2. Desktop Computer
• A desktop computer is a computer that consists on 1 base unit a monitor
a mouse and a keyboard. It is a like a laptop or netbook but can be a lot
more powerful for example the processing and graphics could be better in
desktop than a laptop. It connects to other computer either using
Ethernet or wirelessly using WIFI connection depending on what you use
to access the internet.
3. Tablet
• A tablet is a smaller version of a computer except its not it uses flash
memory, it does not have a hard drive. You can download games and
other applications, it can be used as a media device and so me even have
cameras on them. It is a mobile device so it is good for when you on the
go. It also has touch screen so there is mo need for mouse or keyboard.
Tablets are usually used for mobile purposes due to there size so they
connect to other computer wirelessly using Wi-Fi or 3G depending
whether it supports 3G connection.
4. Laptop
• Laptops are a portable version of a desktop computer, they are battery
operated, and can do just as much as a computer, from word processing to video
editing, you can now watch TV from you laptop. They need a battery that will last
for a considerable time. Laptops can connect to other computer either using WIFI
or Ethernet depending on how you connect to the internet. You can also use
mobile broadband the uses 3G connection so you can have internet any where.
5. Netbook
• Netbooks are an even smaller version of a laptop, they do not have much
processing power they are mainly used for going on the internet and can
be used for other small applications. There is an upside netbook can have
unto 10 hour battery life. Netbooks usually use Wi-Fi to connect to other
computers but they also support Ethernet connection depending how you
connect to the internet. You can also use mobile broadband so you can
internet connect any where.
6. IPhone
• Iphones are very advanced mobile phones. They use touch screen
technology, they can download applications and can be used to read and send
emails there is now a face to face service called Facetime also the iPhone has
a talk time: Up to 8 hours on 3G, up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM)
Standby time: Up to 200 hours Internet use: Up to 6 hours on 3G, up to 9 hours on
Wi-Fi Video playback: Up to 10 hours
Audio playback: Up to 40 hours
IPhones use Wi-Fi and 3G and 4G that has recently come out. So it can use either the
Wi-Fi or the 3G or 4G connections to access the internet and connect to other
computers.
The new Ipad also uses Wi-Fi but now has the new 4G LTE connection which can be as
fast as home broadband.
7. Games Consoles
• Games consoles are used for gaming but are also good for
socializing for example when you go online and play against
other people. You can also stream movies and connect them
to your computer through Wi-Fi and can also be used to even
go on the internet and catch up on TV. Games consoles
connect to other computers through WIFI ussally but they all
have Ethernet connection depending how you connect to the
internet.
