This video is about how the state of Illinois just passed a law letting illegal immigrants go
to college. This is a big deal for illegal immigrants giving them an opportunity to go to college
and to become a productive member of society. For most, they will be the first in their family to
attend college. Illinois joins other states such as New York, California, and Texas who passed
similar legislations. The impact it would have on these young adults would mean less
involvement in gang violence, arrests, and government assistance. For most Hispanics and
Latinos it is not because of their lack of intellect that they work in service-related jobs. Most
Hispanics do have a limited education because of their circumstances not their abilities. This
could give their social class a boost and give them an opportunity to make something of
themselves.
If the Hispanics were not given this opportunity to attend college, then they will be in a
service job like their parents. Even if they wanted to further their education, it would not be
possible without them being legally attending college. College is so expensive for everyone,
especially for the Hispanics working in service related jobs. Maybe since they passed this law
allowing Hispanics to attend college, they could have scholarships set up for Hispanics to attend
college. It is one thing to let them attend college, but they would have to pay their own way.
The result of having these scholarship to help them learn life skills.
