Lesson 9: Linking Verbs
A linking verb LINKS the subject to a noun or adjective. Linking verbs do not
show action.
• The noun that follows a linking verb renames or identifies the subject.
Mrs. Osorio is our teacher.
• The adjective that follows a linking verb describes the subject .
The choir seems large.
• A linking verb can also help to state a condition, such as the condition of
where or when.
Choir rehearsal is tonight.
