Ideas and Inspirations for my film opening

1. DNA
The genre of my filmopening is horror/psychologicalthriller. I chose these genres opening as
you can use lots of interesting camera angles and shots create mystery and suspense. The
location of the opening is going to be in the basement of a house. The basement is dark, dingy
and very bleak which is the ideal setting fora horror. I also want to vary the shots between the
basement and the normal house to make it more realistic howeverstill sees aspects of the
supernatural. I am going to use natural low light and darkness to film with.I may use torches for
additional light as there are only small windowsthat allow natural day light in. For the opening
of my film I want to play a soundtrack overthe footage.I do not want to include any dialogue
between actors as I feel it will disturb the mysterious and sinister atmosphere that I want to
portray. In the opening I don’t want to include any shots of direct facialexpression. I want
portray the idea of the ‘unknown’. Throughout the beginning I wantto feature different facial
and body parts. I want to keep the actor/actress’ identity hidden. The inspiration for my film
opening was the psychologicalthriller Prisoners (2013) as it includes a lot of detective work
and mystery and this is what I want to show in my film opening. The target audience for my
opening would be teenagers and young adults between the age of 15-25. I feel that horror films
and psychologicalthrillers appeal most to this age group.
