Alfred Hitchcock is an influential filmmaker because he revolutionized the thriller genre with films like Psycho and utilized suspenseful music and unique stylistic techniques. He also made cameo appearances in his own films. Martin Scorsese is also influential for his realistic violence and use of music, lighting, and fast camera shots to build tension in thrillers. Scorsese's film trailers build anticipation through intense music and rapid editing.
2. Alfred Hitchcock
The reason he is an influential figure to me is because of how well
he used to make his films, and how he revolutionised the thriller
genre and made it what it still is today, over 55 years after the
release of 'Psycho'. He is also an influence because of the style he
uses in his films, with tense moments ending with a climax with
high pitched string orchestral music which is fast paced, and also
how unique his films were back in his day. He also likes to feature
himself in his films, often appearing in the background or at the
side of his films, making the audience see the man who made the
film for a short while instead of on the storyline.
3. Martin Scorsese
Martin Scorsese is an influential figure to me as he has very
specific trade marks and styles in the thriller films he has made in
the past. One trademark that he has is the realistic and almost
unwatchable violence. When Scorsese used to focus on making
thriller films, he used a lot of different ways to create tension, with
certain things like music, lighting and camera shot speed. Looking
at trailers of Martin Scorsese’s thriller films, he uses a lot of build
up music and lots of fast paced shots to make the trailer look like
it is building up to a really well directed and produced film.
