GRID Alternatives trains volunteers to install solar panels for low-income families. Since 2004 they have installed 230 systems in California, which will save families $3.79 million and reduce CO2 emissions by 11,507 tons. Companies can sponsor an installation project starting at $1,000 to involve employees in volunteering. Sponsorship levels are based on the number of volunteers and include recognition and solar training.
