Christian music is one of the fastest growing genres of music today...could it be so popular because
Christian music helps us feel better about ourselves? In today's world music is played in stores,
offices, and restaurants. We don't have complete control over which songs we hear. But when I do
have a choice, I prefer to listen to Christian music because it helps me feel better, stay positive, talk
to my friends about God, and support ministries I enjoy.
Christian music makes me feel better emotionally...a simple concept, but nonetheless true. When I
feel stressed, depressed, hopeless, or angry Christian songs soothe my soul. Even the basic "Jesus
loves me this I know" has a way of penetrating the most desperate situations. Often I need
something to inspire me while I work. There are so many styles of Christian music that I can easily
find just the right energy level to keep me plugging away at the task at hand. Yes, I have dreaded
housework and ended up dancing with the mop to one of my favorite songs. There is even Christian
music peaceful enough to help me get to sleep on nights when my brain refuses to be quiet.
Lyrics from Christian songs help me to keep my thoughts positive and focused on what is important
to me. Have you ever had a song you hated stuck in your head for days? What did free download
music sites for musicians you end up thinking about? How did your thought processes affect your
actions? Christian lyrics stick positive messages in my mind. Often I'm in a situation and a particular
phrase from a song will drop in my mind. It will be the answer for that circumstance, or just the
right thing to say to the other person! This process of our brains is probably why the Bible has a
verse which says: "...whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,

When I listen to music, other people inadvertently hear it. I cannot count the number of times I have
been working on some unrelated project and have a friend ask about the music playing in the
background. Other times I get so excited about a new song that I share my enthusiasm with friends
in normal conversation. The band I am most excited about right now is Right Side Cast. You just
have to listen to the words to the song Destiny. See...I just did it again! It's natural to talk about a
song I love and use that as a springboard to help a friend get closer to Jesus.
Lastly, I get to support some ministries I believe in by listening to Christian music. I buy music and
apparel from Christian artists, shop at Christian Bookstores, attend Christian festivals and concerts,
and learn about Christian businesses from the advertisements on Christian radio stations and
websites. Once in a while I am able to give a donation to a ministry but for the most part the money I
spend is budgeted for entertainment anyway. It does make me feel good to support my favorite
Christian musicians. These musicians use the money I spend to tell more people about the Gospel
and that makes me feel really good!
