Malaria By: Keri Gregory
Malaria: Facts about the disease. Malaria is caused by a parasite known as a plasmodium. This parasite can live within a human host and feed off the humans red blood cell supply. Once it eats the cell contents the cells then burst. The life cycle of the plasmodium cannot be complete in the human alone, the cycle must be completed with the help if the Anopheles quadrimaculatus. There are treatments for Malaria, however, with drug resistance and the high cost for the treatment there are still many cases seen in certain geographical areas.
