Domenico Scarlatti was an Italian composer born in Naples in 1685. He spent much of his career in Spain, where he composed over 500 keyboard sonatas and helped introduce Spanish musical styles to Italy. Scarlatti served as music master for Queen Maria Barbara of Portugal and later Queen Maria Barbara of Spain. He remained in Madrid until his death in 1757, becoming closely associated with Spanish music during his time there.

Life (2/2) He was the chapel master in Saint Peter Basilica from 1715 to 1719 He travelled to Lisboa in 1720 and he met there Maria Caterina Gentili, his first wife, in 1728 In 1733 he went to Spain, and when Maria died, he married a spanish who was called Anastasia Maxarti Ximenes. He had two sons with her. He stayed in Madrid until his death, the 23th July of 1757 at the age of 71 years
