1. Kitchen Cabinet Ideas
Cabinets are the priciest element in the
kitchen, thus careful consideration is needed
before buying. Find design, style, and color
ideas so you can pick the right cabinets for
your kitchen. If you are planning about
remodeling your kitchen, you primary need
to have a budget. This will determine if you
can replace the cabinets, flooring and
appliances, or if you will do only cosmetic
changes. Once it comes to kitchen cabinets
ideas, there are three levels of remodeling.
You can sand the cabinets, refinish or paint
them, and add new hardware. White
cabinets against colored walls are a well-
liked color choice for this type of remodel, and especially work fine in small or poorly-lighted
kitchens. This is the cheapest alternative and can make a world of difference to a dark or
obsolete kitchen.
The second option for kitchen cabinet remodeling is to have an expert replace the cabinet
doors and hardware with something more contemporary and add laminate facing to the further
parts of the cabinets thus they will match the doors. This is pricier than just painting the
cabinets, but you can get a more formal look. Both processes take approximately the same
amount of time. The third kitchen cabinets ideas option is to have the cabinets completely
replaced. This is very costly compared to the other two options, can only be done by an expert,
and will take much longer and make a larger mess in your home. But, if you are expanding or
rearranging your whole kitchen as part of the remodel, total cabinet replacement is typically
needed in order that the newly added cabinets will match the old ones.
Appliances are another very costly stuff to replace. It is finest to stick with white, black or steel
appliances because they will match any future color schemes and will never go out of fashion. If
you don't have the money to replace out-of-date appliances, you can check home improvement
stores for panels that can be glued onto the front of the dishwasher to change its color, or
there is now paint that is made for painting refrigerators. Other kitchen cabinet ideas, if your
counters are out-of-date, but you can't afford to replace them; there are laminates and paints
which you can apply to your existing counters to provide them a fresher look.
2. If you have a linoleum floor which is in need of replacing, you can replace it with self-adhesive
vinyl tiles. Depending on the quality of your existing floor (and how well it is glued down), you
can drag it up or you can put the adhesive tiles straightly on top of it. There are some excellent
new adhesive tiles which are textured and look like stone tiles. They're very costly looking as
soon as laid, but are about the same cost as other vinyl tiles-which, in turn, are cheaper and
easier to lay than linoleum. If you decide to have real tile laid in your kitchen, you will need to
have an expert lay it, and it will take longer to finish than the adhesive tiles.
