Muskegee Police Department Case Study
On January 5th, 2017, the Muskogee Police Department began an investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography, by the
suspect, Zackery Perry ("Perry")(MPD Case #2017–557). Through the investigation and the analysis of electronic evidence that Perry possessed and
was collected during a search warrant of his residence, a local juvenile victim was identified as Brooklyn Skelton ("Brooklyn")(age 7). On February
2nd, 2017 at approximately 9:00 AM, the evidence analyzed depicted Brooklyn being photographed wearing lingerie, wearing no clothing at all,
posing in provocative positions for the photographs, and with sexual acts being performed to her, as well as her performing sexual acts to an adult
female, the victim. Also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Members of the United States Marshals Service had eyes on the residence, confirming this was her residence and any and all parties present within
the residence to the best possible knowledge. At approximately 12:00 PM the warrant was served at RR3 Box 598 in Stilwell, OK. Upon approach
of the residence, Skelton opened the side door and was given commands to exit the residence, where she was placed into custody. She informed us
her 2 year old daughter and fiancГ© were still in the residence. Kevin Bray ("Bray"), Skelton's fiancГ© then was commanded to exit the residence
and was detained. 2 year old, Aubrey Humphrey was brought out of the residence last and sat with DHS and a member of the USMS. The residence
was cleared to ensure there were no other parties or threats were present inside the residence. I explained to Bray, we have a search warrant for his
residence and provided him with a copy of the warrant to look

Sexting Among Teenage Girls and Boys
Over the last few years, there has been a lot of discussion and debate over the topic of sexting. It has become a widespread phenomenon, the number
of teenage girls and boys, men and women who participate are rapidly increasing, and with this too comes the rise of moral panic within societies.
Individuals within the communities are becoming more and more fearful, afraid and shocked at this new form of youth culture hysteria. Although
young people 'expressing' their sexuality has become much more open and free as of the last decade or so, the real uproar of panic is due to the risks
they involving themselves in as well as the damage and harm they are inflicting on themselves, whether they know it or not.
Sexting is 'the act of sending, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And this is what is key to the moral panic of sexting, constant over exaggeration. As stated before the technology and means to sext have always
been available, so why now is there such anxiety and fear towards sexting? A reason as to why this may be so, is because of the number of teens
who have committed suicide over leaked sexts. One of the most infamous cases of suicide related to this issue is of 18 year old Jesse Logan who
was mercilessly harassed at the hands of her peers. She was dating a 19 year old boy and had sent him nude pictures of herself. However after they
broke up, he sent those photos to another girl who then sent them to others and soon the whole school knew about it and had seen the photos. From
there is where the severe bullying started. On the Today show Jesse's friend, Lauren Taylor told NBC News about some of the abuse which was
inflicted upon Jessie Logan. She says 'When she would come to school, she would always hear, "Oh, that's the girl who sent the picture. She's just a
whore" '. Her mother Cynthia Logan said that 'She was being attacked and tortured'. Even through the bullying Jesse Logan made the decision to
appear on a tv station to tell her story and make sure no one else makes the same mistake. After enduring further harassment and abuse, Jesse was
finally able to graduate and looked to move on with her life. But after attending the funeral of one of her friends the following year who had committed

The Sexting Phenomenon Essay
Cell phones are common objects found in the pockets and bags of almost everyone one in the world. Recently, cell phones have been getting teens and
adults into trouble. Most individuals send and receive text messages. The newest trend among some individuals is "sex–texting" or "sexting." Sexting
is a dangerous yet contagious phenomenon contaminating the lives of teens and adults all over the country, if not the world. This phenomenon can
have serious consequences. Even after surveying 1300 teenagers, one in five say they've sexted, although they know that it could be a crime
(Feyerick and Steffen). Sexting is a growing epidemic and the only way to prohibit its growth is to develop close relationships with the kids of today's...

Not only can sexting get attention, but it can also be used as a tool to get a man interested, if not already interested. Awoman who has sexted before
claimed that sexting is just another tool in the arsenal to flirting (Tapper). In that same article, another woman said that sexting "lets your inner woman
out. (With your cell phone) you can be the freakiest, dirtiest and most sexually uninhibited woman around." This same woman also claimed that sexting
is "another tool in the arsenal to stay on his mind 24/7" (Tapper). Teenagers see sexting as high–tech flirting as well (Kingston). Sexting isn't just
something to do while bored or to get attention, but it's also used to stay on the mind of his or her lover all the time.
Although it is a useful tool to get on someone's mind, sexting can alter, if not destroy, the perception of how we look at thehuman body. It can be a
piece of beauty that we should care for, or it can be a piece of garbage that we can toss to whomever we'd like. Sexting is degrading the image of the
body. Kids and even some adults need to know about the importance and beauty of the body. If we teach the sexting population about how to care and
respect the body, then maybe we can decrease the amount of people sexting (Rede). But, part of the problem with this solution is that some individuals
fell they already know about the importance of the body and they don't think that way. Instead,

Beauty Pages : The World Of Child Beauty Pageants
The world of child beauty pageants is similar to the twilight zone. It's hard to believe that children as young as 2, have hair extensions, professional
grade makeup, and spray tans. TLC's hit television show "Toddlers & Tiara's", depicts the horrifying and true events of what actually goes on in
these pageants. Nationally broadcasting the inherent sexualization of little girls for all to see has become completely desensitized. The lasting effects
that preforming in beauty pageants has on girls who have been through years of competing is far greater than the trophies and tiara's displayed on
their shelves. Dressing toddlers in costumes, forcing them to dance and parade around on stage only to be judged on who is the prettiest by adults is
sick and disturbed. After the tragic unsolved murder of 5–year old beauty pageant girl JonBenet Ramsey, many people were appalled with what they
saw after looking into the industry. People could not believe that six year olds were parading around on stage in a full face of makeup
(Hollandsworth). However, with the rise of shows like TLC's "Toddlers and Tiaras," child beauty pageants have become a much more desensitized
subject. The general format of the show is always the same. Following two or three young girls, almost always white, anywhere between the ages of
two to nine years, "not only giving out the names of these children, but they also tell you what towns these little girls live in" (hollandsworth). The
show captures what goes into

The Pros And Cons Of Child Pornography
In most states, teenagers who send or receive sexually explicit photographs via cell
phone, known as "sexting", risk felony child pornography charges and the stigma of being listed
on the sex offender registry for life. The fact that sexting can fall under child pornography laws
has created some heated conversations and understandably so. There are numerous thoughts and
opinions on the matter. The majority of the time, sexting in teenagers isn't meant to be
malicious, isn't child pornography therefore shouldn't carry such a like punishment.
Teenagers sending a "sext" to another teenager isn't meant as a malicious act but rather a
way of flirting and letting the other person know they are interested in them in most cases.
While this behavior may cross moral lines it should not ruin their lives as a blatant crossing of
legal lines. If messages containing sexually explicit pictures, or videos are sent between teens
are meant to hurt someones reputation then that is a different story. Many states today are
struggling to write laws that create clear lines regarding this problem. Sexting can be very
serious and certainly needs to be addressed however, in the meantime, we cannot be putting
children behinds bars or labeling them as sex offenders.
Typical teenage sexting is not child pornography. Child pornography is a criminal
offense and is defined by HG.org as any visual depiction involving the use of a minor, or one
appearing to be a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Visual depictions include
photographs, film, video, pictures or computer–generated images or pictures, whether made or
produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means. This is a clear definition of an act. Sexting
with teenagers today is more of a flirtatious way to start a relationship or to maintain a
3
relationship with another teenager. Most sext messages contain images meant to entice the other
person into wanting to spend more time with the sending individual. They are desires to
attract another, not images of sexual acts and therefore should not be considered child
pornography.
Sexting laws are very new and are not clearly defined yet, therefore should not

Summary Of Child Pornography
Summary of Child Pornography, the Internet and Juvenile Suspects This research article by Leukfeldt, Jansen, and Stol focuses on adolescents who
engage in child pornography. As soon as a young person takes sexualized pictures or videos of themselves and/or others and then post them on the
internet it must be dealt with through the police. They find it hard to determine as who is the offender and who is the victim since majority of all
youths will produce and distribute a photo at some point in their adolescents, which can be defined as child pornography. There are many problems that
arise from adolescents who engage in sharing sexualized photos online, such as if they are in a relationship does it make it any different and should it
be ignored or not?
Summary of Data–Based Profiling of Internet Child Pornography Offenders In this article produced by Vasudevan, Ross, Eccleston, and Pradhan they
talk about how child pornography has become an increasing issue in the world for children today. This study focuses on demographic and offending
characteristics of two different groups, which are the non–contact and the contact internet sex offenders. They explore whether the offenders had any
prior convictions of criminal history either non–sexual or sexual. They discovered differences between non–contact and contact offenders in their
education level, career, criminal history and childhood background.

The Sexual Exploitation Of Youth
INTRODUCTION In an era where internet and social media dominate, there must be a consideration of legal issues concerning privacy rights. But
where is the line drawn when it may be associated with the sexual exploitation of youth? R. v. Barabash, 2015 SCC 29 [Barabash] is a circumstantial
case that centres on concerns of privacy rights involving private use, child pornography, as well as regarding the establishments of exploitation and
consent. Barabash involved two fourteen year old girls who were runaways, dependant on drugs and involved in prostitution. According to
Statistics Canada (2008) at the time of this case, youth aged 12 to 14 were twice as likely to experience sexual violence then that of young adults,
this statistic was even higher if the victim is female (Sexual Assault, para. 4). While they were staying with two significantly older men they were
involved in sexual activity that was videotaped and photographed. Under s.163.1(2) of the Criminal Code the men were charged for making child
pornography as well as the older man was charged with possession of child pornography under s. 163.1(4). While the trial judge found all elements
of the offences were established, the accused raised in defence the private use exception outlined in R. v. Sharpe, 2001 SCC 2 [Sharpe], which the
judge failed to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt. Through theoretical and legal frameworks this paper will analyze the defence of private use
through objective analysis with reference to

Anonymous is a network of hackers who have eyes and ears all over the Internet. Its very creepy, they have their technological hands in everything, and
quietly lurk, evaluating the problems presented by communities and weighing in. Every once in a while we hear from them and their opinion. They
merge into a single entity, kind of how we talk about the Internet. It's a collection of "things" but this collection makes it into a person, or a thing. They
usually come into the light when gross violations of life laws are evident. Usually its censorship, something that is majorly important to the online
community. For example this group held a nationwide peace protest across major cities in India, to send a message to the Indian government, halting
major activities and turning the worlds internet eyes on them as a form of pressure.
They also hate general shitty humans. In October, of 2012 this same infiltrated and knocked some 40 child pornography Web sites offline. The group
also said it published the names of visitors to one of the sites. The list, Anonymous said, is fair game for authorities to use in cases against illegal child
pornography sites and their visitors. Heres what they said:
"If the FBI, Interpol, or other law enforcement agency should happen to come across this list, please use it to investigate and bring justice to the people
listed here,"

Victims Of Electronic Crime
WHAT IS ELECTRONIC CRIME?
Electronic crime is also known as computer–related crimes, high–tech crimes or cybercrime. The term describes both crimes directed at computers or
other carrier servers and crimes that use computers or networks to make the offence. These crimes are often driven by the intention to ruin one's
reputation, harm someone physically or mentally, and/or cause loss to the victim directly or indirectly for their own personal gain. Some examples of
electronic crime include: phishing, copyright infringement, viruses, child pornography, child grooming, cyberterrorism, cyberbullying, defamation etc.
HOW DOES THE ISSUE IMPACT SOCIETY?
Due to the increasing use of technology today, we are all vulnerable to being a victim of electronic crime. Although we are all becoming more reliant
on technology, people continue to not take basic precautions such as setting passwords leaving their security level very low. Additionally, these
crimes are quite frequent as it is harder to track and catch the criminal as they are able to remain relatively anonymous behind a screen and not
physically at the scene. Cyber criminals are very manipulative and often have complicated plans to get what they want. For example, on online
shopping sites you must provide all your personal details including your home address and your credit card number. From there, they may hack the site
and get your details or create an email or website to mimic it so that you are unknowingly handing them your

Negative Effects On Social Media
In the past decade, the use of social media has been on the rise due to its easy accessibility on cellular devices. Almost seventy–five percent of
adolescents and teens have a cell phone, where twenty–four percent feel as though they are "constantly connected", and fifty percent confess feeling
addicted to their cell phones. Overall, social media does have qualities that do benefit some people. Some of which include the ability to access new
concepts and information, the ability to easily communicate with others, and help with early learning. Although, it is when social media is not used in
moderation or when it is not used with the right intentions, that the lines start to get blurred. The negative affects social networking sites can have on
teens and adolescence include larger rates of obesity, feelings of depression, having access to false information and unsuitable subject matters, and the
loss of privacy. Social media has negative effects on mental health by subjecting teens and adolescents and introducing them to the dangers of
cyberbullying, child grooming, and sleep deprivation. Cyberbullying is when an individual or group of people, intentionally hurt defenseless people

Sexting Child Pornography
Some people believe that sexting should not be criminalized or treated as "distribution of child pornography". After researching, sexting has seemed
less and less harmful. Sexting is seen as an act or discretion only done by kids, but that isn't always the case, so why have the same punishment for an
adult as you would have for a minor, when minors are not given the same rights as adults. The sentencing for sexting or "distribution of child
pornography" should become circumstantial. Sexting is not always harmful and should be seen as the act of a criminal. Sexting among teens should not
be criminalized. Current child pornography laws are designed to protect children, but when applied to sexting and teens, it subjects youths to potential
felony charges, which can ruin their lives by labeling them as sex offenders and confusing them with adults convicted of heinous sex crimes against
minors. (American Civil Liberties Unions). As a child or an adult, being labeled as a sex offender can ruin the person's life and can limit them on
many things later in life. Sex offenders have certain guidelines that they have to follow such as; a sex offender can not live near any school and a sex
offender must register each year as a sex offender, they can not join any form of military, and before moving into any neighborhood they must go to
each person's house and notify the person that they are a state registered sex offender.Existing criminal laws, that carry the potential for a felony
conviction and sex offender restrictions, are not meant to address teen sexting. Under the existing laws and their extensive punitive effects, these teens
will be stripped of a future as their education and work prospects will be bleak. Teens should become exempt from these charges or misdemeanors, on
the bases that they are only kids and still minors. Teens should be educated about responsible behavior when it comes to media. There should be
punishment for any picture sent without consent, for instance any pornographic or any form of sexting picture randomly sent without the receiving
person wanting or giving consent should be met with a punishment, but still not a punishment that will follow them for the rest of their life. In

People in the adult film industry are exposed to sexually transmitted infections in the workplace. There are no other legal occupations in America
where the exposure to diseases is an acceptable and unavoidable work practice. This paper will go into depth about some of the risks that adult film
workers face, the prevalence of STIs in the adult film industry, whether or not the industry should be regulated, and some potential policy
implementations for the future health of adult film workers. Every year up to 11,000 adult films are made in the US alone. It is a multi billion–dollar

Only 3% of penile–vaginal sex scenes and 9.5% of penile–anal intercourse in heterosexual films showed condom usage. In homosexual films, the
researchers noted that 80% of penile–anal sex scenes showed condoms. In both homosexual and heterosexual movies, there was 0% of condom usage
for penile–oral contact (Grudzen, et al. 2009). These statistics suggest that condom usage among male homosexuals is more socially acceptable because
of the higher prevalence of HIV in that community. The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA compliance in the
Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen, et al., 2009). In 2004, there was a cluster of HIV infections in the
Californian adult film industry. Although adult film workers are supposed to voluntarily get tested monthly for HIV and other STIs, there is still a
window of time where the HIV virus is not detectable by test. It was during this window that a man infected 3 female adult film workers with HIV.

The Child Pornography Prevention Act Of 1996
Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition (2002) took away many sections of the Child Pornography Prevention Act of 1996. The Act made it illegal to
virtually possess or distribute child pornography. Congress passed the Protect Act in 2003 to advertise, solicit, or promote any material of minors
having sex or performing sexual acts. Michael Williams was in a chat room attempting to obtain child porn. A secret service agent instant messaged
with the man to bait him. Williams later wrote he had pictures of a four year old being raped. After receiving several pictures the agent got a warrant
for William's house. Williams was arrested under Section 2252 A of the Protect Act. Williams pleaded guilty but challenged the Acts constitutionality.

The Importance Of Child Pornography As A Victimless Crime
Some perceive the possession of child pornography as a victimless crime, claiming it is unnecessary to implement a lengthy prison sentence on
offenders who exclusively download and purchase the graphic imagery. No–contact offenders finance an industry constructed on sexually violating
vulnerable, nonconsenting children, creating a demand for obscene images of minors. Nonetheless, ownership of explicit photographs promoting child
exploitation carries no consistent legal consequence: "Federal law sets a mandatory minimum sentence for all child pornography crimes except
possession" (Roos 135). Law enforcement has struggled with regulating no–contact offenses due to unpredictable sentencing. Inconsistent legal
penalties for non–production offenses increase the demand for obscene imagery of victims by encouraging the endless production of child pornography,
necessitating a responsibility to improve current legislation that will mandate uniformity in the judicial system. Offenders in possession of child
pornography stalk the Internet for sexually explicit visual accounts of prepubescent and pubescent children. Every image depicting minors in abusive
situations signifies a child that has been defiled during a criminal act. Certain individuals believe possession of obscene photographs or videos
containing children is a non–violent crime because the accused has no physical contact with the victim. However, the owner of these graphic images
perpetuates the victims' suffering: ". .

Child Pornography And Child Abuse
When one thinks about child abuse, usually the first thing that comes to their mind is physical harm or aggressive behavior. However, the issue is
much more complex than one can think. Usually, child abuse can be manifested in both physical and emotional forms. Childhood is thought as to be
like a garden, protected by walls and hedges. However, in reality, most children are often neglected, abused and exploited. Child pornography and
sexual abuse are two of the most disturbing issues in the world today. Having a very international background, I was able to travel around the world
and learn about different cultures, especially those of third–world countries. I was able to see the immense amount of poverty, violence, and hatred in
all these countries, however, I have never thought about the amount of children that are forced into child trafficking, abuse, and pornography.
According to statistics, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse and self–report studies show that 20% of adult females and 5–10%
of adult males recall a childhood sexual assault or sexual abuse incident. In my opinion, this is horrifying and shocking to know that there are more
people than one might think that have been through some sort of sexual assault or sexual abuse. I have never taken the time to learn about how dozens
of children go through these traumatic and horror situations. Visiting orphanages when I travelled to India and China has impacted the way I see the

Essay about The Fight Against Child Pornography
In recent years, pornography has established itself as perhaps the most controversial topic arising out of the use of the Internet. The easy availability of
this type of sexually explicit material has caused a panic among government officials, family groups, religious groups and law enforcement bodies and
this panic has been perpetuated in the media.
One of the unique challenges to regulating or settling on the appropriate way to regulate is that there is no concrete definition of pornography. While
law enforcement bodies such as the police, prosecutors and judges, are accustomed to dealing with issues that are exclusive to the United States, the
Internet is a worldwide community with servers and members coming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second real issue is finding a way to regulate and enforce the removal of material that is agreed upon as being inappropriate for anyone to have
on the Internet. I am specifically touching on the issue of child pornography. While it is illegal in the United States, as it is in many countries,
government and law enforcement officials are having a difficult time catching offenders who post this type of material. So with this type of problem
concerning pornography this issue is not deciding on appropriate means of regulation, but rather how to enforce the regulation already in place.
It is obvious that for years, the government has been trying to regulate this type of content but has seen very limited success. Part of the reason for this
is because certain regulatory actions intended to protect only a small group, such as children, should not require the prohibition of material that adults
have access to in other arenas. It is for example, legal for people to rent pornographic movies or buy nude magazines, so distribution of this type of
material on the Internet should not be completely limited. People shouting out for protection of their 1st Amendment rights have made a good point
when arguing against complete censorship. What seems more feasible is a sort of multi–layered approach to regulate illegal and harmful content on the
Net. This would make it possible to form some sort of insulation for children

Child Sexual Abuse and Child Pornography
Child pornography is a broadly defined term mainly because there is no internationally agreed upon definition. There are also some conflicting laws
between different countries that further complicate the issue of child pornography. It can become difficult to prosecute with the increased use of
computers and anonymous online networks. Both the offenders and the victims can come from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. Child
pornography includes pictures or videos that present children being sexually abused. Child sexual abuse is defined as "any act, by an adult, involving a
child under the age of 15 years in sexual activity (Richards 2011, p. 1)." It tends to refer to a broad range of actions including touching, various types
of penetration, and actions that do not involve touching such as exhibition and voyeurism (Richards 2011). Child pornography is defined as "any
depiction of a child engaging in sexual acts" and a child is anyone under a given age, which can range from 16–18 years (Berlin & Sawyer 2012). This
is a more general definition, but the definition may be a little different depending on which country a person is in. This is part of what makes child
pornography offenses difficult to study online (Samenow 2012). Child pornography is a big deal because vulnerable children need to be protected
from exploitation by adults (Berlin & Sawyer 2012).

The Legality of Child Pornography Essays
The Legality of Child Pornography
Child pornography is an ongoing issue as technology progresses in today's world. Now there are ways to produce child pornography without actually
using a real child. While there are acts and laws to protect the children, there are still many unsatisfied people on each side of the issue. There are
people who believe the adult entertainment companies, who produce the child pornography; they believe that their First Amendment rights are being
violated with current acts and laws against it. There are also people who think that the current laws are not strict enough and that they need to outlaw
all types of child pornography. It is necessary for all sides of the issue to be considered and for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this time, adult entertainment companies were finding ways to entertain their pedophilic users while still obeying the law. Software was created that
could either alter the picture of an adult to make them appear as if they are under eighteen, or the software could create a child from the ingenuity of
the computer (Goodwin, 2001).
In response to this act, adult entertainment companies sued, claiming the act was unconstitutional in violation of the First Amendment. They argued
that they never actually used a child in any creation of images (Goodwin, 2001). As long as they didn't harm children, they were allowed to post any
images that they wanted. This angers many advocates against child pornography because it's possible that the viewing of child pornography is the
beginning of some child–rape and child molestation cases.
Another issue concerning child pornography is solicitation. While it is illegal to solicit child pornography, there is a way around it. With new
technology, it is possible to maintain a level of anonymity. Anonymity provides a way to distribute child pornography without being found and
arrested. There are arguments being made by law–enforcement agencies that they should be able to trace online activity for anyone they need to. They
want to require anonymity sites to keep ISPs so that records are kept of the true identities of the users

Controversy Of Child Pornography
In the censorship arena, there are variety of controversial, hateful and inappropriate topics debated for subjectivity. Yet, child pornography became the
"leading rationale for censorship" and was outlawed in 1982 by New York vs. Ferber (Mintcheva, p.167; Adler, p.228). Children are one of the most
exposed demographics in society because they don't have autonomy and are reliant on adults. Thus, the child pornography law aimed to prevent sexual
abuse and molestation. Amy Adler, contributor to Censoring Culture, argues that childpornography law is self–indulgent and further exacerbates the
problem by bringing it into the public eye (Adler, p. 229). She also cites taking on the "gaze of the pedophile" as part of the problem. By stooping to
the level of a sexual predator, courts and policy makers are making the problem worse. In an arena like the arts, where nudity and vulnerability are
king, this controversy over what is pornography is especially delicate.
The famous photographer Sally Mann photographed her children while they grew up in rural West Virginia. The images she made showed them
lying naked in fields, skinny dipping, falling down, and other every day interactions. Critics were shocked at these naked, uncensored familial
portraits and considered them to be child pornography. In New York vs. Ferber, a major tenant of the child pornography law includes the "lascivious
exhibition of the genitals" (Adler, p.230). Especially in art, however, who is to say what the

Virtual Child Pornography Case Study
Case 1–Virtual child pornography
Parties are The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act, the people in the porn video, and the people recording it. The moral issue is people that
are playing in porn videos posing as a child but is really an older person that looks young, also the people who think this is okay to watch. "Virtual child
pornography" is a term given to video depictions of child/child or child/adult sexual activity in which the "participants" are not actual children but
realistic computer–generated images of children. This was the reason that The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act banned this kind of porn
because this is not right to show children bodies off to people for pleasure.
As I did some research I see this, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I as well came across this as I researched about child porn, the "CPPA defined child pornography as: Any visual depiction, including any photography,
film, video, picture or computer–generated image or picture of sexually explicit conduct, where the production of such visual depiction is, or,
appears to be, of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; such visual depiction has been created, adapted, or modified to appear that an
identifiable minor is engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or such visual depiction is advertised, promoted, presented, described, or distributed in
such a manner that conveys the impression that the material is or contains a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct." This
to me is sickening and for a person to be able to go online and click in the search box and google or search in what even search engine they may use
and type child porn and can bare themselves to sit there and watch this is a very heartless person.
The question remains whether the government may criminalize the production and possession of "virtual child" pornography if no child is used in the
production of pornography and the images are completely fictional." My all around output on the child porn is that I think it is so disgusting and it is

Persuasive Essay On Cyber Bullying
According to a study from the Pew Research Center, 92% of American teens go online to post, like, comment, tweet, and re–tweet at least a hundred
photos a day. Preadolescents between the ages of 9–15 primarily use social media websites as a portal to communicate with past friends, find new ones,
and to post about their day. However, the use of these sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube etc. can put young kids at risk of being bullied
online, stalked by predators and pedophiles, and subjected to inappropriate pictures and videos. The truth is today youths lack the basic understanding
of the dangers that lurk within social media, and therefore should not be allowed to use them until they can fully comprehend all the risks attached to
using these sites.
A growing issue kids in America between the ages of 9–15 deal with today while using social media sites is online bullying, also known as
"cyberbullying." It is a known fact that bullying can start in school, and continue online. Young adolescents that use social media to harass their peers,
use them because they feel that it is the easiest, and the most effective way to torture their target without getting caught. Based off a recent study on
cyberbullying in 2014, it states that 52% of young adults have reported being bullied online by a member of their class (Cyber Bullying Statistics
2014, n.d.). Peer–on–peer online harassment is a serious issue that can come with some very upsetting consequences like suicide, or retaliation that
can change the lives of everyone around them. In a story like Grace K. McComas a 15–year–old Glenelg High student from Baltimore who committed
suicide on Easter morning of 2012 after being cyberbullied by her peers for months (Ames, n.d.). Also the story about Noel Estevez, a 14–year–old boy
from New York who killed his abuser by stabbing him 3 times on July of 2014, are some examples of how bullying on social media websites can
negatively affect young adults today. Kids should be banned from using social media until they understand that the comments and posts that they put
online can often come with consequences that can take their life, or the life of their victims.
Today's youth also face the risk of being stalked by

Child Pornography And Seek Restitution: A Case Study
"Victims of Child Pornography Have to Return to State Courts to Seek Restitution." In the case Paroline vs. the United States, which took place in
2014, it was affirmed that a child whose sexual abuse appeared in pornography was entitled to financial compensation under the federal Crime Victims
Restitution Act for direct, foreseeable, significant, and repeated harm from the viewing of child pornography images. (Karmen, 2016) Paroline vs. the
United States case is in reference to Doyle R. Paroline who plead guilty to possession of 300 images that were considered child pornography. (572 U.
S., 2014) In 1997, a girl named Amy was sexually abused by her uncle, Eugene Zebroski when she was eight–years–old. (Paulose, 2014) Consequently,

crimes. (572 U. S., 2014) Paroline was later sentenced to twenty–four months in prison; however, he was released while under supervision. The federal
statute mandated victims of child pornography are given full restitution. Therefore, whoever creates, distributes, and possesses material that is

Osborne v. Ohio
37 Ohio St.3d 249, 525 N.E2d1363
Osborne v. Ohio, 495 U.S. 103 (1990), is a Supreme Court of the United States case in which the Court held that the First Amendment allows states to
outlaw the mere possession, as distinct from the distribution, of child pornography. After Ohio police found photographs in petitioner Osborne's home,
each of which depicted a nude male adolescent posed in sexually explicit position, he was convicted of violating a state statute prohibiting any person
from possessing or viewing any material or performance showing a minor who is not his child or ward in a state of nudity unless the material or
performance is presented for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These harms include the psychological damage to children; both the children depicted in the pornography, for whom the images produced serve as a
permanent record of the abuse, and the children whom potential abusers might lure with such images. They were worried more upon protecting the
children and not having other children been lured when seeing the other children's images. Given the importance of the State's interest in protecting the
victims of child pornography, we cannot fault Ohio for attempting to stamp out this vice at all levels in the distribution chain. Even if the First
Amendment did not categorically forbid the government to ban the possession of child pornography, Osborne argued that the Ohio statute under which
he was convicted was overbroad. A ban on speech is overbroad if it outlaws both prohibited speech as well as a substantial amount of legitimate speech.
The statute, as written, banned depictions of nudity, and the Court had previously held that nudity was protected expression. But the Ohio Supreme
Court had held that the statute only applied to nudity that "constitutes a lewd exhibition or involves a graphic focus on the genitals, and where the
person depicted is neither the child nor the ward of the person charged" with violating it. Furthermore, the Ohio Supreme Court had required that the
defendant had to know that the images

Mr. Spencer, who lived with his sister, connected to the Internet through an account registered in his sister's name. He used LimeWire, a free
peer–to–peer file–sharing program, on his computer to download child pornography from the Internet. Det. Sgt. Darren Parisien of the Saskatoon Police
Service, using publicly accessible software, searched for anyone sharing child pornography. He could access whatever another user of the software
had in his or her shared folder. He could also obtain two numbers related to a given user: the IP address that matches to the specific Internet connection
through which a computer accesses the Internet and the globally unique identifier (GUID) number assigned to each computer using particular
software. The IP address of the computer is displayed as part of the file–sharing process. Det. Sgt. Parisien created a list of IP addresses for computers
that had shared what he believed to be child pornography. He then ran that list of IP addresses against a database which matches IP addresses with
approximate locations. He found that one of the IP addresses was suspected to be in Saskatoon, with Shaw as the ISP. Det. Sgt. Parisien then
determined that Mr. Spencer's computer was online and connected to LimeWire. He was able to look through the shared folder. He saw an extensive

Law enforcement men and women put their lives on the line to serve and protect the communities that they live in but it is when one or two of those
make a bad decision that can quickly change the perspective of society. This perspective of trust, respect, safety and integrity can be changed in a
short time by a few unethical choices and to rebuild that perspective can take many years. This is a sad world that we live in when we cannot trust the
people that have sworn to serve and protect our communities to make the right decisions when it comes to their duties.

Case 1(Ruggiero 173). We have the debate and Supreme Court ruling in 2002 that stated the ban on 'virtual child pornography' was unconstitutional,

this ungodly entertainment for sick minded pedophiles, the US Supreme Court who have taken an oath to protect the innocent, and the putrid
pedophiles who watch this abomination of god and all that is evil. In addition to every child that ever was, and every child that will be sexually

Online Child Sexual Abuse Is The Case Of Michael Dean Ross
Introduction
There is an issue with the evolution of technology and how it is implemented for online child sexual abuse that needs to be addressed.
Traditionally, offenders would be limited to what they were able to do with a limitation in resources as a specific pool of potential victims.
However, technology has opened up new avenues and resources that offenders can use. Online child sexual abuse is a prominent issue as technology
is allowing offenders more access to material, better ways to remain hidden, and access to victims that may not have originally been available. One
recent example of how technology can be used for the sexual abuse of children is the case of Michael Dean Ross.
Online child sexual abuse would be classified as a cybercrime as the crime "involved a computer and a network, where a computer may or may not
have played an instrumental part in the commission of the crime" (Moore, 4). Cybercrimes are generally consists of computer–related activities that are
considered illegal and be conducted throughout the global electronic network (Choi, 3). There is a range of illegal activities that are arising concerning
this cybercrime, including solicitation and the creation and distribution of child pornography (Seto). The Internet is becoming a popular avenue where
61% of offenders in a study used only the Internet to commit crimes against children (Mitchell, 54). The primary methods that the Internet was utilized

Morphing Of The 1996 Child Pornography Prevention Act
Morphing of Child Porn
At issue before the Circuit Courts has been the constitutionality of the 1996 Child Pornography Prevention Act (CPPA) in which Congress sought to
modernize federal law by enhancing its ability to combat child pornography in the cyberspace era(Free Speech). There is a split in the circuit courts
regarding this bill, and this essay will address the discrepancy.
This piece of legislation classifies an image that "appears to be" or "conveys the impression" of a minor engaging in sexually explicit acts as "virtual"

Hilton, that the CPPA's definition of child pornography withstands constitutional scrutiny. The First Circuit found itself "firmly satisfied that it is well
within Congress's power to regulate virtual pornography of minors of all ages."(United)
The Ninth Circuit recognized there is a compelling interest in banning child pornography but stated that the U.S. Supreme Court in Ferber "implicitly
rejected the regulation of pornography that does not involve minors." Where the Ninth Circuit had hinged its ruling on the existence of an actual live
child, the First Circuit instead focused upon the social ills of the pornography itself.
The First Circuit explained that "The government's interest in addressing these forms of child pornography is no less powerful than in instances where
an actual child is used and abused during the production process. We will not second–guess Congress's decision to address the social ills posed by the
various types of virtual child pornography."(United)
Along the same lines, the Eleventh Circuit, in United States v. Acheson, centered it's decision around the Congressional purpose for enactment of
CPPA– the harmful effects of the child

The Effects Of Internet On Children And Young People
Practitioners have a responsibility towards children and young people to make them aware of the dangers which they may face in the outside world.
In school, this awareness has historically been around issues such as road safety, stranger danger and how to treat and respond to others. As well as
being an additional resource, the emergence of the Internet has opened up a wide range of additional threats to children. As many children now have
access to a computer in their own homes it is important for all children to become familiar with them and be able to use them with ease. E–mail and

Although there are now steps being taken in the UK to help protect children and young people such as Internet filters, these usually have to be

E–safety issues include potential dangerous contacts and commercial activities that children can fall victims to. According to statistics, half of the
young people questioned say they have given out personal information (full names, ages, email address, phone numbers, hobbies or names of their
school) to somebody they met on the Internet. These children can easily be misled by a potential child groomer who poses as another child of their age
from the same area, gaining their trust and getting close to them. They can become victims without realising as they wrongly believe that they are
chatting to other children because they cannot see who they are chatting to in the online chat rooms that they use. The intentions of the person
masquerading as a child may vary from downloading personal photos to as far as child trafficking but in any case they pose a great threat to children.
Statistics also show that only five per cent of parents think their children have given out personal information on the Internet, showing the

We Must Make Virtual Child Pornography Illegal Essay
The Supreme Court lifted a 1996 act banning virtual child pornography. The six to three ruling, led by Justice Anthony Kennedy, says the law violates
First Amendment freedom of speech rights guaranteed to every citizen of the United States of America. Although many free speech advocates are
shouting victory, many citizens across the country are lamenting over the loss in the fight against child pornography.
Child pornography has been present in society for centuries, but has only recently become more accessible through the development of the printing press
and subsequently, the technology of the Internet. Until the mid–1990s, "illegal child pornography [had only] involved depictions of actual children

Quick to validate the new law, Congress proclaimed that "child pornography is often used as part of a method of seducing other children into sexual
activity" (Slade). Congress further went on to say that with recent technology, having the ability to alter and enhance sexually exploitive images might
"render enforcement against pornography using real children impossible" because determining real pictures from enhanced picture had the probability
of being a very daunting and challenging task. This strengthened the government's argument that the law had a significant potential to protect many
children from molestation and abuse.
Child pornography laws instated during the 1970s were some of the first in the crusade to protect children from sexual predators. This was because
most of national news magazines were printing detailed articles concerning child sexual abuse at the time. In just a few weeks, "a national campaign
against the making and sale of child pornography exploded" (Finkelhor 1) and politicians took note. In 1977, the government enacted the Sexual
Exploitation of Children Act which prohibited sexually explicit photography of minors, the use of minors in production of pornography, and any
material promoting child pornography. Due to misunderstandings of what "minor" really meant, the Child Protection Act of 1984 was ratified. It was
then concluded that

Muskegee Police Department Case Study

  • 1. Muskegee Police Department Case Study On January 5th, 2017, the Muskogee Police Department began an investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography, by the suspect, Zackery Perry ("Perry")(MPD Case #2017–557). Through the investigation and the analysis of electronic evidence that Perry possessed and was collected during a search warrant of his residence, a local juvenile victim was identified as Brooklyn Skelton ("Brooklyn")(age 7). On February 2nd, 2017 at approximately 9:00 AM, the evidence analyzed depicted Brooklyn being photographed wearing lingerie, wearing no clothing at all, posing in provocative positions for the photographs, and with sexual acts being performed to her, as well as her performing sexual acts to an adult female, the victim. Also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Members of the United States Marshals Service had eyes on the residence, confirming this was her residence and any and all parties present within the residence to the best possible knowledge. At approximately 12:00 PM the warrant was served at RR3 Box 598 in Stilwell, OK. Upon approach of the residence, Skelton opened the side door and was given commands to exit the residence, where she was placed into custody. She informed us her 2 year old daughter and fiancГ© were still in the residence. Kevin Bray ("Bray"), Skelton's fiancГ© then was commanded to exit the residence and was detained. 2 year old, Aubrey Humphrey was brought out of the residence last and sat with DHS and a member of the USMS. The residence was cleared to ensure there were no other parties or threats were present inside the residence. I explained to Bray, we have a search warrant for his residence and provided him with a copy of the warrant to look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Sexting Among Teenage Girls and Boys Over the last few years, there has been a lot of discussion and debate over the topic of sexting. It has become a widespread phenomenon, the number of teenage girls and boys, men and women who participate are rapidly increasing, and with this too comes the rise of moral panic within societies. Individuals within the communities are becoming more and more fearful, afraid and shocked at this new form of youth culture hysteria. Although young people 'expressing' their sexuality has become much more open and free as of the last decade or so, the real uproar of panic is due to the risks they involving themselves in as well as the damage and harm they are inflicting on themselves, whether they know it or not. Sexting is 'the act of sending, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And this is what is key to the moral panic of sexting, constant over exaggeration. As stated before the technology and means to sext have always been available, so why now is there such anxiety and fear towards sexting? A reason as to why this may be so, is because of the number of teens who have committed suicide over leaked sexts. One of the most infamous cases of suicide related to this issue is of 18 year old Jesse Logan who was mercilessly harassed at the hands of her peers. She was dating a 19 year old boy and had sent him nude pictures of herself. However after they broke up, he sent those photos to another girl who then sent them to others and soon the whole school knew about it and had seen the photos. From there is where the severe bullying started. On the Today show Jesse's friend, Lauren Taylor told NBC News about some of the abuse which was inflicted upon Jessie Logan. She says 'When she would come to school, she would always hear, "Oh, that's the girl who sent the picture. She's just a whore" '. Her mother Cynthia Logan said that 'She was being attacked and tortured'. Even through the bullying Jesse Logan made the decision to appear on a tv station to tell her story and make sure no one else makes the same mistake. After enduring further harassment and abuse, Jesse was finally able to graduate and looked to move on with her life. But after attending the funeral of one of her friends the following year who had committed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Sexting Phenomenon Essay Cell phones are common objects found in the pockets and bags of almost everyone one in the world. Recently, cell phones have been getting teens and adults into trouble. Most individuals send and receive text messages. The newest trend among some individuals is "sex–texting" or "sexting." Sexting is a dangerous yet contagious phenomenon contaminating the lives of teens and adults all over the country, if not the world. This phenomenon can have serious consequences. Even after surveying 1300 teenagers, one in five say they've sexted, although they know that it could be a crime (Feyerick and Steffen). Sexting is a growing epidemic and the only way to prohibit its growth is to develop close relationships with the kids of today's... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only can sexting get attention, but it can also be used as a tool to get a man interested, if not already interested. Awoman who has sexted before claimed that sexting is just another tool in the arsenal to flirting (Tapper). In that same article, another woman said that sexting "lets your inner woman out. (With your cell phone) you can be the freakiest, dirtiest and most sexually uninhibited woman around." This same woman also claimed that sexting is "another tool in the arsenal to stay on his mind 24/7" (Tapper). Teenagers see sexting as high–tech flirting as well (Kingston). Sexting isn't just something to do while bored or to get attention, but it's also used to stay on the mind of his or her lover all the time. Although it is a useful tool to get on someone's mind, sexting can alter, if not destroy, the perception of how we look at thehuman body. It can be a piece of beauty that we should care for, or it can be a piece of garbage that we can toss to whomever we'd like. Sexting is degrading the image of the body. Kids and even some adults need to know about the importance and beauty of the body. If we teach the sexting population about how to care and respect the body, then maybe we can decrease the amount of people sexting (Rede). But, part of the problem with this solution is that some individuals fell they already know about the importance of the body and they don't think that way. Instead, ... • 4. Beauty Pages : The World Of Child Beauty Pageants The world of child beauty pageants is similar to the twilight zone. It's hard to believe that children as young as 2, have hair extensions, professional grade makeup, and spray tans. TLC's hit television show "Toddlers & Tiara's", depicts the horrifying and true events of what actually goes on in these pageants. Nationally broadcasting the inherent sexualization of little girls for all to see has become completely desensitized. The lasting effects that preforming in beauty pageants has on girls who have been through years of competing is far greater than the trophies and tiara's displayed on their shelves. Dressing toddlers in costumes, forcing them to dance and parade around on stage only to be judged on who is the prettiest by adults is sick and disturbed. After the tragic unsolved murder of 5–year old beauty pageant girl JonBenet Ramsey, many people were appalled with what they saw after looking into the industry. People could not believe that six year olds were parading around on stage in a full face of makeup (Hollandsworth). However, with the rise of shows like TLC's "Toddlers and Tiaras," child beauty pageants have become a much more desensitized subject. The general format of the show is always the same. Following two or three young girls, almost always white, anywhere between the ages of two to nine years, "not only giving out the names of these children, but they also tell you what towns these little girls live in" (hollandsworth). The show captures what goes into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Child Pornography In most states, teenagers who send or receive sexually explicit photographs via cell phone, known as "sexting", risk felony child pornography charges and the stigma of being listed on the sex offender registry for life. The fact that sexting can fall under child pornography laws has created some heated conversations and understandably so. There are numerous thoughts and opinions on the matter. The majority of the time, sexting in teenagers isn't meant to be malicious, isn't child pornography therefore shouldn't carry such a like punishment. Teenagers sending a "sext" to another teenager isn't meant as a malicious act but rather a way of flirting and letting the other person know they are interested in them in most cases. While this behavior may cross moral lines it should not ruin their lives as a blatant crossing of legal lines. If messages containing sexually explicit pictures, or videos are sent between teens are meant to hurt someones reputation then that is a different story. Many states today are struggling to write laws that create clear lines regarding this problem. Sexting can be very serious and certainly needs to be addressed however, in the meantime, we cannot be putting children behinds bars or labeling them as sex offenders.
  • 6. Typical teenage sexting is not child pornography. Child pornography is a criminal offense and is defined by HG.org as any visual depiction involving the use of a minor, or one appearing to be a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Visual depictions include photographs, film, video, pictures or computer–generated images or pictures, whether made or produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means. This is a clear definition of an act. Sexting with teenagers today is more of a flirtatious way to start a relationship or to maintain a 3 relationship with another teenager. Most sext messages contain images meant to entice the other person into wanting to spend more time with the sending individual. They are desires to attract another, not images of sexual acts and therefore should not be considered child pornography. Sexting laws are very new and are not clearly defined yet, therefore should not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Summary Of Child Pornography Summary of Child Pornography, the Internet and Juvenile Suspects This research article by Leukfeldt, Jansen, and Stol focuses on adolescents who engage in child pornography. As soon as a young person takes sexualized pictures or videos of themselves and/or others and then post them on the internet it must be dealt with through the police. They find it hard to determine as who is the offender and who is the victim since majority of all youths will produce and distribute a photo at some point in their adolescents, which can be defined as child pornography. There are many problems that arise from adolescents who engage in sharing sexualized photos online, such as if they are in a relationship does it make it any different and should it be ignored or not? Summary of Data–Based Profiling of Internet Child Pornography Offenders In this article produced by Vasudevan, Ross, Eccleston, and Pradhan they talk about how child pornography has become an increasing issue in the world for children today. This study focuses on demographic and offending characteristics of two different groups, which are the non–contact and the contact internet sex offenders. They explore whether the offenders had any prior convictions of criminal history either non–sexual or sexual. They discovered differences between non–contact and contact offenders in their education level, career, criminal history and childhood background. • 9. Anony Anonymous Research Paper On February 6, hackers associated with Anonymous took down 20% of the deep web in a campaign against a host provider called Freedom Hosting 2. It was found that the host had multiple files of child pornography in its databases. Over 1,000 sites were taken offline and in place, a message was shown, saying how they were "disappointed they violated their zero tolerance for child pornography". Anonymous is a hacktivism group with no leaders, identity, or nationality who are responsible for multiple attacks on websites and servers. Anonymous' operations consist of a period of 25 days where the target is hacked, and information is stolen. • 10. The Sexual Exploitation Of Youth INTRODUCTION In an era where internet and social media dominate, there must be a consideration of legal issues concerning privacy rights. But where is the line drawn when it may be associated with the sexual exploitation of youth? R. v. Barabash, 2015 SCC 29 [Barabash] is a circumstantial case that centres on concerns of privacy rights involving private use, child pornography, as well as regarding the establishments of exploitation and consent. Barabash involved two fourteen year old girls who were runaways, dependant on drugs and involved in prostitution. According to Statistics Canada (2008) at the time of this case, youth aged 12 to 14 were twice as likely to experience sexual violence then that of young adults, this statistic was even higher if the victim is female (Sexual Assault, para. 4). While they were staying with two significantly older men they were involved in sexual activity that was videotaped and photographed. Under s.163.1(2) of the Criminal Code the men were charged for making child pornography as well as the older man was charged with possession of child pornography under s. 163.1(4). While the trial judge found all elements of the offences were established, the accused raised in defence the private use exception outlined in R. v. Sharpe, 2001 SCC 2 [Sharpe], which the judge failed to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt. Through theoretical and legal frameworks this paper will analyze the defence of private use through objective analysis with reference to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. An Article On The Internet Anonymous is a network of hackers who have eyes and ears all over the Internet. Its very creepy, they have their technological hands in everything, and quietly lurk, evaluating the problems presented by communities and weighing in. Every once in a while we hear from them and their opinion. They merge into a single entity, kind of how we talk about the Internet. It's a collection of "things" but this collection makes it into a person, or a thing. They usually come into the light when gross violations of life laws are evident. Usually its censorship, something that is majorly important to the online community. For example this group held a nationwide peace protest across major cities in India, to send a message to the Indian government, halting major activities and turning the worlds internet eyes on them as a form of pressure. They also hate general shitty humans. In October, of 2012 this same infiltrated and knocked some 40 child pornography Web sites offline. The group also said it published the names of visitors to one of the sites. The list, Anonymous said, is fair game for authorities to use in cases against illegal child pornography sites and their visitors. Heres what they said: "If the FBI, Interpol, or other law enforcement agency should happen to come across this list, please use it to investigate and bring justice to the people listed here," Cool huh? Knocking down these perverts and handing them on a silver platter to the police right? But see, if we look at it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Victims Of Electronic Crime WHAT IS ELECTRONIC CRIME? Electronic crime is also known as computer–related crimes, high–tech crimes or cybercrime. The term describes both crimes directed at computers or other carrier servers and crimes that use computers or networks to make the offence. These crimes are often driven by the intention to ruin one's reputation, harm someone physically or mentally, and/or cause loss to the victim directly or indirectly for their own personal gain. Some examples of electronic crime include: phishing, copyright infringement, viruses, child pornography, child grooming, cyberterrorism, cyberbullying, defamation etc. HOW DOES THE ISSUE IMPACT SOCIETY? Due to the increasing use of technology today, we are all vulnerable to being a victim of electronic crime. Although we are all becoming more reliant on technology, people continue to not take basic precautions such as setting passwords leaving their security level very low. Additionally, these crimes are quite frequent as it is harder to track and catch the criminal as they are able to remain relatively anonymous behind a screen and not physically at the scene. Cyber criminals are very manipulative and often have complicated plans to get what they want. For example, on online shopping sites you must provide all your personal details including your home address and your credit card number. From there, they may hack the site and get your details or create an email or website to mimic it so that you are unknowingly handing them your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Negative Effects On Social Media In the past decade, the use of social media has been on the rise due to its easy accessibility on cellular devices. Almost seventy–five percent of adolescents and teens have a cell phone, where twenty–four percent feel as though they are "constantly connected", and fifty percent confess feeling addicted to their cell phones. Overall, social media does have qualities that do benefit some people. Some of which include the ability to access new concepts and information, the ability to easily communicate with others, and help with early learning. Although, it is when social media is not used in moderation or when it is not used with the right intentions, that the lines start to get blurred. The negative affects social networking sites can have on teens and adolescence include larger rates of obesity, feelings of depression, having access to false information and unsuitable subject matters, and the loss of privacy. Social media has negative effects on mental health by subjecting teens and adolescents and introducing them to the dangers of cyberbullying, child grooming, and sleep deprivation. Cyberbullying is when an individual or group of people, intentionally hurt defenseless people online repeatedly who can't stick up for themselves. The amount of victims that stem from cyberbullying have a range anywhere from ten to forty percent, based on how the definition is interpreted and the age of the individuals involved. • 15. Sexting Child Pornography Some people believe that sexting should not be criminalized or treated as "distribution of child pornography". After researching, sexting has seemed less and less harmful. Sexting is seen as an act or discretion only done by kids, but that isn't always the case, so why have the same punishment for an adult as you would have for a minor, when minors are not given the same rights as adults. The sentencing for sexting or "distribution of child pornography" should become circumstantial. Sexting is not always harmful and should be seen as the act of a criminal. Sexting among teens should not be criminalized. Current child pornography laws are designed to protect children, but when applied to sexting and teens, it subjects youths to potential felony charges, which can ruin their lives by labeling them as sex offenders and confusing them with adults convicted of heinous sex crimes against minors. (American Civil Liberties Unions). As a child or an adult, being labeled as a sex offender can ruin the person's life and can limit them on many things later in life. Sex offenders have certain guidelines that they have to follow such as; a sex offender can not live near any school and a sex offender must register each year as a sex offender, they can not join any form of military, and before moving into any neighborhood they must go to each person's house and notify the person that they are a state registered sex offender.Existing criminal laws, that carry the potential for a felony conviction and sex offender restrictions, are not meant to address teen sexting. Under the existing laws and their extensive punitive effects, these teens will be stripped of a future as their education and work prospects will be bleak. Teens should become exempt from these charges or misdemeanors, on the bases that they are only kids and still minors. Teens should be educated about responsible behavior when it comes to media. There should be punishment for any picture sent without consent, for instance any pornographic or any form of sexting picture randomly sent without the receiving person wanting or giving consent should be met with a punishment, but still not a punishment that will follow them for the rest of their life. There are no other legal occupations in America where the exposure to diseases is an acceptable and unavoidable work practice. This paper will go into depth about some of the risks that adult film workers face, the prevalence of STIs in the adult film industry, whether or not the industry should be regulated, and some potential policy implementations for the future health of adult film workers. Every year up to 11,000 adult films are made in the US alone. It is a multi billion–dollar industry that employs approximately 75% women. In homosexual films, the researchers noted that 80% of penile–anal sex scenes showed condoms. In both homosexual and heterosexual movies, there was 0% of condom usage for penile–oral contact (Grudzen, et al. 2009). These statistics suggest that condom usage among male homosexuals is more socially acceptable because of the higher prevalence of HIV in that community. The low usage of condoms in heterosexual films also suggests that OSHA compliance in the Californian adult film industry needs to be more heavily regulated (Grudzen, et al., 2009). In 2004, there was a cluster of HIV infections in the Californian adult film industry. Although adult film workers are supposed to voluntarily get tested monthly for HIV and other STIs, there is still a window of time where the HIV virus is not detectable by test. It was during this window that a man infected 3 female adult film workers with HIV. • 19. The Importance Of Child Pornography As A Victimless Crime Some perceive the possession of child pornography as a victimless crime, claiming it is unnecessary to implement a lengthy prison sentence on offenders who exclusively download and purchase the graphic imagery. No–contact offenders finance an industry constructed on sexually violating vulnerable, nonconsenting children, creating a demand for obscene images of minors. Nonetheless, ownership of explicit photographs promoting child exploitation carries no consistent legal consequence: "Federal law sets a mandatory minimum sentence for all child pornography crimes except possession" (Roos 135). Law enforcement has struggled with regulating no–contact offenses due to unpredictable sentencing. Inconsistent legal penalties for non–production offenses increase the demand for obscene imagery of victims by encouraging the endless production of child pornography, necessitating a responsibility to improve current legislation that will mandate uniformity in the judicial system. Offenders in possession of child pornography stalk the Internet for sexually explicit visual accounts of prepubescent and pubescent children. Every image depicting minors in abusive situations signifies a child that has been defiled during a criminal act. Certain individuals believe possession of obscene photographs or videos containing children is a non–violent crime because the accused has no physical contact with the victim. However, the issue is much more complex than one can think. Usually, child abuse can be manifested in both physical and emotional forms. Childhood is thought as to be like a garden, protected by walls and hedges. However, in reality, most children are often neglected, abused and exploited. Child pornography and sexual abuse are two of the most disturbing issues in the world today. Having a very international background, I was able to travel around the world and learn about different cultures, especially those of third–world countries. I was able to see the immense amount of poverty, violence, and hatred in all these countries, however, I have never thought about the amount of children that are forced into child trafficking, abuse, and pornography. According to statistics, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse and self–report studies show that 20% of adult females and 5–10% of adult males recall a childhood sexual assault or sexual abuse incident. In my opinion, this is horrifying and shocking to know that there are more people than one might think that have been through some sort of sexual assault or sexual abuse. The easy availability of this type of sexually explicit material has caused a panic among government officials, family groups, religious groups and law enforcement bodies and this panic has been perpetuated in the media. One of the unique challenges to regulating or settling on the appropriate way to regulate is that there is no concrete definition of pornography. The second real issue is finding a way to regulate and enforce the removal of material that is agreed upon as being inappropriate for anyone to have on the Internet. I am specifically touching on the issue of child pornography. While it is illegal in the United States, as it is in many countries, government and law enforcement officials are having a difficult time catching offenders who post this type of material. So with this type of problem concerning pornography this issue is not deciding on appropriate means of regulation, but rather how to enforce the regulation already in place. It is obvious that for years, the government has been trying to regulate this type of content but has seen very limited success. Part of the reason for this is because certain regulatory actions intended to protect only a small group, such as children, should not require the prohibition of material that adults have access to in other arenas. It is for example, legal for people to rent pornographic movies or buy nude magazines, so distribution of this type of material on the Internet should not be completely limited. People shouting out for protection of their 1st Amendment rights have made a good point when arguing against complete censorship. What seems more feasible is a sort of multi–layered approach to regulate illegal and harmful content on the Net. This would make it possible to form some sort of insulation for children ... • 22. Child Sexual Abuse and Child Pornography Child pornography is a broadly defined term mainly because there is no internationally agreed upon definition. There are also some conflicting laws between different countries that further complicate the issue of child pornography. It can become difficult to prosecute with the increased use of computers and anonymous online networks. Both the offenders and the victims can come from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. Child pornography includes pictures or videos that present children being sexually abused. Child sexual abuse is defined as "any act, by an adult, involving a child under the age of 15 years in sexual activity (Richards 2011, p. 1)." It tends to refer to a broad range of actions including touching, various types of penetration, and actions that do not involve touching such as exhibition and voyeurism (Richards 2011). Child pornography is defined as "any depiction of a child engaging in sexual acts" and a child is anyone under a given age, which can range from 16–18 years (Berlin & Sawyer 2012). This is a more general definition, but the definition may be a little different depending on which country a person is in. This is part of what makes child pornography offenses difficult to study online (Samenow 2012). Software was created that could either alter the picture of an adult to make them appear as if they are under eighteen, or the software could create a child from the ingenuity of the computer (Goodwin, 2001). In response to this act, adult entertainment companies sued, claiming the act was unconstitutional in violation of the First Amendment. They argued that they never actually used a child in any creation of images (Goodwin, 2001). As long as they didn't harm children, they were allowed to post any images that they wanted. • 25. Controversy Of Child Pornography In the censorship arena, there are variety of controversial, hateful and inappropriate topics debated for subjectivity. Yet, child pornography became the "leading rationale for censorship" and was outlawed in 1982 by New York vs. Ferber (Mintcheva, p.167; Adler, p.228). Children are one of the most exposed demographics in society because they don't have autonomy and are reliant on adults. Thus, the child pornography law aimed to prevent sexual abuse and molestation. Amy Adler, contributor to Censoring Culture, argues that childpornography law is self–indulgent and further exacerbates the problem by bringing it into the public eye (Adler, p. 229). She also cites taking on the "gaze of the pedophile" as part of the problem. By stooping to the level of a sexual predator, courts and policy makers are making the problem worse. In an arena like the arts, where nudity and vulnerability are king, this controversy over what is pornography is especially delicate. The famous photographer Sally Mann photographed her children while they grew up in rural West Virginia. The images she made showed them lying naked in fields, skinny dipping, falling down, and other every day interactions. Critics were shocked at these naked, uncensored familial portraits and considered them to be child pornography. In New York vs. Ferber, a major tenant of the child pornography law includes the "lascivious exhibition of the genitals" (Adler, p.230). Especially in art, however, who is to say what the ... This to me is sickening and for a person to be able to go online and click in the search box and google or search in what even search engine they may use and type child porn and can bare themselves to sit there and watch this is a very heartless person. • 27. Persuasive Essay On Cyber Bullying According to a study from the Pew Research Center, 92% of American teens go online to post, like, comment, tweet, and re–tweet at least a hundred photos a day. Preadolescents between the ages of 9–15 primarily use social media websites as a portal to communicate with past friends, find new ones, and to post about their day. However, the use of these sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube etc. can put young kids at risk of being bullied online, stalked by predators and pedophiles, and subjected to inappropriate pictures and videos. The truth is today youths lack the basic understanding of the dangers that lurk within social media, and therefore should not be allowed to use them until they can fully comprehend all the risks attached to using these sites. A growing issue kids in America between the ages of 9–15 deal with today while using social media sites is online bullying, also known as "cyberbullying." It is a known fact that bullying can start in school, and continue online. Young adolescents that use social media to harass their peers, use them because they feel that it is the easiest, and the most effective way to torture their target without getting caught. Based off a recent study on cyberbullying in 2014, it states that 52% of young adults have reported being bullied online by a member of their class (Cyber Bullying Statistics 2014, n.d.). Peer–on–peer online harassment is a serious issue that can come with some very upsetting consequences like suicide, or retaliation that can change the lives of everyone around them. In a story like Grace K. McComas a 15–year–old Glenelg High student from Baltimore who committed suicide on Easter morning of 2012 after being cyberbullied by her peers for months (Ames, n.d.). Also the story about Noel Estevez, a 14–year–old boy from New York who killed his abuser by stabbing him 3 times on July of 2014, are some examples of how bullying on social media websites can negatively affect young adults today. After Ohio police found photographs in petitioner Osborne's home, each of which depicted a nude male adolescent posed in sexually explicit position, he was convicted of violating a state statute prohibiting any person from possessing or viewing any material or performance showing a minor who is not his child or ward in a state of nudity unless the material or performance is presented for a ... Given the importance of the State's interest in protecting the victims of child pornography, we cannot fault Ohio for attempting to stamp out this vice at all levels in the distribution chain. • 34. The Debate On Virtual Child Pornography Lindsay Hall Thinking and Doing Ethics Professor Wisniewski November December 8, 2015 Word count 849 Case 1(Ruggiero 173). We have the debate and Supreme Court ruling in 2002 that stated the ban on 'virtual child pornography' was unconstitutional, and in turn, The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act was overturned. The parties involved are the disgusting, scum of the earth who produce this ungodly entertainment for sick minded pedophiles, the US Supreme Court who have taken an oath to protect the innocent, and the putrid pedophiles who watch this abomination of god and all that is evil. In addition to every child that ever was, and every child that will be sexually abused in the future because some sick f!*k gets his/her jollies off by watching children being tortured, and will at some point in time inflict the lifelong pain and suffering that one goes through, because they were sexually abused. (Emphasis intentionally and harshly added)The morals are, sex with children is immoral, an abomination to God's teachings, watching the same, even if only graphics is still a grave sin. If you think of doing sin, it is as bad as the sin itself. Therefore, watching a cartoon of a child being abused and having sexual gratification in that act, is as bad as one who actually commits the act. "You heard it was said, 'Do not commit adultery,' but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman in order to covet her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew ... • 35. Online Child Sexual Abuse Is The Case Of Michael Dean Ross Introduction There is an issue with the evolution of technology and how it is implemented for online child sexual abuse that needs to be addressed. Traditionally, offenders would be limited to what they were able to do with a limitation in resources as a specific pool of potential victims. However, technology has opened up new avenues and resources that offenders can use. Online child sexual abuse is a prominent issue as technology is allowing offenders more access to material, better ways to remain hidden, and access to victims that may not have originally been available. One recent example of how technology can be used for the sexual abuse of children is the case of Michael Dean Ross. Online child sexual abuse would be classified as a cybercrime as the crime "involved a computer and a network, where a computer may or may not have played an instrumental part in the commission of the crime" (Moore, 4). Cybercrimes are generally consists of computer–related activities that are considered illegal and be conducted throughout the global electronic network (Choi, 3). There is a range of illegal activities that are arising concerning this cybercrime, including solicitation and the creation and distribution of child pornography (Seto). The Internet is becoming a popular avenue where 61% of offenders in a study used only the Internet to commit crimes against children (Mitchell, 54). • 37. Morphing Of The 1996 Child Pornography Prevention Act Morphing of Child Porn At issue before the Circuit Courts has been the constitutionality of the 1996 Child Pornography Prevention Act (CPPA) in which Congress sought to modernize federal law by enhancing its ability to combat child pornography in the cyberspace era(Free Speech). There is a split in the circuit courts regarding this bill, and this essay will address the discrepancy. This piece of legislation classifies an image that "appears to be" or "conveys the impression" of a minor engaging in sexually explicit acts as "virtual" child pornography. Such images include a photograph of a real child that may be scanned, replicated and manipulated by computer to create a sexually–oriented photo, or a wholly fake child ... The First Circuit found itself "firmly satisfied that it is well within Congress's power to regulate virtual pornography of minors of all ages."(United) The Ninth Circuit recognized there is a compelling interest in banning child pornography but stated that the U.S. Supreme Court in Ferber "implicitly rejected the regulation of pornography that does not involve minors." Where the Ninth Circuit had hinged its ruling on the existence of an actual live child, the First Circuit instead focused upon the social ills of the pornography itself. The First Circuit explained that "The government's interest in addressing these forms of child pornography is no less powerful than in instances where an actual child is used and abused during the production process. We will not second–guess Congress's decision to address the social ills posed by the various types of virtual child pornography."(United) Along the same lines, the Eleventh Circuit, in United States v. Acheson, centered it's decision around the Congressional purpose for enactment of CPPA– the harmful effects of the child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Essay On Caregiver Strain Additional research was conducted by Reid (2011) to explore whether caregiver strain is linked to child maltreatment, if experiencing maltreatment is associated with risk–inflating behaviors or sexual denigration of self or other, and if these behavioral and psychosocial dysfunctions are related to vulnerability to commercial sexual exploitation. The sample included data from 174 predominately African American women. The results indicated that child maltreatment worsened with an increased caregiver strain. Experiencing child maltreatment was also linked to running away, initiating substance use at earlier ages, and higher levels of sexual denigration of self or others. The sample consisted of data from 426 individuals who were between the ages of 14 and 24 years old. The results indicated that 41 percent of the sample were consistently sheltered. These individuals often were in the younger age group, did not use drugs other than alcohol or marijuana, they were less involved in informal sector activities, they were able to go home, and were typically homeless for one year. Approximately 20 percent were inconsistently sheltered for a short term. These individuals were often able to go home and not have had to leave on one's own accord. Roughly 39 percent were inconsistently sheltered for a long term. The findings suggested the importance of preventing homeless youth from spending nights in unsheltered locations. Future research is needed that recruits' youth from the street setting in order to identify additional trajectories of homelessness. However, the timing of the assessments may have limited the number of trajectories that were identified and the study did not evaluate whether childhood neglect or abuse were predictors of youth remaining or returning to shelters (Tevendale, Comulada, & Lightfoot, ... • 39. The Effects Of Internet On Children And Young People Practitioners have a responsibility towards children and young people to make them aware of the dangers which they may face in the outside world. In school, this awareness has historically been around issues such as road safety, stranger danger and how to treat and respond to others. As well as being an additional resource, the emergence of the Internet has opened up a wide range of additional threats to children. As many children now have access to a computer in their own homes it is important for all children to become familiar with them and be able to use them with ease. E–mail and the Internet are becoming increasingly common methods of communication and this can open up a new way of learning for children, providing that they are used ... Although there are now steps being taken in the UK to help protect children and young people such as Internet filters, these usually have to be requested by parents/carers. If a child is registered as the use then they will not be able to access material that is rated as 18+. E–safety issues include potential dangerous contacts and commercial activities that children can fall victims to. According to statistics, half of the young people questioned say they have given out personal information (full names, ages, email address, phone numbers, hobbies or names of their school) to somebody they met on the Internet. These children can easily be misled by a potential child groomer who poses as another child of their age from the same area, gaining their trust and getting close to them. They can become victims without realising as they wrongly believe that they are chatting to other children because they cannot see who they are chatting to in the online chat rooms that they use. The intentions of the person masquerading as a child may vary from downloading personal photos to as far as child trafficking but in any case they pose a great threat to children. Statistics also show that only five per cent of parents think their children have given out personal information on the Internet, showing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. We Must Make Virtual Child Pornography Illegal Essay The Supreme Court lifted a 1996 act banning virtual child pornography. The six to three ruling, led by Justice Anthony Kennedy, says the law violates First Amendment freedom of speech rights guaranteed to every citizen of the United States of America. Although many free speech advocates are shouting victory, many citizens across the country are lamenting over the loss in the fight against child pornography. Child pornography has been present in society for centuries, but has only recently become more accessible through the development of the printing press and subsequently, the technology of the Internet. Until the mid–1990s, "illegal child pornography [had only] involved depictions of actual children engaged in sexually explicit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quick to validate the new law, Congress proclaimed that "child pornography is often used as part of a method of seducing other children into sexual activity" (Slade). Congress further went on to say that with recent technology, having the ability to alter and enhance sexually exploitive images might "render enforcement against pornography using real children impossible" because determining real pictures from enhanced picture had the probability of being a very daunting and challenging task. This strengthened the government's argument that the law had a significant potential to protect many children from molestation and abuse. Child pornography laws instated during the 1970s were some of the first in the crusade to protect children from sexual predators. This was because most of national news magazines were printing detailed articles concerning child sexual abuse at the time. In just a few weeks, "a national campaign against the making and sale of child pornography exploded" (Finkelhor 1) and politicians took note. In 1977, the government enacted the Sexual Exploitation of Children Act which prohibited sexually explicit photography of minors, the use of minors in production of pornography, and any material promoting child pornography. Due to misunderstandings of what "minor" really meant, the Child Protection Act of 1984 was ratified. It was then concluded that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
