To become a qualified driver CPC, you have expected to pass through some tests. Here we explained the whole process and each test round to become CPC qualified.
2. The Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is a set
of standards created by the European Union to make sure
every professional drivers are competent and adhere to
ongoing training and education.
All new drivers trying to acquire their first Category C or
Category D licence undergoes a complete training programme
that involves initial CPC training. Along with the CPC training is
preparation for the appropriate theory test and the practical
skills instruction expected to pass the driver's final two exams.
This entire process combined, including all of the tests, is known
as the initial CPC qualification.
3. If you want to be Driver CPC qualified for either a truck or bus:
you will have to passed a Category C Truck Driver Theory Test
you will have to passed a Category D Bus Driver Theory Test
Both theory tests are 100 multiple choice questions - you must
correctly answer at least 74 of them to pass.
If you want to be Driver CPC qualified for both a truck and bus:
you will need to have passed a Category C Truck and Category
D Bus Driver Theory Test
This test is 140 multiple choice questions - you must correctly
answer at least 104 to pass.

4. You need to have passed the Truck or Bus theory test before you
can apply for your learner permit.
What do you need to do?
You need to apply for the learner permit with
the NDLS (National Driver Licence Service)
5. You need to have taken the Driver CPC theory test before you can
sit your case study test.
What do you need to do?
The case study test describes 3 real life situations a driver might
face. There will be 15 questions on each.
To pass you have to score at least 5 out of 15 in each situation
and have an overall score of at least 28 out of 45
6. To prepare for your practical driving test, you should take
driving lessons with an RSA (Road Safety Authority) approved
Driving Instructor.
7. Before you can take your practical driving test you need to have:
passed your Driver theory test
passed your CPC case study test
your truck or bus learner permit
Your practical test will last about 1 hour and 30 minutes and
includes:
vehicle safety and technical questions
practical road driving
8. We recommend that you take your practical driving test and
walk-around test on the same day.
Your walk-around test will last about 30 minutes.
You’re tested on being able to:
load the vehicle following safety rules and to keep it secure
stop trafficking in illegal immigrants
assess emergency situations
ensure the comfort and safety of passengers
do a walk-around vehicle safety check
The test is made up of 5 topics from the Driver CPC process.
To pass you have to score at least 15 out of 20 in each topic area and
have an overall score of at least 80 out of 100.
9. You need to have passed the Truck or Bus practical driving
test before you can apply for your full licence.
