2. For my A2 project we decided to use White City’s very own
song of ‘Your Woman’ which my group decided to use very
late as there was a struggle as to which song we were
choosing to use to create our music video. As part of my
group I helped to ensure that the song choice that we had
chosen was right in every single way, which meant that we
could supply a list of media conventions that were
appropriate for this type of genre. We searched very hard
for our particular song choice as we were doubtful of the
list of songs that we wrote down at the planning stage. As
part of this planning we ensured that we wrote down a list
of ideas that we could use for every particular song we
had, this was to ensure that we kept organise and also
knew what clips would be interesting for our specific song
choice.
3. As we had chosen a song not many people would know, we
knew that we could let our imagination fly and let us
express what we felt the music’s video should use. My
group chose not to view the music video that was chosen
by white city until after the task was completed as we felt
we could test our media skills by actually comparing it to
the original YouTube video to see if we could set the
standard of an official music video. This can be used as
convention as we have linked many aspects of the original
video onto ours without even knowing, which signifies that
the audience may understand the video we have chosen.
Or whether they feel a little confused about our storyline.
4. Everything was going well for us as we decided upon
everything we needed to include in our video as we thought
organisation was the key for us getting through this project.
The acting of our lead singer was great as it suited the
purpose of our genre as we were trying to pursue the retro
look onto our character. The performance of the actor was
key as it wouldn’t allow my group to show fluency or us
trying to get our point of view across if the actor wasn’t up to
standards of what role he needed to fill. Overall our actor
showed great understanding of the role he needed to act as
it allow us to flow straight through the filming side of things
which consequently allowed us to be ahead of schedule.
5. We tried to go for a random theme in our music video as we wanted
the video to feel disjointed as this then allows our audience to get
involved with the music video, as this is signified when the class was
shown our video as they had to view it twice to understand the
actual storyline of our video which was great in a way as it keeps
our audience thinking which then progresses onto them wanted to
have another look at the video. It was vital we portrayed this
technique as we knew from the beginning that our idea was going
to be unique to other in the class. The MV’s I analysed on my blog
showed disjointed and incomplete techniques that have been used
purposely to involve their specific audience but also the main thing
was it kept the audience interested throughout the whole video
which is vital when making a MV.
6. We chose to progress on with a music video that didn’t
really match the lyrics of the songs as we thought that
this is an original idea we felt to make our music video
stand out that we needed to take a gamble and try
something different which in this case was successful.
There wasn’t much to create in our music video as
there was not as many lyrics in this song as you would
find in other music videos which pushed us to go on
and make this unique style of music video. Overall the
music video went well as there were not many
problems that had been caused by other videos we
have done in the past but still it was a challenge for me
and my group.
7. The mis-en-scene of this music video was typical
to its sort of genre as I’ve analysed this style of
music video on my blog and everything we
inserted into this video was a typical technique
used in this type of music video. The lighting used
was natural as we felt that this type of genre of
music was not made for such bright lightening;
however in our MV we used this to our advantage
and began filming during the day as this type of
genre allow us to.
8. Camera angles were something we found was a bit tricky as
the weather didn’t allow us to produce the correct angles
we needed as it was too windy to have an accurate camera
shot, which is why we had to find other ways around it, we
decided that we were going to edit the disjointed clips into
the video as a flashing image. The conventions used in our
MV were commonly found in our style of music, as would
you see intertexuality in our MV as audiences usually prefer
having the same stereotypical videos for there preferred
music genre than seeing a diffrent type MV. Goodwin's
theory of music suggest that voyeurism is in every typical
genre of music, we haven't included much voyeurism video
as we thought it will an unusual style mode for this genre
