Are the problems highlighted in black lives matter real or an effect of biased media?
Before one can address the issue manned by black lives movement, identifying the origin
and the mission of the organization is a crucial step. The movement black lives matter is an
association that was created in the years 2013 following the killings of unarmed young black
man by a white. After the gentleman’s killing the young boy (Trayvon Martin) court case was
cleared, the movement was initiated. Today, the Black Lives Movement is an international
activist’s movement having its root in the African American society. The group is engaged in
protests over brutal killings from the police, racial inequality, racial profiling, and other issues
that are destined for making sure the lives of the black community is at safety. The group started
with the use of hashtag #BlackLivesMatter (Fiske 29). The lives of the black community are the
main agenda addressed by the movement.
The movement’s perspective on America’s society towards black lives
According to the New York Times magazine’s cover story about the movement, the
magazine named the movement as a runner-up in its yearly report. By the media, but this is not
the truth about the aim and strategies of the group (O’Reilly 4). In order to define whether the
problems the group is trying to fight are real and not perpetrated by the media, we have to
closely relate the stories that are attached to the black lives movement. First, we will highlight
Surname 2
the story of Fergusson. The case had the label ‘study of the structural racism in the united
states,’ as a matter of fact what the New York Times magazine writer (Jelani Cobb) depicts
Fergusson as is not true; this is because the character is a paradigm. After the declination by the
grand jury to convict Darren Wilson, who was the spotted killer of Michael Brown (Gray 3). The
department of justice was forced to conduct its investigation into the matter. The results were
mere ambiguity, which would have been the reason the jury judged against the indictment.
However, it was true that the officer, was did not aim at killing the individual but was acting in
self-defense. Therefore, the tales that were circulated about the death of the individual by the
mass media were mere lies. As evidence from the store’s surveillance camera showed, Brown
opted to have boxes of cigarillos for free. This event triggered to the store to call upon the police
for help. As the gentleman tried to gain control over the officer’s gun, he was shot. The character
portrayed potential threat to the officer which propelled to him being wounded. Even though it
is difficult to gauge the magnitude of the witness’s testimonials, the jury had opted to decline the
indictment of the police officer. It is true to note that the black people community has the feel of
alienation between them and the police. This triggered the movement to come up and protest
against the incident with the believing that the shooting was grounded on racial biases.
Furthermore, the individual’s approach towards the officer is also proving the existing racial bias
between the whites and the black Americans. Since the incident, Black Liver Matter (BLM) has
engaged in numerous protests, the demonstrations also have gone beyond the street level to an
activisms organization.
Black Lives Matters against arresting of the black
With reference to the impact generated by Fergusson’s case, ‘desperate impact’ it is a
measure of discrimination that gives the movement the momentum to conduct demonstration and

subsequent protests. The case gives room for an argument that reaches the core of the national
debate on race and criminal justice. The same issue earned support from the United States
president (Obama) in the year 2015. He acclaimed that it is true to tell that all over the United
States, Black and Latino men, are experiencing differential treatment by the law enforcement
bodies. The cases are prominent during the stops, the arrests, charges as well as during
incarcerations. However, the struggles made by the movement go unnoticed, this is due to the
criticism the organization faces from bodies believing against the BLM notion (Williams 75).
The fact that the movement is misunderstood makes their target at times fail. The mass media
also has acted as propagators of ill-information about the movement’s aims whenever they are
engaged in a demonstration or a protest. The statistics about how the blacks and the Latino are
discriminated by the justice departments continue to rise. The dispute about determining how the
segregation is enacted within the justice system makes it impossible for the nation to decipher
the main aim of the movement. With the state posing questions such as from who are the blacks
discriminated against and how the agenda of BLM fails to get the right interpretation. But the
fact remains to be that the group is more likely to be incarcerated and arrested than the whites.
There are more of the Latinos and the Blacks being incarcerated than the whites in the United
States.
The media houses have also perpetrated that the movement possess no common agenda.
The groups have claimed that the main agenda of the movement is disrupting the peace of other
citizens. Yelling, demonstrations, and protesting have been the main topics attributed to the
movement. However, the arguments are not true. The Black lives Matters movement addresses
real issues that are happening in the US (Elizabeth 19). From the early times that consisted
Fergusson, the movements such as the Organization for Black Struggle, and the Black Lives
Surname 4
Matters among others have demonstrated their agendas and main points in a clear and concise
manner, listing their public demands. Among the issues being addressed by the movement
involves, transparent and swift legal investigation being conducted by the police. The movement
stresses that there should be fairness when the police are engaged in investigating killings done
against the black people. The actual number of murders conducted by the law enforcement
agencies should be tracked officially by the government, disaggregated by race. The group also
pushed towards the demilitarization of the police forces responsible for offering security to the
people. Not to forget some of the proposals raised by the organization such as the Campaign
Zero, this aims for a body camera on each and every police given the responsibility to secure
people lives. The group remains to have significant contributions to the lives of Americans and
more importantly the lives of Black Americans and the Latinos since it aims at balancing their
treatment relative to the White Americans.
Black lives matter future plan
The media and other organization have projected the motive of the BLM as one without
future concerns for the lives of the people in the United States. Characterizing the movement as
one aimed at painting a false portrait of America in order to build ground for its disturbing aims.
The group has been named a cause of disunity in the United states-aiming at showing the
differences between the whites and the blacks. However, the movement has real and more
beneficial plans for the lives of people living in the United States. It is good practice to accept
that the present fights between the group and the government organs have been centralized on
the brutality practiced by the police. Nevertheless, there are a vast number of plans that the group
is aiming to ignite in the future. It is authentic that the group has an aiming of reviving the dying
education system in the country. The public system of learning remains unsuitable for the black
Surname 5
American students. The organization attributes the forum to as a pipeline (school-to-prison) for
the black children. The movement also has more pending issues to address that tend to go
unnoticed in the face of the media houses. Rather than taking the needed information for
dissemination, media concentrate on the unimportant issues. This makes it possible to brand the
organization as an enemy to the lives and development of the country. For instance, the New
York Times reports on the movement launching fresh national conversation concerning the
legacy of racism, state violence and neglect of the blacks in the country. The Times questions
the main agenda of the movement by asking what the group is after. The group on its side is
aiming at abolishing the prison industrial complex. Many of the group’s organizers are identified
as abolitionist, which refers o the 21st century’s context referencing the individuals who are
aimed at abolishing the unequal prison administration. The Black Lives Movement main agenda
being to bring an end to the practice of mass incarceration of the Latino and the Black people;
who do not have the opportunity to express their grief in the face of the white.
The movement does not hate the police as the media presents it.
The party is not an anti-people movement; it, therefore, views police officers as normal
people who deserve respect and care from others. The movement denotes that police officers are
similar to other citizens performing duties to make a living. They need to have their safety
guaranteed at the end of the task and drive safely to their homes. However, the movement repels
the fact that the police department is concerned with the criminalization of the black people.
They are entangled in a system that makes them view the black as dangerous and unsafe
immortals that need to be treated aggressively (Elmassry and Mohammed 868). The system,
however, fails to show that the black are also citizens entitled to tax paying and who deserve
proper care from the police. As opposed to the media’s notion of the black people towards the
Surname 6
police, the black movement aim is to make sure that police are not seen as a threat to the people
of color and consequently aiming at making the lives of the officers safer. The group is against
the faulty idea that claims disrespect is a crime (for the black towards the police) and resistance.
The movement tries not to back the idea that the black should be comfortable whenever they are
being harassed, arrested and incarcerated on charges that are lack genuine reasons.
Conclusion
The Black Lives movement is a genuine movement with concrete agendas. The overall
aim of the organization is equalizing the lives of the whites as of the native white citizens in the
America. Eliminating the problem of unwarranted arrest and incarceration of the black. The
discrimination and racism that makes the black seem to be unworthy people in the eyes of the
whites. With the awesome goals planned, the future of the black is aimed at being redeemed
from the continued troubles they face from the whites because of their color. A person’s color
should not be used as a tool for discriminating him or her; rather it should be considered a chance
to enhance interaction between the different races. The police also should not be used as tools for
the systems they are working under to demoralize the black people.
