2. Hematochezia Hematochezia is defined as passing bright red blood in stool typically from the lower gastrointestinal tract or commonly known as the rectum. Usually caused by diverticulitis (inflamed pouches in the rectum) hemorrhoids (swollen veins in the rectum), or rectal tearing.
3. Colonoscopy Examination of the upper portion of the colon by passing a flexible fiberscope called a colonoscope through the anus, rectum, and colon. The colonoscope is a flexible tube the width of a finger that is guided into the large intestines with a camera on the end to view the colon on a monitor. The test is done for many different reasons. Majority of the time the procedure is performed because blood is found in the stool, there is a change in bowel routine, or an irregularity is found in a ct scan or x-ray.
4. Cachexia Physical wasting with loss of weight and muscle mass caused by disease. Patients with advanced cancer, AIDS, andothermajor chronic progressive diseases may appear cachectic. Cachexia is a wasting syndrome that causes weakness and a loss of weight, fat, and muscle.
