Obituary
Mahalie Paige Hargis, 18, of West Hamlin, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2081.
She was born in Huntington, WV, on July 27, 1995. Mahalie graduated from Lincoln County
High School and received a degree in exercise science from Marshall University in 2016. She
had a successful career and enjoyed running her own Physical Therapy Practice. She married
Cody Schmidt and had two children.
Mahalie competed in beauty pageants for years and won numerous titles, including Miss West
Virginia USA. She then went on to Miss USA where she placed in the Top 5 and got 1st
runner
up. She had a very adventurous life as she traveled to 50 countries and 6 continents. She passed
as she went to sleep one night warm in her bed. It was a very peaceful passing.
Mahalie is survived by two children; John Michael and Gracie Anne. They have graduated from
Marshall University as well and currently have very successful careers.
A viewing will be held at McComasFuneral home at 7 p.m. on Friday. The funeral will take
place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the burial immediately following.
