MSM factory ventilation (To analyze and propose cost saving measures for our factory)
We have spent RM 72000 in November 2015 for electricity, we have changed all our air
conditioner units in January 2015, Our machinery breaks down quiet more frequently, the
workers are getting more tired and thus reducing their mental and working ability. Now is the
time to ask ourselves why?
As the weather gets hotter the equipment’s uses more power. It will result in high heat output,
less precision, lowers the component life, tired workers and lowers the factory quality.
In below we have compared the electricity usage of MSMM with the increase of sunshine on
the factory.

OUR REQUEST:
We urge finance department for funding on the installation of ventilation system proposed in
this proposal.
For replacing the air inside the factory once per hour we need minimum 10 units of 16” wind
turbine ventilation with the 800 cfm capacity to be installed. 5unit in each section of the factory
with equal spacing. This will cost total of RM 5949 including one year warranty and
installation.
We need additional 10 units of 24” ventilation fan (similar exhaust fan used in MCI). 6 for
intake and 2 for exhaust and 2 for circulation. It will cost total of RM4240. We will install with
MSM staff and the total power consumption for this project is less than RM 500/ month.
We are in need of RM10500 fund (included wiring and installation)
Expected outcome of this project:
5% less electricity cost, 30% less accumulated heat, 30% less pollution, less machine
maintenance and downtime, High worker satisfaction and safety, more accurate parts. Workers
working condition and health will directly influence the outcome of his projects.

The total air inside the building is 14000 m3
. We can see that we will be able to replace the
factory air once per hour only with the turbine ventilation.
Each of the fans has air flow of 15000

and we have 3 exhaust fans therefore we will have
total of 46000
𝑚𝑚3
ℎ
vacuumed air to outside. This means that the fans will have the capability of
replacing the factory air 3 times per hour.

For replacing the air inside the factory once per hour we need minimum 10 units of 16” wind turbine ventilation with the 800 cfm capacity to be installed. 5unit in each section of the factory with equal spacing. This will cost total of RM 5949 including one year warranty and installation. We need additional 10 units of 24” ventilation fan (similar exhaust fan used in MCI). 6 for intake and 2 for exhaust and 2 for circulation. It will cost total of RM4240. We will install with MSM staff and the total power consumption for this project is less than RM 500/ month. We are in need of RM10500 fund (included wiring and installation) Expected outcome of this project: 5% less electricity cost, 30% less accumulated heat, 30% less pollution, less machine maintenance and downtime, High worker satisfaction and safety, more accurate parts. Workers working condition and health will directly influence the outcome of his projects. TECHNICAL DATA Ventilation capacity of each turbine is 800cfm = 1360 𝑚𝑚3 ℎ we have 10 units therefore total ventilation capacity is 10 unit * 1360 𝑚𝑚3 ℎ = 13600 𝑚𝑚3 ℎ .
  • 29. 29 The total air inside the building is 14000 m3 . We can see that we will be able to replace the factory air once per hour only with the turbine ventilation. Each of the fans has air flow of 15000 𝑚𝑚3 ℎ and we have 3 exhaust fans therefore we will have total of 46000 𝑚𝑚3 ℎ vacuumed air to outside.
