and misled perception that understanding them was to

Scholars in various filedsSpl have now deemed it essential,
2. crucial and necessary to consider gender as a factor of analysis.
Modermtypo women movements have also raised issues that
have greatly changed public disourse. Primarily, the purpose
and intention of women studies is to portray and treat women as
subjectives and not objectives3,run on this is to help an
individual to look at the world through a woman’s eye. The very
basis of knowledge in our universaties has been affected due to
rethinking the world through a woman’s eye.
This brief essay4 gains insight on the issue of women
studies, though from a rather narrowed and summarized view. It
looks into an article written on the topic at hand and further
elaborations into it. The first aspect to be evaluated in the
article is the event being analzed. This is to form a basis of
what the entire paper is to entail. The sides taken by he debate
will then be clarified and the reader given a chance to know
what opposing points wil be discussed. The ideas about women
being highlighted will then be the proceeding point of focus
before finalizing the essay with an insight on attitude of the
article’s author. This determines whether the light shade on the
discussed are portrayed negatively or positively.
The author’s article deals in women studies as a whole.
The question she poses to the readeris; what is women’s
studies? This is broad and diverse topic that entails almost
everyhthingtypo would wish to know about women studies. At
the very same time, it is a topic that may restrict one to the
simple pros and cons of involved in women studies; the topic’s
unique juxtaposition generally makes it a tricky and rather
slippery topic. As explained by the author, women studies is not
the simple study of women, but rather, the study of women that
puts power at the center of the process. This is because it
entails the examination of the entire world as it is, together with
the humans in it, through question, analyses and theories that
have been built directly on women’s experiences. according to
the author, women’s studies is about difference in various
aspects of life just as the lived experiences of women are not
the same. This difference is what the study uses to look into
3. life’s facets such a race, culture, sexuality, politics, religion and
class to name but a few studies (Carolynn, Dorothy, Florence,
Shirley, Susan, sarah, Ulku& Virginia 2005) .
The author’d discussion or rather debate is of an
interesting nature. This is because she sets the grounds of the
debate, where she dicsusses how important and essential the
studies are, as well as why the studies have been undermined by
many and the subsatnatial reasons given for that. In support of
the studies, she poses another question which acts as her
foundation for supporting the studies; why women studies?
Through this, she analyzes the maint purposes and intentions of
pursueing women studies. The opposition side of the debate
where the author tries to denounce the need and essence f
women studies is built through analysis of the study’s historical
background. She stike’s hard at the practices, customs, beliefs
and acts prior to the initiation of the studies, approximately 40
years ago. Being a well eduacated and established woman
herself, the former side of the debate comes out stronger of
much more convincing.
In her article, much of the ideas that are highlighted about
women cut across most of the issues that we all relate to daily.
Though briefly elaborated on, whereas some ideas are only
merely mentioned, there is sufficient insight to give the reader
an understanding of the author’s topic. Among the ideas
mentioned in the author’sarticle are; definition of a woman,
theories about women, women personalities, diversity mong
women and women in the society. These mentioned areas are
subject for further studies into the field of women studies.
They act as crucial building blocks of the larger picture which
the author barely scratches the surface of. The author goes
ahead to further elaborate on the ideas she perceives to be
instrumental in making the reader understand the essence of the
women studies. However,it should not be mistaken that some of
the highlted areas in the article are on lesser value; as a matter
of fact, the author clearly notes that each constituent idea is of
equal importnance when it comes to the bigger picture of
4. understanding women’s studies (Carolynn, Dorothy, Florence,
Shirley, Susan, sarah, Ulku & Virginia 2005) .
Generally, the article is positive regarding women. This is
not because the author happens to be female but because of her
objectivity in analyzing the topic at hand. She gains insight on
both sides of the issue and tries to give as many points as
possible. However, much positive light is shade on the women
as per the author’s work and substantial supportive arguments
are given respectively.

Alexander, you need to find an article in the news, such as the
new york times, Washington post, or even CNN etc and tell
how the issues it announces relates to our class. for example, if
there is an article talking about an act of violence against
women, or some news on abortion, or a woman politician who
has doen something important...if you want, you could even use
a news article from the country where you are from, and give a
perspective on that.
You cannot review the material in our textbook! Find an article
5. in the news that you think is important, and then let me take
another look at your draft. I am not too picky about due dates,
but rather that you complete the assignment well. If you are
having trouble choosing, then give me a couple of choices and I
will help.
I will be away from the computer on Sunday, so we can start on
monday morning. is that OK?
1. check this
2. you need to tell the title and author of the article you are
reviewing in the first paragraph.
3. subjects and not objects
4. there is no need to do this...just use a thesis statement in the
intro paragraph, and then go right into the discussion. That
means cutting this whole paragraph.
Example of thesis: In the article "XYZ" by Jane Smith, we can
see that.....

Title: Speciation
Instructions: You will need to write a 1-page lab report using
the scientific method to answer the following question:
· What would happen if a species within a population were
suddenly split into 2 groups by an earthquake that creates a
physical barrier like a canyon?
When your lab report is complete, post it in Submitted
Assignment files.
Part I: Use the animated time progression of speciation to help
you write up your lab report.
Part II: Write a 1-page lab report using the following scientific
method sections:
· Purpose
· State the purpose of the lab.
· Introduction
· This is an investigation of what is currently known about the
question being asked. Use background information from
credible references to write a short summary about concepts in
the lab. List and cite references in APA style.
· Hypothesis/Predicted Outcome
· A hypothesis is an educated guess. Based on what you have
learned and written about in the Introduction, state what you
expect to be the results of the lab procedures.
· Methods
· Summarize the procedures that you used in the lab. The
Methods section should also state clearly how data (numbers)
were collected during the lab; this will be reported in the
Results/Outcome section.
· Results/Outcome
· Provide here any results or data that were generated while
doing the lab procedure.
· Discussion/Analysis
8. · In this section, state clearly whether you obtained the expected
results, and if the outcome was as expected.
· Note: You can use the lab data to help you discuss the results
and what you learned.
Provide references in APA format. This includes a reference list
and in-text citations for references used in the Introduction
section.
Give your paper a title and number, and identify each section as
specified above. Although the hypothesis will be a 1-sentence
answer, the other sections will need to be paragraphs to
adequately explain your experiment.
When your lab report is complete, post it in Submitted
Assignment files.
