3. How is music and sound used in the film opening?
There is silence for the few seconds of the opening there is silence this creates suspense for
the audience and makes them question why is there no noise. The silence is broken with
Jason Statham’s
Traditional Jewish music is used when the four Jewish men enter the building the music is
non-diegetic the music has a relatively slow tempo therefore it creates an innocent calm
atmosphere, the music relates to what the audience see on screen allowing the audience to
recognize what they are seeing. When the four men enter the office the music stops playing
when the four invaders reveal their cover and pull out guns the silence and dialogue rapidly
changes to fast pace, alarming music which gives the audience the feeling of an adrenaline
rush, this creates a very contrasting atmosphere to the previous as the music now suggest
panic and chaos

5. Does the film contain enigma codes?
The film opening creates a few enigma codes for example in the opening scene who is the
man sitting in front of Turkish and Tommy. Why does Turkish repeat the question “what do I
know about diamonds?” Another enigma code this film opening creates is why are we
seeing the four men walking through the building on CCTV? When the four men start pull
out guns and start shouting without the accents they had the audience begin to wonder who
are these people and why have they raided the building?
