2.  Class is always being represented in the
Media, as everyone is comes under some kind
of social background.
 The media uses this to portray different
messages through covers of magazines all
the way through to movies and TV shows.
 The social class system is regarded as
MERITOCRATIC where social position is
achieved by merit rather than ASCRIBED by
birth

3.  Upper Class – Often seen as rich ,educated,
posh and snobby e.g. Made In Chelsea
 Middle Class – Seen as ‘normal’ as it has good
family values and is well behaved
 Working Class – Poor, uneducated but good
community links e.g. Coronation Street
 Lower Class – Criminals, no family values and
no community links e.g. Shameless

someone if from by the way they dress,
interests, attitudes and behaviors.
 Also in TV shows you may find people act
differently towards a character who is from a
different class due to due to feeling superior
or inferior
