Topic: The Role of E-commerce in Supply Chain Management
Name:
Instructor:
E-commerce can entail all the business activities being carried
out through the internet. It conducts its business activities
electronically including the exchange of information. The major
role of E-commerce is to execute its operations transaction over
the web. To facilitate product transfer over the internet money
is required as it is the financial tool used. E-commerce in China
has faced a bigger challenge of on the mode of payment over the
web as this goes against the legal practices in China. Supply
chain management is the act of controlling procurement and
delivery of business products and services to customers.
Supply chain management improves the customer services, for
example, reducing the cost and delivering the right product and
delivering them to the required place. E-commerce aims at
providing products to the customers at a lower cost and within a
short period and also it aims at trying to create a world-class
experience for its clients with the aid of the newly developed
technology in the world which improves day by day. The
supply chain management is the primary support of the E-
commerce conducting its operation of providing the right
products, right place and at the right time (Botha and Bothma,
2008).
The Internet is integrated with the supply chain network which
exists in the market so as to attract more customers. Some of the
significant roles played by E-commerce over supply chain
management include:
E-commerce helps to create confidence and improve satisfaction
in doing business on the internet. E-commerce provides its
services and products online to its customers. The enterprise
itself provides means in which the customers give out their
feedback, question or any complaint regarding the goods and
services. It ensures there is responsibility within the enterprise
distributors and the suppliers.
E-commerce helps in providing interactions between the
company and the customers and its trading partners. The major
objective of the e-commerce is to develop a clear and free
interaction of the customers with the supply management all
over the country. It is done through the provision of reliable
means of exchanging messages over the internet which improves
the business activity of delivery of the products and services.
The other role of E-commerce is to attract the customers to buy
its goods and services through the internet so as to increase the
sale percentage of its products globally allowing its customers
to acquire products quickly. They provide well-designed
websites which allow quick access to its products.
E-commerce helps in promoting the products and services
online so that the customers can access them easily without
them following a long process to acquire the product and
services. The enterprise notifies the customers on the
availability of different kinds of products and also informs the
customers when some products are out of stock and when they
will be available (Geunes and Pardalos, 2002). It includes the
search engines on their websites which allow the customer to
access the particular product directly by entering the product's
name on the search engine hence preventing the time wasted
when going through the whole kinds of goods while just only
searching for a single product.
The other role of the E-commerce is to provide security of the
personal data of its customers used in the enterprise. These are
done through provisions of passwords to be used by the
customers when they are conducting their usual activities
online. The company provides privacy policy which protects the
customers, for example, the encryption of all the data furnished
by the client when conducting their business activities. To
ensure there is the protection of the client’s data the enterprise
sends an e-mail to the client notifying them about the order
made.
E-commerce plays a role in negotiating prices and contracts. It
encourages the customers to access the products and services
through their websites by negotiating with the customers the
price they are selling the products and the deals they want to
offer to the customers. It acts as agents between the customer
and the enterprise itself which tries to conduct its business
activities globally by providing an online website where
customers and order the products and services of their own.
E-commerce helps in providing products and other services
information to the customers. Brief descriptions of the products
are made on the website so as to allow the customers select the
product they want and order them. These allow the customers to
choose the right products of their choice. E-commerce keeps the
customers informed by updating the available products on their
websites regularly.
E-commerce helps in receiving and placing orders made by the
customers. Placing and receiving of orders is done through the
online marketing where the products required or requested by
the customers are worked at so as to ensure the correct product
ordered is delivered to the client in the right condition and at
the right time. Tracking of orders is also made here where
customers may inquire the progress of producing the product.
There is also payment being done by the E-commerce on the
products ordered by the client on behalf of the manufacturer.
Customers are provided with the payment methods required.
Any products which might be damaged at the time of delivery
are allowed to be returned to the manufacturer (In Lacka and In
Chan, 2014). Before the customer places an order for an
individual product, the enterprise first provides a clear
statement about the product to the customer such as the bill,
taxes and handling charges when shipping.
The other role played by the e-commerce is to provide the
confirmation and notification of the products progress to the
customer. It alerts the customer about the shipping progress so
that he or she can easily track the order made. It also provides
the customer with the destination where the order will be picked
at, and the requirements required when selecting the product.
Furthermore, the e-commerce provides the customer with the
notification about the cancellation of the order in case the
customer decides to terminate the shipment of the product at
any level. The information made through online will be as well
used by the client as these keeps the history of the orders raised
in a period. In some cases, the notification acts as security for
tracing a product which at some point it might not have been
delivered to the customer, and this prevents theft.
E-commerce helps in providing aid and support to its clients. It
provides a platform where the customers raise their questions
and the complaints about the products through the e-mail and
responds to them within the shortest period. In the cases where
the client’s complaints are not regarding the enterprise itself, it
will then provide the customer with the manufacturer's contact.
It also provides the customers with Electronic Commerce
Modeling Language which enables the customers to fill
shopping forms once without having to produce more copies
(Radhakrishnan, 2001). The e-commerce also allows customers
to choose the language they prefer depending on which country
they live in so as to conduct business quickly and acquire the
right type of product.
E-commerce ensures that the shipping of the goods ordered by
the customers are delivered within the time range and are of
good standards and in the case of damaged goods the supplying
agent will return them and reorder other products to be
delivered to the customer.
Another role played by the E-commerce is to provide a
description of the name of the company, location in which the
corporation is located, where the business was started and the
business achievements of the development of that company. It
should also provide its ownership status to the customers. In the
case of larger customers such as wholesalers, e-commerce
should also provide a link in which the clients can access the
products directly from the manufacturer if they
are interested.
Conclusion
Due to the rapid growth of business in the world E-commerce
has developed moving with the technology trying to ensure the
business are done faster and at a satisfactory rate. E-commerce
works to adapt the technological changes which occur almost
every day so as to improve the business activities. In many
countries, most of the companies have adapted to the electronic
commerce done over the internet as it is considered fast and
reliable.

Future Roles of Unions in Supply Chain Management in Britain

The role of unions in Supply Chain Management in Britain in
future
Trade unions play a significant role in supply chain
management. Trade unions movements are likely to face
challenges shortly of determining the level of influence of the
work. Trade unions expose the firms and the companies to the
larger market through the representation of the companies all
over the world. Internal strategies have been adopted including
the laws which encourage recognition of trade unions by the
workers so as increase the trend of the company. The level of
work done by the corporation is determined by the attitude in
which the unions respond to the opportunities and the
challenges they face as this changes the employment relation
and the nature of work . Some of the future roles of the trade
unions shortly include:
Partnership
There is likeliness of increase in the number of the association
as these will improve the working practices increase the level of
performance within the company. The company will share its
profit with the employees through improved wages (British
Retail Consortium. 2006). There will be an increase in the union
involvement in decision making and management which in turn
will increase the company’s success.
Workplace conflict
The future role of unions in supply chain management is to
solve the rising number of workplace disputes. Trade unions
address the issues affecting the employees and protect their
rights, and it has gained a high level of trust between them. The
emerging trade unions resolve conflicts between the employees
and the companies. Shortly most of the developing trade unions
will have the ability to solve the conflicts so as to avoid the
cases of strikes by workers. Trade unions help by allowing
hearings of situations in a procedural manner, and they are done
fairly. There has been a greater positive impact on the business
unions in solving the workplace conflict and shortly there is
likeliness of a company not experiencing any conflicts. There is
a possibility of trade unions being made mediators of conflict
resolution and conciliation due to the rise of workplace
conflicts. There has been an improvement on the business
associations towards the conflicts within the workplace where
the workers who are unionized have good relation with the
managers compared to the non-unionized workplaces. The rise
of new mobile technology in the country has brought challenges
where to manage the workplace complaints has been difficult
thus the trade unions have been formed to manage these
conflicts.
Reactions to new employment rights and constitutional bodies
Trade unions are likely to increase the employments rights and
the number of legal bodies which will majorly focus on the
welfare of the employees. The rising cases of conflicts about the
poor payment of workers are likely to be solved out by the trade
unions due to the pressure from the state. Most of the
employees working on the company where trade unions are
emphasized likely to enjoy their rights and there working areas
are of good conditions as the corporation is following legal
strategies.
Wages
Trade unions in future are likely to boost the income of a
company to a higher level. Most of the workers enjoy the
presence of trade unions within their business both the public
and the private as these increases the wages. Shortly the wages
level will rise as more trade unions are likely to dominate in
various companies. Most of the union members provide the high
percentage of wages than the non-members who offer a low rate
of wages.
Representation of Employee Voice
Shortly, trade unions are likely to play a significant role in
representing the voice of the employees. The number of trade
unions has recently dropped within the state due to the rise in
the number of international markets and the pressure on the
market and it has influenced the activities done by the workers.
The voice of employees through the trade unions has brought
stable workflow of the activities carried out in the organization.
Trade unions are considered a more efficient agent of
representing workers interest and hearing the issues. Formation
of Information and Consultation of Employees Regulations
brought an impact to the trade unions as it allows them to have
the right of making the decision of how to develop a body which
will solve the internal worker's problems. Trade unions act as
the mediators where the employees dialogue with the company
they are working at and representing them on decision making
regarding the companies meetings and changes. Some of the
trade unions have been considered to be working for their
interest only in the recent days, and these have led to the
emergence of many trade unions which are aimed at protecting
the employees’ rights and to represent them.
Union recognition
Trade unions in future are likely to be recognized by all the
companies in the country as they are considered favorable. On
the recent years, trade unions have been involved in achieving
recognition by the businesses and the workers (Great Britain,
2010). . The laws made by the government resulted in the rise
of managers recognizing the need of trade unions within their
companies, and therefore there was an increase in the number of
signings of agreements. It has been a problem for the small
businesses with few numbers of workers to achieve the legal
recognition as the law does not cover them.
Trade union responses to labor market fragmentation
Trade unions which are weaker have led to the emergence of the
more fragmented labour market within the country. This growth
of a form of employment has risen due to the increase in
participation within the workplace and the rise of dependent
self-employment.
There is the likeliness of improvement in the labour market as
they will all unite to work under one trade union shortly.
Workforce participation is likely to increase in near future due
to the rising migration which improves the employment. Trade
unions face a challenge of developing operational labour
standards and representing workers in places where atypical
employment being practiced majorly and the indirect
employment as these have led to weak market growth.
Alliances with civil society organizations
Trade unions are likely to develop the partnership with civil
society organization shortly so as to reach unidentified workers
in various cities. The trade unions have done campaigns with
the collaboration with the community groups in which they
pressure the government for better pay to the employees.
Development of Learning and skills
Trade unions have expanded the development of learning skills
within the region. The funds made by the trade unions are used
to develop the union activities in the new areas, and this has led
to a connection between the workers and the modern market.
Atypical employment
Trade unions are likely to improve the worker's employment
conditions on the areas where atypical employment is being
practiced and further increase their level of representation and
support. In most cases, the legal responsibilities of the workers
and their rights and the accountability of the employees have a
tendency of being neglected by the employer (Jansen and Spink,
2009). The British employment law persists that the direct
employment should be practiced so that in the case of the
employer complains about his rights being undermined it would
be easy for the problem to be solved by the government as the
rights protects the worker unlike when employee exercise
indirect employment. Trades unions are in most cases are being
approached by the workers who are indirectly employed having
many problems concerning their rights compared to those
workers who work directly. There has been an improvement on
the formal union policy where the workers can be used directly
so that their rights are considered in their moving companies.
Conclusion
The role of trade unions in Britain in future is likely to rise as
most of the companies have now focused on protecting their
premises by having trade union for its workers where the
employees’ grievances will be solved without undermining the
daily business activities of the firm through strikes by workers.
The working condition and the payment of employees are likely
to improve shortly due to the presence of trade unions which
dialogue with the managers of the company.

Role of E-commerce in Supply Chain Management

  • 1. Mustafa Alshaikhahmed 2 Topic: The Role of E-commerce in Supply Chain Management Name: Instructor:
  • 2. E-commerce can entail all the business activities being carried out through the internet. It conducts its business activities electronically including the exchange of information. The major role of E-commerce is to execute its operations transaction over the web. To facilitate product transfer over the internet money is required as it is the financial tool used. E-commerce in China has faced a bigger challenge of on the mode of payment over the web as this goes against the legal practices in China. Supply chain management is the act of controlling procurement and delivery of business products and services to customers. Supply chain management improves the customer services, for example, reducing the cost and delivering the right product and delivering them to the required place. E-commerce aims at providing products to the customers at a lower cost and within a short period and also it aims at trying to create a world-class experience for its clients with the aid of the newly developed technology in the world which improves day by day. The supply chain management is the primary support of the E- commerce conducting its operation of providing the right products, right place and at the right time (Botha and Bothma, 2008). The Internet is integrated with the supply chain network which exists in the market so as to attract more customers. Some of the significant roles played by E-commerce over supply chain management include: E-commerce helps to create confidence and improve satisfaction in doing business on the internet. E-commerce provides its services and products online to its customers. The enterprise itself provides means in which the customers give out their feedback, question or any complaint regarding the goods and services. It ensures there is responsibility within the enterprise distributors and the suppliers. E-commerce helps in providing interactions between the
  • 3. company and the customers and its trading partners. The major objective of the e-commerce is to develop a clear and free interaction of the customers with the supply management all over the country. It is done through the provision of reliable means of exchanging messages over the internet which improves the business activity of delivery of the products and services. The other role of E-commerce is to attract the customers to buy its goods and services through the internet so as to increase the sale percentage of its products globally allowing its customers to acquire products quickly. They provide well-designed websites which allow quick access to its products. E-commerce helps in promoting the products and services online so that the customers can access them easily without them following a long process to acquire the product and services. The enterprise notifies the customers on the availability of different kinds of products and also informs the customers when some products are out of stock and when they will be available (Geunes and Pardalos, 2002). It includes the search engines on their websites which allow the customer to access the particular product directly by entering the product's name on the search engine hence preventing the time wasted when going through the whole kinds of goods while just only searching for a single product. The other role of the E-commerce is to provide security of the personal data of its customers used in the enterprise. These are done through provisions of passwords to be used by the customers when they are conducting their usual activities online. The company provides privacy policy which protects the customers, for example, the encryption of all the data furnished by the client when conducting their business activities. To ensure there is the protection of the client’s data the enterprise sends an e-mail to the client notifying them about the order made.
  • 4. E-commerce plays a role in negotiating prices and contracts. It encourages the customers to access the products and services through their websites by negotiating with the customers the price they are selling the products and the deals they want to offer to the customers. It acts as agents between the customer and the enterprise itself which tries to conduct its business activities globally by providing an online website where customers and order the products and services of their own. E-commerce helps in providing products and other services information to the customers. Brief descriptions of the products are made on the website so as to allow the customers select the product they want and order them. These allow the customers to choose the right products of their choice. E-commerce keeps the customers informed by updating the available products on their websites regularly. E-commerce helps in receiving and placing orders made by the customers. Placing and receiving of orders is done through the online marketing where the products required or requested by the customers are worked at so as to ensure the correct product ordered is delivered to the client in the right condition and at the right time. Tracking of orders is also made here where customers may inquire the progress of producing the product. There is also payment being done by the E-commerce on the products ordered by the client on behalf of the manufacturer. Customers are provided with the payment methods required. Any products which might be damaged at the time of delivery are allowed to be returned to the manufacturer (In Lacka and In Chan, 2014). Before the customer places an order for an individual product, the enterprise first provides a clear statement about the product to the customer such as the bill, taxes and handling charges when shipping. The other role played by the e-commerce is to provide the confirmation and notification of the products progress to the
  • 5. customer. It alerts the customer about the shipping progress so that he or she can easily track the order made. It also provides the customer with the destination where the order will be picked at, and the requirements required when selecting the product. Furthermore, the e-commerce provides the customer with the notification about the cancellation of the order in case the customer decides to terminate the shipment of the product at any level. The information made through online will be as well used by the client as these keeps the history of the orders raised in a period. In some cases, the notification acts as security for tracing a product which at some point it might not have been delivered to the customer, and this prevents theft. E-commerce helps in providing aid and support to its clients. It provides a platform where the customers raise their questions and the complaints about the products through the e-mail and responds to them within the shortest period. In the cases where the client’s complaints are not regarding the enterprise itself, it will then provide the customer with the manufacturer's contact. It also provides the customers with Electronic Commerce Modeling Language which enables the customers to fill shopping forms once without having to produce more copies (Radhakrishnan, 2001). The e-commerce also allows customers to choose the language they prefer depending on which country they live in so as to conduct business quickly and acquire the right type of product. E-commerce ensures that the shipping of the goods ordered by the customers are delivered within the time range and are of good standards and in the case of damaged goods the supplying agent will return them and reorder other products to be delivered to the customer. Another role played by the E-commerce is to provide a description of the name of the company, location in which the corporation is located, where the business was started and the business achievements of the development of that company. It
  • 6. should also provide its ownership status to the customers. In the case of larger customers such as wholesalers, e-commerce should also provide a link in which the clients can access the products directly from the manufacturer if they are interested. Conclusion Due to the rapid growth of business in the world E-commerce has developed moving with the technology trying to ensure the business are done faster and at a satisfactory rate. E-commerce works to adapt the technological changes which occur almost every day so as to improve the business activities. In many countries, most of the companies have adapted to the electronic commerce done over the internet as it is considered fast and reliable.

  • 8. The role of unions in Supply Chain Management in Britain in future Trade unions play a significant role in supply chain management. Trade unions movements are likely to face challenges shortly of determining the level of influence of the work. Trade unions expose the firms and the companies to the larger market through the representation of the companies all over the world. Internal strategies have been adopted including the laws which encourage recognition of trade unions by the workers so as increase the trend of the company. The level of work done by the corporation is determined by the attitude in which the unions respond to the opportunities and the challenges they face as this changes the employment relation and the nature of work . Some of the future roles of the trade unions shortly include: Partnership There is likeliness of increase in the number of the association as these will improve the working practices increase the level of performance within the company. The company will share its profit with the employees through improved wages (British Retail Consortium. 2006). There will be an increase in the union involvement in decision making and management which in turn will increase the company’s success. Workplace conflict The future role of unions in supply chain management is to solve the rising number of workplace disputes. Trade unions address the issues affecting the employees and protect their rights, and it has gained a high level of trust between them. The emerging trade unions resolve conflicts between the employees and the companies. Shortly most of the developing trade unions will have the ability to solve the conflicts so as to avoid the cases of strikes by workers. Trade unions help by allowing
  • 9. hearings of situations in a procedural manner, and they are done fairly. There has been a greater positive impact on the business unions in solving the workplace conflict and shortly there is likeliness of a company not experiencing any conflicts. There is a possibility of trade unions being made mediators of conflict resolution and conciliation due to the rise of workplace conflicts. There has been an improvement on the business associations towards the conflicts within the workplace where the workers who are unionized have good relation with the managers compared to the non-unionized workplaces. The rise of new mobile technology in the country has brought challenges where to manage the workplace complaints has been difficult thus the trade unions have been formed to manage these conflicts. Reactions to new employment rights and constitutional bodies Trade unions are likely to increase the employments rights and the number of legal bodies which will majorly focus on the welfare of the employees. The rising cases of conflicts about the poor payment of workers are likely to be solved out by the trade unions due to the pressure from the state. Most of the employees working on the company where trade unions are emphasized likely to enjoy their rights and there working areas are of good conditions as the corporation is following legal strategies. Wages Trade unions in future are likely to boost the income of a company to a higher level. Most of the workers enjoy the presence of trade unions within their business both the public and the private as these increases the wages. Shortly the wages level will rise as more trade unions are likely to dominate in various companies. Most of the union members provide the high percentage of wages than the non-members who offer a low rate of wages. Representation of Employee Voice
  • 10. Shortly, trade unions are likely to play a significant role in representing the voice of the employees. The number of trade unions has recently dropped within the state due to the rise in the number of international markets and the pressure on the market and it has influenced the activities done by the workers. The voice of employees through the trade unions has brought stable workflow of the activities carried out in the organization. Trade unions are considered a more efficient agent of representing workers interest and hearing the issues. Formation of Information and Consultation of Employees Regulations brought an impact to the trade unions as it allows them to have the right of making the decision of how to develop a body which will solve the internal worker's problems. Trade unions act as the mediators where the employees dialogue with the company they are working at and representing them on decision making regarding the companies meetings and changes. Some of the trade unions have been considered to be working for their interest only in the recent days, and these have led to the emergence of many trade unions which are aimed at protecting the employees’ rights and to represent them. Union recognition Trade unions in future are likely to be recognized by all the companies in the country as they are considered favorable. On the recent years, trade unions have been involved in achieving recognition by the businesses and the workers (Great Britain, 2010). . The laws made by the government resulted in the rise of managers recognizing the need of trade unions within their companies, and therefore there was an increase in the number of signings of agreements. It has been a problem for the small businesses with few numbers of workers to achieve the legal recognition as the law does not cover them. Trade union responses to labor market fragmentation Trade unions which are weaker have led to the emergence of the more fragmented labour market within the country. This growth of a form of employment has risen due to the increase in
  • 11. participation within the workplace and the rise of dependent self-employment. There is the likeliness of improvement in the labour market as they will all unite to work under one trade union shortly. Workforce participation is likely to increase in near future due to the rising migration which improves the employment. Trade unions face a challenge of developing operational labour standards and representing workers in places where atypical employment being practiced majorly and the indirect employment as these have led to weak market growth. Alliances with civil society organizations Trade unions are likely to develop the partnership with civil society organization shortly so as to reach unidentified workers in various cities. The trade unions have done campaigns with the collaboration with the community groups in which they pressure the government for better pay to the employees. Development of Learning and skills Trade unions have expanded the development of learning skills within the region. The funds made by the trade unions are used to develop the union activities in the new areas, and this has led to a connection between the workers and the modern market. Atypical employment Trade unions are likely to improve the worker's employment conditions on the areas where atypical employment is being practiced and further increase their level of representation and support. In most cases, the legal responsibilities of the workers and their rights and the accountability of the employees have a tendency of being neglected by the employer (Jansen and Spink, 2009). The British employment law persists that the direct employment should be practiced so that in the case of the employer complains about his rights being undermined it would be easy for the problem to be solved by the government as the rights protects the worker unlike when employee exercise indirect employment. Trades unions are in most cases are being approached by the workers who are indirectly employed having many problems concerning their rights compared to those
  • 12. workers who work directly. There has been an improvement on the formal union policy where the workers can be used directly so that their rights are considered in their moving companies. Conclusion The role of trade unions in Britain in future is likely to rise as most of the companies have now focused on protecting their premises by having trade union for its workers where the employees’ grievances will be solved without undermining the daily business activities of the firm through strikes by workers. The working condition and the payment of employees are likely to improve shortly due to the presence of trade unions which dialogue with the managers of the company.
