3. Homework Assignment 1
•
– Practical:
Visit your favourite location in London and make a panoramic photo, which should be
printed in school using the length dimension of 420mm at 200ppi
– Practical:
Document a space in your home or interesting location to create a Hockney Style photo
montage that can be composited and printed at school
– Research:
Make a double page presentation about the photographic montage work by David
Hockney. Collect quotes by and about the artists, examples of his work, facts about
Hockney and his reasons for making these montages.
– Analysis:
Type out a 300-word comparative study between the work of David Hockney and
another photographer of your choice that photographs locations and outdoor locations
but in a different way. In your analysis:
- describe the different styles of the two photographers and ideas behind the work
- explain the different techniques/processes and manipulation of the formal elements
used by the photographers (i.e. lighting, use of colour, perspective, etc..)
- give a personal, critical evaluation of which photographer’s work you prefer and why
