 Today we have 75% less Water Per Person than in 1947
 By 2030 we will have Only 50% of Water we need for for Our Survival
 25% India Turning into Desert
No Change in Total Amount of Rain Water in India
 Today Our population is 350% of 1947 population sharing Same water
 How much % is it now ? If its 100%, will we double population 13 years!
 What is the % in 1947? and what is it now ? Is 25% now of future ?
 Reality : Desert is Reduced thanks to Green revolution and Irrigation

 Our Rivers, Our Life Lines are Depleting ..
Never Allow Cynical Projection of Positive as Negative
 Yes Dear its an Effect not Root Cause !
 India has made Better Use of River Waters thru Large Dams and LIFT
Irrigation based on River Waters so Naturally we have reduced the
Wastage of Water Going to Sea !
 Isn’t that Something to be Proud of and Call for Celebration of
India’s Progress ?

This Policy has Less Benefits More Costs to India
10,000 KM Rivers would
Mean converting
20,000 Sq. Km area into
forests i.e. 50 Lakh Acres
At least 60% of this is
currently irrigated with food
grains (Rice/Wheat)
That’s Huge Loss and
impacts food security..

 Not made Full disclosure of River Rejuvenation Policy
Recommendation
 Using missed call as Support for Policy not Fully Disclosed
 No Piloting of the Policy Concept Done
 Support of People on River Banks is Hardly Visible in the campaign

Suggestion to #RallyForRivers Shift focus to
Invest in Water Management and Soil Management
 Afforestation and Rain Water Harvesting Away from River and at
Higher Altitudes to Re-charge Ground water and increase and
restore Aquifers
 Locations need Good Geological Studies not a Blind Policy that can
do more harm than good
 Water and Soil Management to improve Productivity
