Introduction Provide the name of the not-for-profit organization
1. Introduction: Provide the name of the not-for-profit
organization on which you have chosen to perform your
strategic analysis.
The Ronald McDonald House in Macon Georgia
Explain your interest in this particular not-for-profit
organization and your rationale for selecting it for your final
project.
Being a NICU nurse these types of families are important
to me. They need a place close to the hospital to stay and so
that they can stay close to their families.
II. Mission: Why does this not-for-profit organization exist?
Who does it serve? What is its formal mission statement?
This organization exists because they believe that home is
any place where families are together. We believe that healing
happens over laughter and bedtime stories. We believe that an
island of refuge in a sea of chaos is as powerful as any
medicine. We believe in keeping families together.
The facility serves the families of those children who are
ill or in fragile state at the hospital.
Mission: It is the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities
of Central Georgia to provide care and support for families of
seriously ill, critically injured or medically fragile children
being treated at area medical facilities.
III. History: Provide a history of the not-for-profit organization.
When was it founded? By whom was it founded? How long has
it been in existence? What are some milestones related to its
growth?
When Philadelphia Eagles tight end Fred Hill’s 3-year-old
daughter, Kim, was being treated for leukemia in 1974, his life
changed. He and his wife, Fran, camped out on hospital benches
and sat in cramped waiting rooms during Kim’s three years of
3. them close in times of medical need and crisis.Since opening in
2002, we have provided comfortable beds, warm meals, hot
showers, laundry facilities, internet access, and emotional
support to over 7,500 families. When we opened our doors, we
opened our hearts as well.
Milestones: the facility is currently under construction to
expand from 13 rooms to 30 rooms.
IV. Current Position: How many offices and locations does the
not-for-profit organization serve? What is the profile of the
people it serves? What is the nature of the cause it was created
to support?
This location is the only location in Macon. There are 6
locations in Georgia. This location serves Central and South
Georgia. The people it serves come from all walks of life. There
is no specific profile. Anyone who had a child in the hospital is
welcome to stay at the Ronald McDonald House.

Introduction to Ethics – G1, G2, G3
Instructor: Dr. Rudolf Sárdi
TASK 1 (obligatory)
4. Reflect on the following scenarios in a minimum of 350 words.
Do not use any external resources (except for the
notes in class and your reading experience for our sessions)
while completing the exercise. Its content and language use
will be evaluated based on the incorporation of ideas covered in
class and your subjective thoughts, ideas, and
recommendations.
• French painter Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) gave up his job as a
banker and abandoned his
wife and children to pursue a cereer as an artist. He moved to
Martinique and later to Tahiti,
eventually becoming one of the most famous postimpressionist
artists in the world. Did he
do what was morally permissible?
• Siddhartha Gautama, appalled by the tremendous and
pervasive suffering in the world,
abandoned his wife and child to seek enlightenment. He
eventually attained enlightenment
and became known as the Buddha. Is there a moral difference
between Gauguin and the
Buddha?
TASK 2 (obligatorily elective)
5. Reflect on one of the following questions of your own
preference in a minimum of 350 words. Follow the same
instructions as indicated above.
1. Shall we aim at happiness or at knowledge, virtue, or the
creation of beautiful objects?
2. If we choose happiness, will it be our own or the happiness of
all?
3. And what of the more particular questions that face us: is it
right to be dishonest in a good
cause?
4. Can we justify living in opulence while elsewhere in the
world people are starving?
5. Is going to war justified in cases where it is likely that
innocent people will be killed?
6. Is it wrong to clone a human being or to destroy human
embryos in medical research?
7. What are our obligations, if any, to the generations of
humans who will come after us and
to the nonhuman animals with whom we share the planet?
