There are many articles and books that introduce BRI from a variety of
perspectives. Weidong Liu (2016) explain the Main vision and action of BRI.He
also highlights the rise of China as a global investor and the role of the Silk Road
as a shared part of the cultural heritage of many countries and civilizations. A core
theme of this project is peace, cooperation, development and a win-win situation
which means this project also created to maintain peace between countries and
want to expand the political growth in that country. No negative and positive
effects will be obtained from the countries involved as this project will provide a
win-win situation to all countries. way to the country.. Zhang, Alon, Latteman
(2018) provide a good example of how BRI changes the growth by describing the
different perspectives of the BRI in geopolitical, financial, legal, and cultural
perspectives.
Southeast Asia also plays an important role in the economy of the world and some
scholars discuss about the BRI in Southeast Asia. Hong Yu (2017) talked about
the main concept of BRI consist of various by sea and land that connect China
with Southeast and South Asia, Central Asia, Pacific Oceania, Africa, and
Europe.It also stated how this initiative could reshape the geopolitical and
geoeconomic in Asia and beyond and opened up the opportunities to Southeast to
grow their economy by joining BRI. Yu (2016) explain the implication of BRI in
Southeast Asia by elucidating the challenges and benefits that the BRI would
probably bring to this region.
However, there is not a single article that talks about the motivation, strategy, and
implication of BRI in Southeast in the aspect of Politicals, Economic And
Social.This paper will offer this comprehensive analysis to provide a more well-
rounded understanding of both the positive and negative consequences of the BRI
in the Southeast Asia countries. Besides, We will also discuss the issues that will
be facing by countries involved in BRI, Even though the BRI is a global project,
this thesis focuses on the extent of projects as they operate in the Southeast Asian
2. region. Through these case studies, the motivations, strategies, and challenges of
the BRI in these regions will be revealed.
