2. The markets opened on a negative note tracking Asian markets and
moved sideways for sometime till the noon. In the noon session we saw
markets picking up pace tracking the economic data in Europe and
started making higher tops and higher bottoms to finally close for the day
in green retaining most of the intraday gains.
FIIs continued their buying for the third consecutive day. Rupee
strengthened after falling below 54 against dollar after RBI intervened
buy selling dollar and due to profit booking by foreign banks.
On the sectoral front, we saw buying in capital goods, metal, IT,
technology and healthcare while minor selling was seen in FMCG stocks.
IT stocks gained as US index futures gained indicating a positive opening
for the stocks listed in US.
