My taxpaying constituents are concerned that, not including States’ spending, Medicare & Medicaid represented 19% of Total Federal Spending in 2010 or $676 Billion. <br />My state is committed to the use of innovative technology for the purposes of preventing fraud, waste, abuse, and inadequate cost (FWAIC) in the nation’s healthcare programs and a more streamlined federal government and a reduction of the deficit. - 3. innovative technology. <br />While such modern procedures and technology have been implemented in Medicare funding (i.e., provider claim reviews and audits), no such modernization has been made to Medicaid Cost Reporting (i.e., healthcare reimbursement). These implementations will sustain and thus benefit and serve the recipients of states’ long-term, financed healthcare entitlement programs.<br />I will support legislation to consolidate and clarify state and federal requirements to give CMS and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) the statutory authority to implement these needed procedural and technological changes to hospital reimbursement audits performed by the nation’s Intermediaries located in the commonwealths, states, and territories. Reforming healthcare reimbursement regulation and guidance issued by HHS, CMS, and the States is as much a top priority of mine as is creating a higher performing healthcare system, placing fraud/waste/abuse prevention over recovery, and instilling budgetary discipline.<br />On behalf of HL Consulting and JH Cohn, LLP thank you for this opportunity to apply for this grant.
