CEOs are a very particular bunch. To become CEO means you have reached the top of the company, and your decisions -- even small ones -- will materially affect the company. CEOs usually have their act together more than the average guy (much more), and if you want to succeed in life, you should start thinking like the CEO way before you become one.
Steve often said, "Make sure you're hiring only A-players. Because A player hire A players."When you're in a startup, the first 10 people will determine whether the company succeeds or not."They have to be really smart. But the real issue for me is, Are they going to fall in love with Apple? Because if they fall in love with Apple, everything else will take care of itself. They'll want to do what's best for Apple, not what's best for them, what's best for Steve, or anybody else.
So I take it very seriously.
Simple can be harder than complex: You have to workhard to get your thinking clean to make it simple
We think the Mac will sell zillions, but we didn’t build theMac for anybody else. We built it for ourselves. We werethe group of people who were going to judge whether itwas great or not. We weren’t going to go out and domarket research. We just wanted to build the best thingwe could build
