Mapping Your World
The GIS office is making
maps for a Search and Res-
cue mock search. The event,
which will offer K-9, Drone,
Equestrian, and Mountain
Bike Patrol training, and
more, will be on Saturday,
March 26, at the Scott Coun-
ty Reservoir. Participants
will utilize letter-size maps
during the search to navigate
and identify location using a
UTM Grid overlay tool. GIS
worked with members of the
Scott County Fire Depart-
ment, Kentucky Mountain
Bike Association, and Ken-
tucky Mounted Patrol to cre-
ate the maps.
Meet Alaina
Alaina Hagenseker is our new Planning Intern. Alaina is a new
resident of Kentucky from northwest Indiana and a recent graduate of
Indiana University. She hopes to become a City Manager, and the
internship in the Planning Office is a great step in that direction.
Alaina is excited to be a vital part of the 2016 Comprehensive Plan
and to learn the role of Planning in local government.

Stamping Ground Downtown Design Audit
Planning staff recently completed a Downtown Design Audit
for the City of Stamping Ground. Staff worked with Mayor Kayla
Jones to conduct the review and produce this report as a result of
their recent 2016 Strategic Planning process. The audit group was
tasked with the following: 1) Identify exiting conditions along
Main Street between Commonwealth Drive and Edgewood Drive; 2) Take survey notes
and photographs to explain findings; and 3) Develop strategies to supplement the charac-
ter and services of downtown Stamping Ground.
The Design Audit focused on several topics, including: building frontage and façade
conditions, vehicular infrastructure, including traffic speed and safety, sidewalks and
pedestrian infrastructure, bicycle access and facilities, decorations, plantings and land-
scaping, signage and wayfinding, and
overall cleanliness. A series of short-
term and long-term projects were sug-
gested for each of the categories previ-
ously listed. The results and full report
can be found on our website at
www.gscplanning.com.
