In this presentation I will be talking about the interactive
media industry.
Interactive media
Interactive media normally refers to products and services on
digital computer-based systems which respond to the user’s
actions by presenting content such as
text, graphics, animation, video, audio, games, etc.
Interactive media
Size of the industry
The interactive media industry is worth several billion pounds
annually and employs around 43,000 people, representing
22% of the total Creative Media Industries.
Facebook
It has a revenue of $5 billion and employs 5,000 people.
Facebook currently has more than 1 billion users and
instagram as a subsidiary.
Facebook is a public and worldwide online social networking
service. Its name comes from a colloquialism for the directory
given to students at some American universities. Facebook has
no owner.
Twitter
It currently employs 2,000 people and has a revenue of around
$140 million. Twitter has no owner.
Vine is a subsidiary of Twitter, which is a mobile app that lets the
user create and post short video clips.
Twitter is a worldwide and online private social networking and
microblogging service that enables users to send and read short
140-character text messages, called "tweets". Registered users can
read and post tweets, but unregistered users can only read them.
How does this industry relate to other
creative media industries
Interactive media relates to other industries such as:
television, radio, gaming, film, photography and photo imaging.
This is because it is the most important aspect of modern
advertisement.
How is Twitter and Facebook used by
other media industries
Social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook are used by media
companies to advertise their product as these sites have millions of
users and would be widely recognised.
This would help companies gain popularity and awareness from the
public which can increase sales.
This can be done by creating pages on these sites for users to ‘Like’ or
‘Follow’ which then feeds latest information and news on this product
and also advertise and sell products to the users. It can also provide a
link to the official site so people can buy that product and also others
they see.
This is good for companies to make sales, gain popularity and
awareness and give information or news to the users.

  • 1. Interactive media In this presentation I will be talking about the interactive media industry.
  • 2. Interactive media Interactive media normally refers to products and services on digital computer-based systems which respond to the user’s actions by presenting content such as text, graphics, animation, video, audio, games, etc.
  • 3. Interactive media Size of the industry The interactive media industry is worth several billion pounds annually and employs around 43,000 people, representing 22% of the total Creative Media Industries.
  • 4. Facebook It has a revenue of $5 billion and employs 5,000 people. Facebook currently has more than 1 billion users and instagram as a subsidiary. Facebook is a public and worldwide online social networking service. Its name comes from a colloquialism for the directory given to students at some American universities. Facebook has no owner.
  • 5. Twitter It currently employs 2,000 people and has a revenue of around $140 million. Twitter has no owner. Vine is a subsidiary of Twitter, which is a mobile app that lets the user create and post short video clips. Twitter is a worldwide and online private social networking and microblogging service that enables users to send and read short 140-character text messages, called "tweets". Registered users can read and post tweets, but unregistered users can only read them.
  • 6. How does this industry relate to other creative media industries Interactive media relates to other industries such as: television, radio, gaming, film, photography and photo imaging. This is because it is the most important aspect of modern advertisement.
  • 7. How is Twitter and Facebook used by other media industries Social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook are used by media companies to advertise their product as these sites have millions of users and would be widely recognised. This would help companies gain popularity and awareness from the public which can increase sales. This can be done by creating pages on these sites for users to ‘Like’ or ‘Follow’ which then feeds latest information and news on this product and also advertise and sell products to the users. It can also provide a link to the official site so people can buy that product and also others they see. This is good for companies to make sales, gain popularity and awareness and give information or news to the users.
