140.03 Flue Liner
Chimney stack to be built of masonry blocks below roof line and brick above. 150mm dia pumice
flue liners with rebated joints to BS1181. Combustion air provide by ducting from the loft space to
the room sealed appliance. No roof timbers within 50mm of stack.
Lead Flashings to roof / chimney junction.
Prior to to commissioning, the flue shall be checked for obstruction by testing by means of
coring ball, smoke test or sweeping.
140.04 Flue Outlet
Flue outlet to be 600mm above ridge of roof.
140.05 Air Supply
Ventilation of Room a to be achieved by permanently open air vents with a total equivalent

A robust, and indelibly marked Notice Plate, conveying a. The location of the Hearth and
Fireplace, b the category of flue, c the type and size of flue, and manufacturers name, and d.

140.07 CO Alarm
A Carbon Monoxide Alarm complying with BS EN 50291:2001 to be provided in the same room as
the appliance on the ceiling at least 300mm from any wall, or if fixed to a wall, as high as possible,
but not within 150mm of the ceiling, and between 1m - 3m measured horizontally from the
appliance.

150.01 GENERAL
Whole dwelling ventilation rates to exceed 29l/s. and not less than 0.3l/s per m2 of internal floor

150.02 Back ground Ventilation
Ventilation provided by continuous mechanical extractor fans installed as high as practicable,
preferably less than than 400mm from ceiling level and vented to the outside from Kitchen, Utility
Room, Bathroom and sanitary accommodation, to meet BS EN 1314-6 Clause 4, and should be
quiet in operation not exceeding 30dB lAeg T in noise sensitive rooms, such as Bedrooms and
Living Rooms, and to be lower than 35 dB Aeg T in Kitchen and Bathrooms.

Controls should be set up to operate without occupant intervention, but may consist of either

Cooker hoods should be 650mm - 750mm above the hob surface.
150.03 Purge Ventilation
All other habitable Rooms to use purge ventilation, via openable doors and windows, allowing 4
air changes per hour directly to the outside.
