2. Markets remained choppy throughout the day and closed with a positive
note despite the weak global markets. Sensex closed at 18762 up around 7
points. The volatility index closed at up around 7.10%.
The sectoral gainer was FMCG sector which was up around 1.08% and the
loser was the Power sector which was down around 0.52%. Shares of Cotton
textiles were in news after the govt raised the minimum support prices for
medium and long staple cotton. PSU OMCs were up after the downside in
the crude oil prices. Auto stocks slipped on the profit booking.
In the international front the Europeans stocks were trading down on the
concerns of the Greece’s bailout plans and ahead of the US elections. The
US futures were trading with a positive note.
