Originated as a personal academic exercise supported by the KCGIS Center and its strong
performance management/measurement culture
Built upon familiarity with the SEI CMM
Development coincided with the NSGIC GMA

Developed in 2009 and completed by 31 Washington State cities and counties
Presented at Washington and Oregon GIS conferences and at 2009 URISA AC

Combines typical CMM process focus with infrastructure status assessment
Current draft GISCMM based on self assessment
21 enabling capability components focus on data, technology, infrastructure, staff, funding,
