2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media products?
• The magazine repeats (Steve Neale) codes and conventions
from magazines such as ‘Classic Rock’ and ‘Kerrang’. As I
picked this to be my inspiration I replicated the codes and
conventions form them. These include having a colour scheme
that was constant throughout all of my pages in my magazine
the colour scheme was; Red, White and Green. Also I made
sure that I had kept the same font on all of the pages. This is to
keep the continuity. When I did my front cover I ensured that I
had the main features/conventions such as:
- Date and price
- Issue number
- Barcode
- Main image and headline
- A unique selling point
- Strapline
- Cove lines
- Strapline
Also when I was doing my contents page I kept to the codes and
conventions by ensuring that I had:
- Page numbers
- Sections
- Promotions
- Sublines
- Another image of the model from the front cover
- Web address and social networking sites ( I did this for
convergence, this allows my readers to access the same
information but in formats that they may find easier to access
and so that they can use it easier).
