2. • In order to gather audience feedback on our three products I created a
questionnaire to find out peoples opinions on the radio trailer, double
page spread and the documentary.
• 10 people from our target audience age range were shown the
documentary and asked to fill in the questionnaire. During this time I was
able to have small conversations with the audience to get an idea of their
opinions. This has helped me to understand their views and opinions on
our three media texts.
3. • What would you rate the radio trailer?

Participants used for the questionnaire on
audience feedback gave fairly poor ratings
to the radio trailer. In discussions with a
few participant I learned that they didn’t
find the radio trailer interesting but instead
found it boring and dull. The lack of
enthusiasm gives it a slower feel which
they felt let down the quality of it.

Did the Radio Trailer provide you with enough information to know what
the documentary was about?
Despite the majority finding the radio
trailer boring and they were able to
understand what the documentary was
going to be about from it however, some
said if they were to be listening to this
out of choice on the radio they would be
likely to switch over or not listen.
4. • Do you think the music was appropriate?

Yes
The viewers involved all felt that the
background music was appropriate for
the topic, commenting that its
simplicity didn’t over power the voice
over which made it easier to listen to.
This was what we were aiming for when
creating the Radio trailer.
Did the radio trailer entice you into watching the documentary?

No
Yes
Most commented that the would not
choose to watch the documentary
after hearing the radio trailer as it was
boring and nothing stood out to make
them want to watch it. On reflection I
agree with this as I feel that the radio
trailer had no appeal to it as the voice
over lacked enthusiasm and this is not
something I would be attracted too if I
heard it.
5. • Did reading the double page spread make you want to watch the
documentary?

Yes
No
The results from this question in comparison to
the same question referring to the radio trailer
enforce the unsuccessfulness of the radio trailer
compared to the double page spread suggesting
the double page spread held more aspects that
appealed to our target audience and was more
inciting and interesting.
6. Do you think the article is relevant?
Yes
No
Was there an appropriate amount of
text and images?
Yes
No
Did the images provide an
accurate insight into the
documentary?
Yes
No
The positive feedback received from the
double page spread suggests that this
format of advertising appealed to our
target audience. I think that the use of
imagery in the article was a main factor
in helping us appeal to the target
audience. I am pleased with the positive
feedback from the double page spread as
it shows that the product was targeted
well to our desired audience.
7. Did you enjoy the documentary?
Yes
No
I think the split in the results shows uncertainty with our target audience in how they
perceived the documentary. I don’t think that they had seen enough of the
documentary to of been able to make a decision on how much they would have
enjoyed the documentary. I think that the documentary topic would have to be an
interest of the individual themselves as the topic is something that is seen as the
‘norm’ at this time – the extensive use of social media.
8. Was the documentary question addressed clearly?
Yes
No
The results from this question
also show an uncertainty from
the audience as to whether the
question has been successfully
addressed. The results from
this highlight that
more/different questions
should have been asked and
answered in the documentary
in relation to the effect that
social media is having on the
generation as I think that the
questions asked were kept
quite generic and didn’t really
give much detail and insight
into the use of social media.
9. Do you think a variety of opinions were portrayed?
Yes
No
It is clear that a variety of opinions were not portrayed
on social media. This was a problem we were aware
of and struggled with throughout the production of
our documentary. The majority of people from our
target audience that we focused on were for social
media, we were only able to find a few against, this
caused a problem as we were not able to successfully
portray a balanced argument around the topic.
Unfortunately this could not be helped as these were
the opinions and views of people who were part of
the target population. This did however give us a
clear understanding of the extent of the social media
phenomenon.
10. Do you think the documentary is targeted more to men or women?
Men
Women
This was a clear problem that we came across in the
production of our documentary. This was a fault of our
own and a simple organizational error. We were not able
to include the few voxpops that we had of males into our
final documentary as they were not professional enough
to be used, included mistakes and voxpop answers that
were not relevant. As it was not an intentional decision to
target our documentary to women this is something we
would need to improve on as it is not only us the
documentary makers that were able to notice this, it was
clear to the audience.
11. Would you want to watch the rest of the documentary?
Yes
No
It is finally made clear from the
results of this question that our
documentary would not be well
enjoyed by our target audience.
Despite our best efforts I think that
the chosen topic would not be
something that our desired target
audience would chose to sit and
watch and this is displayed in these
results. I don’t believe this is due
to the production of the
documentary and how it was
together, I believe this is down to a
disinterest in the topic and having
other programs on offer that
would be more appealing and
interesting to them.
