2. Planning Introduction
• Throughout the next two weeks, I will be gathering research into my planning which will
help me prepare for my production. It is very important to consider planning because it will
also help me contingency plan as well as work out my schedule further, figuring which
aspects of my project will need more time, therefore giving it longer in the plan. To ensure
this is completed and carried out successfully, I will be including a variety of developed
ideas.
• The research I will be gathering can be conducted both online as well as offline. An
example of this is that I can be creating my mood boards and style sheets offline as I will
be creating those on my tablet digitally whereas looking into things such as finance I will
need to be using the internet to gather that information.
3. Project Concept:
What am I planning to create?
It is very important to outline and plan out what I am going to create as it will help me
structure my schedule and time management.
• One thing I was always sure on when thinking about what I am going to create was that it
was going to be heavily print focused.
• When looking back at my previous work and projects, I have noticed that I am always
more passionate about the print pieces such as the fanzine and also work from my first
year which is also print focused.
• The concept behind my ideas is promoting a brand (fashion and style focused) and to
inspire people to step out of their shell in terms of what they were. In my project I will be
focusing on certain styles which have recently come into fashion however might not be
how people ‘typically’ dress. A lot of my previous projects have focused on being outside
the box and this is something I will be heavily including in my work from the clothes
themselves to the design of my work.
4. A rough outline of what I want to
create
‘Style edit’
• This includes a double page spread and front page. Very similar to a magazine,
fashion and style focused
• Focusing on how the style has evolved and become more ‘trendy’ refer to
millennials and generation z (also social media incorporation)
Social layouts/promotion + Website Design
• This includes platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and even TikTok.
• This portion of work will be one of the largest focuses as I am heavily focusing on
the marketing perspective of my work.
• Instagram: Reels, IG feed posts, IGTV
• TikTok: 15 second videos, showing off style
5. Existing Influences/Inspiration
• When looking at inspiration that can influence and impact my work,
• One inspiration I am drawing from is album cover art, specifically Tyler the Creator,
BROCKHAMPTON etc. The reason as to why their work is inspiring me is their bright
colours and how they use imagery and design to present the album.
• Another inspiration I have behind the work I am wanting to create is small businesses as
a whole, specifically ones who use graphic design in their work. An example is the brand
‘TheBradyScrunch’ which specialise in hair accessories however what drew me to this
brand was the way in which they designed their products, being created on procreate
which is also an app I am planning on using in my own.
• Another small business that has given me inspiration is ShopCherryJewels which mainly
focuses on selling jewellery such as necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings etc. These
pieces are handcrafted and the brand owner is only 17, who is now working on this
business full time.
6. How am I planning to create my product?
• Before I begin the digital design process, I need to develop my sketches
and layouts for what I am intending to create as this will give me a basic
idea of what my work will look like. When creating my planning sketches I
used a combination of procreate and photoshop as they both offer tools
which can be used to my advantage and gain.
• For the majority of the work I will be creating, I will mainly be using
photoshop in collaboration with procreate. For all the graphic design
aspects procreate will be my best option as with the kit and equipment I
have available, I feel this app will work the best.
• Throughout production, I will be continuously referring back to my concept
art to ensure I am keeping to my original ideas. My concept art and
sketches will also ensure the variation and creativity also stays intact.
7. Additional Production
• Once I have finished my main production pieces, I plan on using
my remaining time to construct additional parts to further
develop my work. As I will already have a lot of background
graphic work which I have created as backups, I can use these
to add to my project.
• Another possibility in which I could create to add to my work is
some form of merchandising. As the concept behind my project
and inspiration is small businesses, creating some form of
merchandise would add to the marketing position of the ‘brands
intention’
8. Reflection and Evaluation
• Throughout my project, I am planning to be keeping a reflective journal of
my progress through the different stages of my work. This will involve me
taking notes of the software I am using, recording my work, any struggles I
come across, techniques I use and so on along with other aspects of my
work.
• Additionally, I will also be reflecting back on past projects and be able to
compare that to how I am currently performing as well as showing how I
have developed over time.
• Another thing I will be including in my reflection and evaluation is my
weekly schedule which will be digitally on my calendar as well as keeping
a to-do list on goodnotes5. This will help me stay organised and making
sure I am completing my work for when I intend to.
9. Equipment What will I use it for
Laptop/Macbook Throughout my production, my laptop will be acting as the
hub for all my work. I also have access to the full Adobe
Creative Cloud suite so having constant access to it is vital.
iPad + Apple Pencil/Graphics Tablet My iPad and Graphics Tablet will be used to create all my
digital art allowing smoother line art.
Bluetooth Remote My Bluetooth remote will be used when I am taking my
photos, this can be paired with any of my devices and will
make taking photos of myself easier when needed.
iPhone/Camera (Canon 450D) I will be using my camera and phone to take all of my photos
used in my project.
Adobe PhotoShop I am going to be using Photoshop to create the majority of my
digital work and any effects also.
Procreate Procreate will be used to create digital art work such as the
layouts and designs.
10. Creating a schedule
One of the most important steps here is my schedule as this will
ensure my time management and organisation stays in order.
11. Week and date Brief explanation of what I am planning to do
Week 1 of production: 09/03/21 – 12/03/21
(in college)
• Graphics work
• Colour Palettes putting together (procreate + ps)
Week 2 of production: 16/03/21 – 19/03/21
(working from home)
• As this week I will be carrying out my work from
home, I will be focusing on gathering my images
mainly and any additional work

Week 7 of production: 04/05/21 – 07/04/21
(in college)
12. Locations
York College
• York college is roughly 15 minutes from my home location but that depends mostly on my mode of transport. To access this
location I can drive by car or as an alternative get the number 5 bus (first) from Huntington into the Town Centre and then the
number 3 bus (park and ride) which will drop me off outside the College. In terms of cost for the bus, a student ticket averages at
about £3 there and back as with me being a student I get a discounted ticket price which you can pay for each term or yearly
which works out more cost efficient.
• One of the spaces in York College I would plan on using is the studio space located on the second floor. There is artificial
lighting, sound proof and also a backdrop in which you can change. This would be an ideal space for me to use as it means I can
have a clear, solid background with access to additional equipment.
Malton Centre
• A reason as to why I am planning on using Malton as one of the areas in my production is because of the area itself. You are
surrounded by beautiful location spots ideal for taking outside backgrounds. As the area is also fairly quiet during the times I am
planning on going (Saturday and Sunday around lunch hours: 12-3). Looking at the weather and making predictions, it will be
ideal be going at those hours as based off forecasts from the past few weeks, the weather looks promising for shooting. In terms
of transport for getting to Malton, my best way would be by car with the journey taking roughly 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
13. Finances
• It is important for me to consider this factor in my planning as it will help me get a clear
understanding on how I need to plan out my expenses throughout my production. This will
help me ensure I have enough money put aside which is very important being that I am
on furlough so I am not able to put as much money dedicated to my FMP as I would have
liked.
• The aspects I will be covering throughout this planning will be equipment, clothing,
transport crew and facilities. These are the most relevant aspects of my work as well as
being the ones which could result as more expensive.
14. Finances – Clothing Pieces
One of the core aspects/main focus of my final project is the clothing and fashion elements. Even though the style approach I am
taking is more casual wear some of the key items that I will be featuring can be more on the expensive side and so I need to
consider how that will factor into my budget.
Coats: In terms of coats/jackets for my production this can ring up my expenses quickly. One staple piece of clothing I will be
including in my edit is my North Face coat which retails for £250 if I were to buy it now via their website. The iscoat which I will be
using is of the 1996 Retro Nuptse style which has become a trend in many different styles, a reason as to why I want to include it,
and is also sold out in every size meaning I wouldn’t be able to purchase it now and get it in time, but I am lucky enough that I
received mine earlier on in the year. If I wasn’t able to get this specific type of coat I would turn to a more cost effective and still
similar puffer styled coat at no more than £30.
Shoes: When considering what shoes I want to feature in my work, I knew that Jordan's mid 1’s and Nike’s would be a great option
as they are relative to the style I am wanting to showcase but are also another piece of clothing I have in my wardrobe. In terms of
pricing for these type of shoes, it varies based on the exact shoe ranging from £150 to £550 depending on the buyer you purchase
from, the size (women or men’s).
15. Finances – Clothing Pieces
Jeans: This aspect of clothing is where I can easily eat into my money budget if I don’t already own jeans I can utilise. However I
will not be needing a large variety of jeans as a lot of the shots will be predominantly upper body, therefore focusing more on the
tops/jackets. But when I am shooting the shoes and other shots, the jeans will be in the frame. The specific type of jeans I will be
using are referred to as flare bottoms, the reason as to why I have chosen this type specifically is because they can be co-ordinated
with many clothes and will work for time efficiency in comparison to denim jeans. However I am still wanting to incorporate denim
into this style edit with mom and straight leg jeans. Unlike flares, these types of jeans will allow the shoes to be more on show,
making them the main focus and as I am wanting to incorporate Jordan's into my work, these jeans are key. Looking at the prices of
the different types of bottoms, I could be looking at spending £40 maximum on a single pair of good quality jeans.
Where to buy: I am also wanting to try and stick to sustainable brands rather than fast fashion so that will also naturally increase
the price of certain items of clothing. In terms of getting clothing on time I will most likely be buying the majority of my items off
ASOS as they have several brands which I am planning to use and they also offer a next day delivery if you have bought into their
yearly subscription which retails for £9.99 (which I have already purchased as of Nov 2020) so the delivery will be essentially free
and in time for production. The latest I want to be buying clothes from this specific app is 6th March so that it will arrive before my
first in person college day on the 9th March. Another place I will be buying clothes from for this project will be Urban Outfitters. In
terms of their shipping times, their standard delivery is 3-5 working days which is for free, if needs be I can get next day delivery but
that can cost £5.95 per order which can easily eat into my budget so therefore I want to be trying to maintain free shipping so I have
more of my budget to spend elsewhere.
16. Finances - Technology
My iPad is one of the most expensive pieces of
equipment but is also one of the key aspects which I will
be using throughout production to create my graphics.
Through a trusted site in which you will get tracked
delivery and also a 2 year warranty and guarantee which
covers the product it will cost from £540 to £900
depending on the storage option.
When creating my digital art and graphics it
will be very hard to create ‘precise’ art without
the apple pencil or alternatively a stylus. In
order for it to pair with the iPad I am currently
using I would need to get the most recent
version of the pencil: Apple Pencil 2nd
Generation which retails for £119. I would be
purchasing this from John Lewis so that I
would get the 2 year warranty meaning if
there if any faults, I can contact them for help
without having to pay any extra fees.
18. Time & Availability
The next stage of my planning that I need to consider throughout my production is my time
management. This is very important to consider as if I don’t finish my work by the given
deadlines, I could face myself receiving a lower grade that I don’t believe reflects my work
or vice versa if I don’t have any clear deadlines, I could end up completing multiple pieces
of work when I should be focusing on one instead.
20. Colour Schemes
• When thinking of what colours to include in my work I want to keep the running theme of
bright colours throughout my project.
21. Font Styles
• Unlike my previous projects, I want to incorporate both serif and
sans-serif fonts into my work. The reason as to why I want to do
this is
23. style inspiration
Here is one of my first
mood boards which
covers style
inspiration. This mood
board gives me an
idea of the general
style I am wanting to
incorporate into my
work and idea of any
clothes that I may
need to purchase prior
to production
24.
25. Here are some outfit sketches which can show me
also some angles to use when shooting. In the first
example we can see a full outfit with a frontal shot
and the second is focusing more on the bottom
half at a different angle. Even though I haven’t
coloured in any of these sketches it still gives me a
rough idea of what angles I can be using not only
in my photography portions but also the graphic
art work which is a key part of my production work.
26. Here are some simple graphics work which I have drawn in
procreate for inspiration on what I am going to use in my project.
Specifically in these drawings I am pulling inspiration from
current trends, mainly coming from tiktok
27.
28. Here is an example of
one of the layout
sketches I created for
the double page
spread. It is important
for me to plan out
where everything is
going as this will give
me an idea of what
content I need to be
shooting, with the vision
of where it is going to
be.
Even though this
example is very brief,
it shows the key
points of what I am
wanting to include
