Fish bowl paragraph
1. This picture shows a snapshot of a little fish’s life, named Cliff. Cliff was an average gold fish in a
big pond. He went to school every day and came home to his small family in the lily pads. One day when
he was coming home from school he noticed that his family wasn’t anywhere to be found. He was
swimming around frantically trying to find his parents, but he never found them. He then swam to find
his friends to ask for help and they were gone too. He was freaked out and didn’t know what to do. He
looked up for just a second to ask for answers, and then SPLASH! He was netted. He was thrown into a
little plastic baggie and taken away from the only world he has ever known. The pond would be forever
a memory and not a reality. He was headed to a new life whether he liked it or not.
The thing that netted him and stole him from his home was a West Virginia state fair worker. He
was going to his neighbor’s pond to buy some gold fish for the fair to give away as prizes at his ring-toss
boot. So Cliff and all his family and friends would be sold like corndogs to the next person to come up
and win. The guy that took all of the fish drove straight down to the fair booth so that they didn’t
suffocate and die in the bags before they were given away. Once the man lined up all the fish along the
ledge Cliff finally saw his family all in separate bags scattered around the stand they were placed on. He
yelled as loud as he could, but no one heard him because of the bags and fair going on. After what
seems like a month in those little bags, some kid came up and won five times in a row! The worker let
him pick his favorite fish as his prize. The very first one he picked was his mom, then his dad, then his
friends, and then he had one left. The kid was looking around for a long time and finally pointed at Cliff.
He had a heart attack waiting for the kid to pick him out. He was excited that they were all going to the
same house. Cliff was thinking that they would all be reunited in a brand new pond with all kinds of
other gold fish. When the kid arrived at the new place they were all placed on the kitchen table until
they could find something to put them in. The mother of the child grabbed two regular fish bowls and
placed all of his family and friends in one, and then Cliff went into the other one all by himself. They put
the bowls beside each other, which was such a big tease that Cliff had had enough. He was so mad that
yet again he had been separated from his family that he was going to get in the other bowl even if it
killed him. He swam to the very bottom of the bowl and flicked his tail back and forth as hard and as fast
as he could until he reached the surface. There was Cliff, in the air between his solitary bowl and the
bowl with all his friends and family. SPLASH! Cliff woke up sleeping under his lily, in his part of the pond,
with his mom and dad. It was all just a terrible dream.
