Graphing W/ Calc. Cody Garst
First things to do You have to clear everything!! Hit the [y=]button, make sure everything is cleared out. Make sure plot one is highlighted to highlight it go up one and hit [enter] Hit the [stat] then[1] make sure L1 and L2 are cleared go up one hit [clear] then [enter], NOT [delete]!!
First step Make a graph and put your data on the graph. Write down the equation Vertex and a Point something that isn't close to the vertex.
For example Your vertex is(H,K) and your point is (x,y) Put your vertex and point into this equation Y=a(x-h)squared +k Add or subtract k to y. Put what in parenthesis in calc. then divide to get A. Now you have your Y=‘s
In Calc. Turn on plot #1 Hit [stat] and type in your info make sure they match the same amount. Now hit [window] You will have xmin-put something a little smaller then your x. xmax is the same just a little higher. Xscl is how much the increments are. The same with Ymin, ymax, and yscl.
Final step Hit [y=] and type in ur answer you got from the vertex and the point. Then hit graph. A line should follow the point not exactly but pretty close.
