  1. 1. Population of four local authority districts, approx. 832,469
  2. 2. • High rate of Disability (large portion due to heavy industry) • Unemployment (due to decline in heavy industry) • High levels of people living with mental health issues • High levels of people living with addiction issues • High levels of people living with other types of ill health • Ageing population • Geographical areas with multiple levels of social depravation
  3. 3. Health inequalities are such that poorest adults in North of England on average will die 8 years earlier than the richest in south of England.

  5. 5. Our mission is to help people determine their place in the world and define their identities, so enhancing their self-respect and their respect for others.
  6. 6. Our vision for the future is for everyone to have access to museum and archive provision in Tyne and Wear, to use this access and to value it for the significant and positive impact that it makes upon their lives. We will provide real or virtual worldwide access to our museums and archives and their collections.
