood. Also Tower Hill doesn't specialize in a specific subject it is an all–around school with art, music, math, science, and many more subjects. Friends is my fourth choice. I don't know much about Friends but i've heard it's a good school and will prepare for college. Padua is my backup school in case I don't get accepted into any other school. I am interested in Padu because I have only heard Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. High School Graduation Essay Graduation Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of...show more content... Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Why High Schools Should Go Straight Into College All around the world the expectation out of high school is you need to go straight into college /university and you need to know what your major is after your first year. Most high schools will focus on a local college or university that is close and has the best interest in the students, but sometimes they focus on the school that they get benefits from so when a school focuses on a local college it may not be the place for you because regardless and in most cases your high school schedule and the classes you take are based on that local college or university so if you like high school and think it gets you ready for that school more power to you but overall high schools definitely push students into local colleges. To start off should high schools require students to take college level classes at the end of their high school career? In most places schools will have students take college level classes their senior year to prepare them for college what these classes end up doing is cause them to under estimate college because the classes that are taunt are dumbed down to be high school ready. But the exact opposite can happen and students are put through a class that a high school student would not be prepared for causing students to fail and not graduate. One of the biggest reasons why college and university counseling services are seeing an increase in the number of people requesting help and in the severity of their cases is simply that more people are now attending Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on My Senior Year of High School Having spent twelve years of my school life in just one small red brick building, the years tend to fade into each other. But the year I remember most clearly and significantly is my senior year of high school, where I finally began to appreciate what this institution offered to any student who stopped to look. Before, school had been a chore, many times I simply did not feel motivated toward a subject enough to do the homework well, and seeing the same familiar faces around ever since I was 5 years old grew very tiring soon enough. But I began to see things from a different angle once I became a senior. First of all, there are roughly only 800 students in my entire school, from kindergarten up to upperclassmen and women, and my...show more content... Teachers came in a variety. Some were genuinely interested in what they were teaching us, and some seemed even more bored than the students themselves. But for the most part, all the teachers cared about each student as an individual, and would always greet you in the hall or ask how you were doing. As I entered 12th grade, I began to notice a change in my classes– most of the time, there was more emphasis on participating in discussions than just completing homework exactly to the mark. For instance, my AP English class solely focused on debates over what we were reading, to the extent where everyone, both students and teacher, had a particular view to express. My school's philosophy on teaching was to turn out well–rounded individuals who did their work, and everyone was treated equally. The only exceptions were that since my school was very focused on athletics, kids who played a lot of sports seemed to be the most popular with teachers, while the abilities of drama students and musicians seemed almost entirely overlooked. Also, because of the small size of the school, once you gained a reputation it really stuck to you, so there was definitely a difference between how the "slackers" and the "responsible" ones were treated by teachers. In 12th grade, everything seemed to come together for the departing seniors, and I noticed a change come over us. For once, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Growth Is A High School Student My Growth Essay Being a high school student in the tenth grade things a bit hectic all the tests and book reports I have to do I always get caught up in my school work. Since my school life consists of nothing but essays, keynotes, benchmarks and free response questions. Never anything less than teachers pressing on about double spaces, sentence patterns and "Where to put the semi–colon." I have never really noticed that they fail to teach or lecture me about unique writing skills until I got into this class. "Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle." That quote was from Napoleon Hill and it means more than enough to me because I thrive everyday to succeed in life and over the years and through this class I've learned, Growth and success are the key things. I have learned that if you put effort into all you do that you'll be surprised with what the outcome may be. That you can start now because you're never too old or too young to learn how to succeed and have a successful life. When I first started ACA 115 I didn't know what to expect, I was honestly really scared I was going to fail. I wasn't prepared for it because I signed up for it my Freshman year and I had forgot about it. Now that I've settled in and put in some effort I found that it was really easy, All I had to do was just talk about different learning styles and studying methods that work for me. This class taught me how to not forget about my budget and how to spend not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My High School Experience Essay When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content... My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Journey Through High School Essay To some, four years seems like a long time, but for me the past four years have flown by. In these quick four years, so much has changed and yet so much is exactly the same. You still go to school with most of the same people. You walk into the same familiar building and say hello to most of the same teachers. During these four years I have lost some friends, but I have gained real ones, which is one of the most important things to me. My outlook on life has changed. I have become a more open and understanding person and I have learned many valuable life lessons. I have made many great memories and I have learned to appreciate everything I have because nothing is permanent. My journey through high school is like a plane ride. It takes off freshman year and I go on a long, and sometimes bumpy, journey to get to my final destination. Even though in many ways I am still the same person as the one that walked through those school doors as a freshman, I have also changed in order to try to become the best version of myself and get to my final destination. Freshman year I remember walking into the school mortified, thinking that everything and anything that could go wrong would. I had never attended a Liberty–Benton School and knew about five people that would be in my grade. I was shy and quiet because I didn't know any of the new faces. I was insecure about myself and thought that it would be almost impossible to make friends. Before high school, I went to a small, private, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. High School Students on the Job Essay High school students on the job We spend four years of our lives attending high school. Going through high school is supposed to prepare us for college and "the real world." Throughout these four years we begin to better understand our choices for college majors, but we don't get presented with the financial and time struggle that we will face. College costs money, along with everyday living. Whenattending college we become more independent and are faced with the problem of coming up with money and finding a balance between time for work and school. Though it may seem like working through high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for "the real world." Having...show more content... These students tend to do very well academically and do not need a lot of stimuli to help them get moving. There are other students who are not in the same boat. Some students become very frustrated with the day–to–day routine of going to school. These students tend to benefit from having the option of working outside of school. They begin to see that working hard does pay off. The feeling of satisfaction they receive may motivate them to work harder at succeeding in school. They will understand that though it is a lot of hard work, the more effort they put into their education, the better off they will be. They will get higher paying jobs that suit their character if they continue to work hard through high school and go to college. A student's first job may not be glorious. Chances are it will be at a fast food restaurant or department store. A student's first job will bring a self of satisfaction, but will also help to bring to a student's attention that this is not what they want to be doing for the rest of their lives. • 15. Sample Of Admission Essay For High School My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today. Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered high school, an injury kept me from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead...show more content... As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti–drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they could encounter. The feeling that those students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My High School Career Essay Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again. I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize. But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education. Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this point my lack of focus on my education was because of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. High School Persuasive Essay As I sat there and thought to myself what did everyone thing of me after hearing what I have done. "Taylor Bloom responsible for the deaths of 53 high school students. My head started to wander back to my high school days. In my sophomore year, I was bullied nearly every sing day by the stupid jocks. I started to hate myself so I decided to change my look. The next day I straightened my hair, put a black skirt on, and a white button up shirt with some heels, I left a few of the buttons on my shirt unbuttoned. I was making my way up to the school, I saw all eyes on me even the jocks could not take their eyes off of me. WAS I BECOMING POPULAR? Two weeks later I was the most popular girl in South Lake High. I had a tall, handsome boyfriend and my two new best friends Karli and Rebecca. Everyone wanted to be like me, everyone loved me or as I should say "worshipped me". Until one night at a party I got super intoxicated and ended up doing things I probably shouldn't have. That next day everyone was talking about it and all eyes were on me not that I am complaining, but it was not a good look they were giving me... they all knew what I had done that previous night. I did not show up for school the rest of the semester in fear I would lose my reputation so I started getting homeschooled. I went back my senior year and everyone was still talking about that stupid night at that party. I lost my two best friends Rebecca and Karli because they were embarrassed and they believed the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My High School Journey At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school, meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had many great times. Also as growing up throughout high school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your homework, get good grades, and ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Greatest Accomplishment In High School A Found Friend I thought I knew everything about high school then I met Da'kevus Arceneaux. Well it was 7 o'clock in Ms. Phyllis's English 1 first hour when De'kevus Arceneaux smoothly cruised into the classroom with a smile from ear to ear. De'kevus discussed with me how high school changed him and helped him grow and he answered with a bright smile and clear answers. Speaking with De'kevus, I learned more about the high school experience, coming of age and making future plans. Da'kevus had a very good experience when it came to sports and academics. I asked Da'kevus, "What was your biggest accomplishment in high school and how did you accomplish it". Da'kevus answered "My biggest accomplishment is where I am now, my senior year, you must stay focused and do what you need to do to get where you want to be.". Da'kevus excelled very well in Track and Cross Country. Da'kevus said : I ran track because i love running.". Now I know more about Carencro High school, I also learned more about Cross country. Da'kevus has matured so much during his years at Carencro High school. I asked Da'kevus "How has high school changed you?" he answered by saying "High School changed me because at first I was shy but it changed me to open up to people and it taught me how to speak to people, like you need to be able to speak to people for jobs and your life further beyond. • 20. When I was in high school I applied to a few different establishments and the couple times I was called in for an interview, I was a bumbling mess. The only thing I remember about my first interview was that the interviewer had to tell me multiple times to just relax and afterwards I never heard back from them. I was not prepared for that interview and it is not surprising that I did not get the job. The only reason I was able to get a job in high school was because my mom contacted a family friend who owned multiple garden centers. Once I was able enter the working world, grew more comfortable with speaking to employers and was able to feel more comfortable in my future interviews. I had interviewed at Parks library during my sophomore year of college and, while nervous, was able to present myself in a professional manor and answer question thoroughly as well as keeping them personal which aided in me getting the job. The interview for my current job, a checker at a grocery store, was the best interview yet because I was able to build a good rapport and be personal with the interviewer. Before the interview, I did a lot more research on the company and figured out what they value and expect in their employees and was able to maneuver my answers into the best light, allowing me to look like a choice candidate. My preparation helped me become more confident and I ended up hired on the spot. I still had some things I struggled with during this interview, one of them Get more content on HelpWriting.net
