weheartit.com is an image-based
social network focused
on inspiration, expression
and creativity through user-posted
images. Users are
allowed to “heart” images to
collect them onto their feed.
They are also allowed to
upload photos for other users
to “heart.”
4. OVERVIEW
WeHeartIt was launched in 2008 by Fabio Giolito, with
over 25 million registered users to date. It ranks 754 on
alexa.com’s global traffic rank.
The goal of this website is to promote positive creativity
as users can only “heart” content and cannot comment
on posts or message other users therefore reinforcing
no negativity throughout the site.
5. TARGET AUDIENCE
WeHeartIt’s target audience is around girls ages 13-25 who
are interested in fashion, culture, photography and tech-savvy
users and used to influence creativity through social media rather
than normal media sites that are surrounded by the pure purpose
of connecting people. This site can be treated as a combination of
Pinterest, Tumblr and Twitter.
6. WHO USES THIS SITE?
WeHeartIt’s web statistics show that four out of five of
the site’s over 25 million users are registered under 24
years old. Over 70% of users are registered as female.
7. FEATURES
Users are allowed to create
“collections” in order to
organize their photos.
The search bar allows users
to find photos that suite their
interests and looking through
tags instead of just random
photos.
8. To “heart” an image,
users simple hover over
the photo they would like
to “heart” and/or add to
one of their collections
and click when the pink
heart appears.
