FRIENDS)
CROW AND COBRA
The crow couple lived on a tree and a cobra lived
inside a hole under the same tree.
The cobra ate the eggs of the crow couple.
The male crow stole the necklace of the King and
threw it in the cobra‘s hole.
The servants of the king dug the hole and killed the
cobra.
The crow couple lived happily on the tree there
after.

9. MITRA-LABHA (GAINING OF FRIENDS)
Characters: Laghupatnak(crow),Chitragreeva(pigeon),
Hiranyaka(mouse).
• One day a crow saw a fowler under a banyan tree and
warned the pigeons not to fly.
• Chitragreeva (pigeon King) didn’t listen to the warning
and got trapped in the net of fowler along with other
pigeons.
10. • They escaped from the fowler by flying together and
went to their friend mouse.
• Mouse freed the pigeons from the net by chewing the
net with his teeth and the crow observed them.
Insight:
• Group action is more powerful than individual action.
11. KAKOLUKIYAM (WAR AND PEACE)
Elephant and Rabbit
In a forest, a herd of elephants lived and their
king was Chaturdant.
Due to drought they decided to shift to a place
where water was available in plenty.
The elephants trampled many rabbit burrows
and destroyed them.
One of the rabbit who was very intelligent
went to the elephant and said “you trampled
the loved ones of The Moon Deity.”
12. The elephant saw the moon and was convinced and
never returned.
INSIGHT: Having good contacts can be a life saver
or at least acting like you have good contacts can help
you in most troublesome situations.
13. LABDHAPRANASHA: (LOSS OF
GAINS )• Crocodile and monkey were good friends.
• The monkey gave sweet apples to the crocodile and
his wife.
• The crocodile’s wife wanted to eat the monkey’s
heart.
• So the crocodile invited the monkey for a treat in his
home.
• Finally the intelligent monkey escaped from the trap.
14. Insight:
• Do not be clouded by emotions while taking
decision.
• Beware of evil intentions of your rival or
competitors, but don’t do the same to others.
15. Aparikshitakaraka
(Considered action/Rash
deeds)
BRAHMIN AND CRAB
Bramhin lived in a city along with his mother.
He said to his mother that he was going alone to a
village for work.
Mother gave him a crab in a camphor box to take
along with him.
He took a halt for rest under a tree.
A snake was attracted by the smell from the camphor
box and came to swallow it.
16. Crab came from the box and killed the snake.
Insight:
Parents and elders are more experienced and wiser
than us. Therefore almost always their advice will be
useful.
