Middle School Summer Reading program Information 2013
Cotillion letter 2013
1. Dear 7th Grade Parents,
Your child is invited to participate in the 21st annual Cotillion. This invitation is being sent to all
students in the 7th grade at Sperreng and Truman Middle Schools.
Cotillion is designed to instruct students in social dancing, etiquette and manners with the primary
goal of preparing young people to face future social obligations with confidence, poise and self
assurance. Mrs. Katie Schoen, an enthusiastic instructor, will again conduct our classes. She is well
known and highly regarded by several schools in the St. Louis area for the dynamic and well rounded
program she teaches.
Cotillion will meet in the Sperreng cafeteria for six Thursday evening sessions. The first five sessions
will begin at 7:00 pm and conclude at 8:30 pm. The last session is a dinner/dance* and will run from
6:30 to 9:00 pm. The dates are as follows:
January 31 February 14
February 21 February 28
March 7 March 14 *
Participants of Cotillion are asked to adhere to dress code. Ladies are required to wear a dress, or
skirt and blouse and dress shoes (dress/skirt length should be at or longer than finger tip length).
Strict adherence of school policy will be enforced: no strapless dresses, halters, spaghetti straps, bare
midriffs, and no short or mini-skirts. Gentlemen are required to wear dress slacks, shirt and tie, dress
shoes and dress socks. A jacket, sweater or vest is optional. No denim is allowed for anyone. The
code will be strictly enforced with students being sent home to change their attire if necessary.
Participation in Cotillion is limited to an equal number of ladies and gentlemen, as much as possible,
not to exceed 100 students. It is not unusual for maximum participation to be reached. Openings will
fill in order of checks received. The total cost of six lessons is $80 per student and is non-refundable.
In addition, each parent must be available to chaperone or serve one of the six evenings. Only parent
volunteers will be able to stay and observe.
You can register in either of the following options:
1. Submit registration form with payment to the guidance office in an envelope marked
“Cotillion” by January 8, 2013. (Please make checks payable to Truman MCPTO)
2. Register online via PayPal on the Truman website: http://go.lindberghschools.ws/trumanms
(Menu Path: For Parents, Truman MCPTO, 7th Grade Cotillion).
We are anticipating a successful Cotillion season and look forward to you and your child’s
participation.
Thank you,
