Information about the gender wage gap in the US.

1. Women in the US generally make less money than men of the same job. Women working 41 to 44 hours per week earn 84.6% of what men working similar hours earn; women working more than 60 hours per week earn only 78.3% of what men in the same time category earn (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics). There was an Equal Pay Act passed in 1963, but there is still a large gap. The Act simply states that no employer should discriminate against anyone regardless of gender. If a man and a woman are doing the same job at the same level of performance, the employer is required to pay them the same. What is the “Gender Wage Gap”?
