Boko Haram is a terrorist extremist group that fights against Christianity. Their goal is to turn the
world into Islam believers. Right now they have focused on Africa, Nigeria in particular. In order to
do this, they have taken over towns, stolen girls from schools and brought terror to Nigeria. Boko
Haram promotes a version of Islam which makes it "haram", or forbidden, for Muslims to take part
in any political or social activity associated with Western society. This includes voting in elections,
wearing shirts and trousers or receiving a secular education. Boko Haram regards the Nigerian state
as being run by non–believers, even when the country had a Muslim president – and it has extended
its military campaign by targeting neighbouring states.

There is substantial evidence which supports the idea that terrorist groups place high value is using
shoulder–fire MANPAD weapon systems to destroy civilian jet aircraft. Successfully attacking a
civilian plane not only poses a great economic threat by effectively shutting down the commercial
aviation industry, it would also create a loss of confidence in the United States ability to defend
itself which, in of itself, holds great symbolic value. While the previous post examined mitigation

While the Chechen's were exiled Russian colonists had inhabited their lands making the region
unstable. Then after the collapse of the Soviet Union the region stayed under the control of Russia.
During the Chechen wars that followed in 1996 and 1999 Russia tried regain full control the region

the countries that are going into fight but the US should not send troops. We could be giving these
other countries some supplies and helpful plans to help fight against what is going on. We can make

When we think of a person who joins a terrorist group we think that they must be a psychopath or
suffer from some form of mental illness. There has to be something wrong with that individual to be
so easily swayed into a group that is so violent and has no regard for human life. However, classic
studies like those performed by Milgram and Zimbardo proved that even stable, well–adjusted
individuals can be capable of inflicting serious harm on fellow human beings without any regret.

However, many members are possibly just as ordinary as you or me. Radicalization does not happen
simply by listening nor by an individual's experiences but if you combine the two they amplify each
other and a terrorist could be born. The process of co–radicalization was an important factor I
learned from this paper. I do not think any of us realize that as a society the "West" contributes to
the making of a terrorist. Muslims are drawn to the West as a society of freedom and the land of
opportunity. However, just because there are Muslim we profile and discriminate against them. In
doing this most people do not understand that we are basically radicalizing them ourselves.
Terrorism is all about division and this puts a big divide between us and the Muslim communities.
Leaders and politicians of the West that use aggressive tactics also fuel terrorism. This was made
very clear when al Qaeda reaired Donald Trump's reaction to Muslim immigration. This article has
been very beneficial for me because I am one of those that feel that we need to take on ISIS in a

In each requirement they are provoked in some way, that's not it though they also have ways for
conducting war. They believe that it should be handled in a disciplined way so they don't injure non
combatants with minimal amounts of force, then treating prisoners of war without anger and as

Terrorist groups have been involved in political violence dating back to the Greek and Roman
Empires. Terrorist Groups have used violence, and terror to seek political change. In the thirteen and
fourteenth century, Italy was very volatile. The government went through many changes the use of
violence and force was used to terrorize the opponents. In the Age of Revolutions, Muslims began
practicing the form of the suicide attacker. The attacks occurred in Malabar, against the Portuguese,
Dutch, and British (Lutz & J., 2005).
The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines terrorism as "the use of violence acts to frighten the
people in the area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal" (Terrorism, 2013). The United
States Code 113B, recognizes two forms of terrorism, international and domestic terrorism.
International terrorism "means activities with the following three characteristics:
Involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
Appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of

Tonight, at discussion, we all learned about each others' terrorist groups they were assignment with.
These groups included Al Qaeda Core, ISIS, Al Qaeda Arabian Peninsula, Al Qaeda Islamic
Maghreb, and Boko Haram. I did not know about all of these groups before discussion, therefore it
was interesting to listen and find out more information about each of these terrorist groups and what
attacks they have each pursued. My group's terrorist group was ISIS. One thing I learned is that ISIS
actually originated from Al Qaeda but split from them in 2010 when ISIS was taken over by a new
leader, Abu Omar al Baghdadi. Both ISIS and Al Qaeda were radical jihadists groups. However, Al
Qaeda was not necessarily interested in establishing a caliphate but focused more on attack of the
US and its Muslim allies. ISIS, on the other hand, has a goal to re–establish the caliphate and be the
only Islamic state worldwide. Al Qaeda adhered more to an extremist view of Salafism. Therefore,

One is that all of the groups are of Sunni. This means that they don't distinguished Shias from other
Kafirs. Basically, their ideology is to continue the practice of Islam and any group or person who
doesn't believe this also does not deserve to live. Therefore, all of these terrorist groups have the
common thought that Western ideologies should not be supported or spread. Another concept that all
of these terrorist groups have in common is they each want to overthrow governments and replace
them with their own. I think these groups are connected because they agree with the ideologies of
eachother and the terrorist groups believe and want a stronger and bigger ally system to help
complete the goals including having a Sunni government and preventing spread of Western
