As a terrorist Miro's main job is to focus on killing Kate, the bus driver. As the hijacking goes along

The inner Delta accidentally shot Antibbe when a light flashed on.They said the sniper was too well
trained and reacted. Artkin chooses a child off of the bus in return to kill because of what they have
done.He is cruel by killing Raymond which is another innocent. However, Artkin did not want to
do it but he said it had to be done or they would think they could pick them off one by one and play
with them. "Artkin picked up the boy to help him down the steps of the bus outside(p.184).""Later,
they heard a shot."
The General, which is in charge of the Inner Delta, makes a terrible mistake with his son. In
response of the Inner Delta capturing the leader of the terrorists,Artkin asked for a rock that was in
the place he stayed. It was from their homeland and also needed a nonprofessional to deliver it to
them. The General sent his son with knowing it was a bad situation. After they took Ben when he

After The First Death Character Analysis
The characters in after the first death act cruelly towards each other in many situations.
Characters Miro and Artkin who are the terrorist that hijacked a bus of children, commit cruel
acts towards other throughout the whole book. Kate and the general also act cruelly toward
other characters in the book. All of these characters act cruelly in the book for different reasons.
Miro is a major character in "After the first death", he was raised in a terrorist camp and believes
that his cause is the most important thing without fully understanding what his cause is. He
commits all of his cruel acts using his cause as an excuse to act cruelly. Miro first cruel act is
drugging the children, which cause Kevin Mcmain to die of what we are to assume a allergic
reaction. His next cruel act is when he kills Kate. He kills her because he believes that she is
playing him again. On page 221 the novel says "He squeezed the trigger the bullet smashed her
heart and she was dead in seconds. His last cruel act happens at the closing of the book when he
kills a man so he can steal his car. These are all the inhuman acts Miro commits....show more

First Death Ending
In the novel "After The First Death" the ending is tragic and unfair. There are three things i would
change about the ending.Artkin could have stayed alive and kate could have died. Inner delta
catches artkin and miro and tortures them both till they give information about their terrorist
group.inner delta invades the camp where they grew up.The book says that kate doesn't die until
miro kills her and that is his first kill i would make it so miro does not get the chance to kill anyone.
The ending of the novel is tragic and unfair one reason for this is the only terrorist inner delta does
not know anything about is the one who got away. Miro is on the loose and now he has had his
first kill. Miro has killed three people and he thinks he has

Is There Life After Death? Essay
Is there life after death?
There are many different religions in the world and every religion has a specific set of beliefs
surrounding life questions. One of the most commonly asked questions is 'is there life after death'.
Almost all religions would have the same answer which is yes, but each religion has a different
answer to what actually happens after death. In this essay I will compare the beliefs between
Catholicism and judaism surrounding their beliefs on the topic of life after death, I will also look
into the similarities between both religions beliefs of what happens after death.
Catholic's believe that at the moment of death the soul is separated from man's body, the body is
then left to decompose. Another belief is that the soul is immortal and will always exist after being
created. The main belief that Catholics have, surrounding life after death is that the soul continues
on after death and the soul may either go to heaven, hell or purgatory; the soul goes to either place
depending on how the person lived their life on earth and whether it was full of sin or not. "Romans
2:6–8: He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well–doing
seek for glory and honour and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are
self–seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury."
Catholics believe that once they make it to heaven, they will then meet God and live in his presence.

The Characters Of After The First Death
After The First Death Many of the characters from After the First Death have been stripped of
their innocence. Raymond, a little kid that was on the bus that was hijacked was forced to eat
candy which made him think he was a bad kid since he was a "late baby." Kate had to lie through
the story and talk to the terrorist because she knew if she didn't he would kill her right away. Ben's
father sent him to deliver a message to the terrorist and they thought he was lying so they held him
captive and torched him till he told them truth and he felt like a coward for it. Characters Raymond,
Kate, and Ben, all victims, had their innocence taken away from them as the hijacking went on.
Miro, a terrorist was handing out the drugged candy and Raymond wouldn't take it because he
didn't want to be a bad kid. From the book After the First Death page 107 states, "he did not eat the
candy except at special times." Raymond tried to be as good as a kid he could because he knew
he was a late baby and thought it meant something bad. He would always hear his father telling
his mother that they couldn't be late and he felt bad because he was a late baby. Miro eventually
made him eat the candy which he didn't want to do because it made him think he was a bad kid if
he did. Eventually a sniper killed one of the terrorists so out of retaliation they killed Raymond.
Raymond's innocence was taken when they made him eat the drugged candy and then killed him.

After The First Death: Cruelty
After the First Death
"After the First Death" is a thriller with a theme revolving around cruelty. Miro and Artkin, the
terrorists, have physically killed people. The General has psychologically hurt his son by telling
him of "The Plan". Kate lied and used her body to get what she wanted out of Miro. "After the First
Death" shows that cruelty comes in different ways as physical and psychological.
Artkin and Miro are responsible for out right killing.Artkin has killed an innocent boy.Raymond's
death was confirmed on page 184 when the book says, "Kate could not believe that it was the
sound of a gun firing. Because that would mean that Raymond was dead". Miro kills Kate, a woman
just trying to survive the ordeal. Kate's death was confirmed on...show more content...
Ben commits suicide off Brimmer's bridge. On page 226 we are introduced to the general's cruelty.
When his father admitted to planning his son to fail, his son fell into depression. The general had
stated, "It had been planned that way. You were selected for that purpose". Ben's father should've
kept quiet or lied of the situation to make his son feel better but did not leading to his death.
Kates cruelty was psychological. Kate, while on the brink of death would lie and use her body to
manipulate to try and get what she wanted. On page 170 Kate decides her only way to live is to
make Miro love her. On the bottom paragraph she says, "...but to have him regard her as a human
being again, someone whose life was precious...so that he might just hesitate." She liese to him about
being interested in him. Kate is just like Artkin in that she tries to manipulate to get what she wants.
"After the first death" talks about cruelty as physical and psychological. Miro and Artkin physically
kill kate and Raymond. The general after using his son tells him so at a time he needed help,
sending him to depression and then suicide. Kate is purposely lying to Miro to get her way. People
are cruel to other people some time in their life, its human

In Robert Cormier's novel After the First Death, the author introduces and brings to life many
characters in the novel. One main character is Kate Forrester. Throughout the novel, Kate is up
for debate as being a hero. Kate Forrester is a hero because she is deceiving, brave, and faces fear
head on. Kate Forrester's heroism is shown through her deceiving characteristic. She first starts by
winning over the terrorist named Miro. Kate achieves this by Miro having to keeping an eye on her.
Miro introduces himself: "We are going to be together for a while on this bus. You should call me
Miro and I should call you Kate" (Cormier 44). Miro has never introduced himself to one of his
victims, but through Kate's "American girl" charm, she gets him to do so. Miro thinks he has
Kate where he wants her, but it is the total opposite. Kate's next act of deceiving starts with aiding
the kids. She follows Miro and Arkin's wishes which are, "To help us with the children. Take care
of them. See their needs. This will convince you that we mean no harm to them" (42). Kate does
everything in her power to help keep the kids safe, but she mostly does this for her own safety.
Kate knows that the terrorists will kill her if the children are uncontrollable. Kate's final act of
deceiving ends with her staying alive longer than she should. She stays alive longer due to Miro and
Arkin needing help with the children. Miro states, "She troubles me because she still lives. She was

Life Or Death Essay
We are all aware of death, and we know it will come to us all. To many of us death brings a chill
down our spine ridden with fear, but to others it is ridden with strength and satisfaction of
accomplishment. Fortunately or unfortunately we are all condemned to death. However no one
knows when exactly the inevitable will approach, but we all know it is inescapable. But what
makes death seem more realistic to us and those in denial of it is the lucid pictures of people
suffering, in pain and those on their death bed before many of us can be rationale and accept the
truth. Someone once said, “Life is about 50–70 years of pain. One is born through the

This increase of love allows our mind to feel some sort of satisfaction that good can come out of
praying and if one was to die, our faith would tell us that we did our best. In other words, our love
towards our faith tends to be one of the strongest lifelines we can posses to reduce the guilt and pain
of those around us who are suffering.
For many of us who are in a relationship either by marriage or simply as mates can relate to the
feelings they are exhibited within and around one when they are with or simply thinking about
our mates. This feeling of security and belonging tends to increase our love towards each other,
especially during times of pain and death. We begin to see the world of insecurity and being
alone, a world of being abandoned and feeling useless. There are those who don’t
posses a “soul mate';, and nonetheless they too feel an increase of love; the love of
having a mate of being wanted and loved, and the feeling of not being alone.
As parents or parents to be, whether within months or years, we all as humans strive for one goal
at the end; to raise our children the best we can and the best they can be. If and when the time

Life After Death
All of the major religions believe in life after death. However the ideas from religion to religion
can vary greatly. I am going to look at Hinduism and Christianity, two religions that I have been
surrounded by all my life, and the different perceptions they have of life after death, and then I will
give my own view.
"For certain is death for the born and certain is birth for the dead; therefore, over the inevitable thou
shouldst not grieve." This quote from the Bhagwat Gita (Hindu holy book) sums up the Hindu
perspective on life after death. Hindus believe that the time they will spend on earth is decided from
the moment they are born, and that how long they will live,...show more content...
It also meant than human beings would not be immortal and would eventually die. There was no
suggestion that they would go to heaven. Christianity developed from Judaism. This religion
believed originally that when people died they went to a dark place under the earth called Sheol.
Later, Jews began to believe that they might share some sort of eternal life with God after death.
When Jesus died on the cross he was giving up his life for other people's sins and demonstrating
the love of God. When Jesus rose again he proved that it was possible to overcome death and live
with God for all eternity. Christians were freed from the burden of original sin if they followed
Jesus' teaching and example and believed in him as the Son of God. Jesus said, 'I am the
resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies' – John 11:25–26.
Many Christians believe that one day Jesus will return to earth. This second coming of Jesus is
called the Parousia. At the Parousia God will judge everyone and decide whether they will be given
eternal life with God or whether they are to be punished in hell.
Many Christians have different ideas about heaven and hell. Some follow a very traditional belief
that heaven is a wonderful garden paradise where they will live for ever with God and Jesus. These
people often believe that hell is a real place where people will suffer eternal

In the novel After the First Death by Robert Cormier, a group of terrorist hijack a bus full of kids to
make a political statement. Their homeland isn't safe and want the American people to realize things
aren't the same. They want three things in return of the children; Ten million dollars, release political
prisoners, and dismantle inner delta. Cormier uses foreshadowing, narration, and theme throughout
the novel to explain the situation. First, Cormier uses foreshadowing throughout the novel. The
major thing that he foreshadows is that Ben is dead in the middle of the novel, but at the end of the
novel he is alive until he gets shot by Artkin, who is the leader of the group. Ben's dad volunteered

Ben did the ultimate sacrifice of his country and got his life taken because he wanted to save the
children and stop the terrorist from getting Inner Delta. Miro and Artkin present sacrifice and
patriotism because they are sacrificing everything they have to get their homeland free. Yes, their
point of view is bizarre, but you have to see what they are seeing. They are doing anything and
everything they can. They took children because people will do a lot of things to get children
back, and they won't stop until they got what they want or they are dead. Miro wasn't afraid of
death and was relentless to get what he wanted, same with Artkin. Last, Kate present sacrifice
when she took matters into her own hands and tried to drive the bus away. She was very brave,
but was unsuccessful. She risked her life.Lastly, Cormier's narration style is what keeps the story
on a hook. He gives different perspectives from different characters every other chapter. At the
beginning of the novel, Cormier has Ben telling his story. It stops when it gets to the next chapter
and switches gears to the hijacking of the bus and perspective of Kate, the bus driver. Each chapter
goes back and forth from characters which is an interesting narrative style that keeps

In the novel "After the First Death" Miro, The General, and Ben had things happen to them that

Many of the characters in the book "After the First Death," their innocence stolen from them.
They all had to do something they have never done. Also they were all put in unfamiliar
situations. Therefore Raymond, Kate, and Ben had to make choices in their life that take their
innocents. Raymond is a very sheltered little boy. He is different and intelligent and the worst
thing to happen to him is being called a "late baby." He is very blessed with both his parents and
has a good life. When the bus he was on gets hijacked, it's a completely different world. He has
never seen men like the terrorist or never been forced to use the bathroom in a pail. When he
doesn't take the drugged candy he is aware of what is going on and knows the men are bad. After
this Raymond isn't just a innocent boy because he's even deceiving Miro into thinking he's asleep.

Do You Believe? Life After Death?
Do you believe in life after death? It's a pretty controversial topic. Although it has not been proven
that the afterlife is 100% legitimate, many people still believe in it. Some may consider that it is
real due to religious teachings. Others have an inclination that paranormal activity and ghosts seem
to be a palpable source of evidence that the soul continues to live even after the body has died.
However, these views have not been proven. Although the idea of an afterlife seems far–fetched to
the practical minded, it can be justified due to a variety of authentic arguments. Supported by the
Christian belief in heaven and scientific research, there is life after death.
There are many different types of Christian denominations; however,...show more content...
However, there is one inspiring story of an actual encounter with heaven and Jesus himself; this story
is called Heaven is for Real.
Todd Burpo's inspiring story of his son's experience with heaven exemplifies the religious faith
playing a role in real life and death. Colton Burpo, three–year–old preacher's son, had a close call
with death due to a burst appendix (Newton). During his emergency surgery, he recalls visiting
heaven where he talked to Jesus, encountered angels, and even met his sister who had been
miscarried by his mother before he was born. Some may be skeptical of Colton's story, dismissing
it as an imaginative dream, but his father, Todd, thinks that it is much more. During Colton's
procedure, Todd sulked in a small room and had a meltdown with God. No one knew he was
there; yet, Colton was able to recall seeing his dad in that room. According to neuroscientist Kevin
Nelson, children tend to let their imagination go awry, whereas adults tend to look over their life in
near death experiences since they are more sagacious. The things that Colton recalled are far beyond
something that his developing brain would have absorbed from his father's church services. Thus,
Colton's recollection appears to be far more than a fantasy. Some may say that science does not
support the theory of an afterlife; nonetheless, there are studies being revealed that support this idea
after all.

Cruel things happen everywhere around the world today; there are things that make us question the
world that we live in. In the novel "After the First Death" written by Robert Cormier a terrorist
hijacking of a school bus filled with little kids is a cruel thing. In the book there are characters who
are innocent and then the characters who are not so innocent. Raymond, Kate , and Ben were
innocent but, this innocence was taken away from them by the end of this novel.
Raymond was one of the many little kids on the bus during the hijacking, when Raymond was first
introduced he was known as the chunkier kid. When the terrorists first hijacked the bus they gave
all the kids drugged candy to sedate them. On page 107 it stated " To make up for being late. He kept
his room neat. He washed up good before eating. He did not fidget. He did not eat candy except at
special times" (107). Raymond did not eat the candy that Artkin gave to him because he wasnt
allowed to. He was an innocent little boy who did as he was told but it was changed when the
terrorists found out he did not eat the candy. A second example from the text is "Raymond's chin
began to tremble. Whats your name boy? Raymond. He said the name a whisper. His eyes were
agonized as he confronted Artkin" (150). This is towards the end of the book and the two terrorists
Arkin and Miro have realized that Raymond must have not eaten the candy because he is awake and

The Belief Of Life After Death Essay
Many different religions around the world see the importance in life after death but these beliefs
do vary a lot and each religion will believe completely different things. Two core religions in this
essay that will be looked into are Islamic and Catholic. What do they believe will happen when
someone dies? Is there another life after they die? Heaven? Hell? Or Paradise? Through this you will
the importance in the belief of life after death, and the practices, rituals, and prayers that provide
evidence and physical proof of how they show this belief. Then to go onto to discuss the wider
implications holding onto these beliefs can have.
Catholics believe that the resurrection and death of Jesus have changed the meaning and the effect of
human death. Death is no longer the end of an individual's human identity, because the soul
continues on after death. The Catholic Church teaches that a soul may go to heaven, purgatory or
hell, depending on the quality of a person's life on earth. "That the body dies, death is a normal
natural process" (Ecclesiasticus 3:1–2) Based upon the sacred scripture and teachings of the Church,
we know what Catholic believes after death and what follows it. When someone dies, their soul is
separated from their body and no longer sustains any order within the natural body. As a result of
this, the human body begins to corrupt and is left to decompose on its own. The soul however is
completely different as it is immortal and will never cease to exist

What will happen after we dead ?
Death is a fact of life that everyone have to go through. There are around 150,000 people die each

Evidence For Life After Death
Synoptic pt. b – Evaluate the idea that there is no compelling evidence for life after death. (30)
Life after death is a concept that humanity has been trying to understand for millennia. It is an area
where science, religion, and philosophy intersect, with conflicting yet powerful views and evidence
that has formed and changed views in different sections of society. For religious believers, the
evidence is based upon God(s) and their solid faith in holy texts yet, all people, including religious
believers are influenced by the views put forward by science, experience, philosophy and
individual upbringings. 49 per cent of 9000 surveyed in 2012 by the University of London believe

The General, who is the leader of the Inner Delta, is in charge of the negotiation As a result Miro, Artkin, and the General do what they think is right for their country even though it might not go well. As a terrorist Miro's main job is to focus on killing Kate, the bus driver. "Artkin picked up the boy to help him down the steps of the bus outside(p.184).""Later, they heard a shot." The General, which is in charge of the Inner Delta, makes a terrible mistake with his son. In response of the Inner Delta capturing the leader of the terrorists,Artkin asked for a rock that was in the place he stayed. It was from their homeland and also needed a nonprofessional to deliver it to them. The General sent his son with knowing it was a bad situation. Characters Miro and Artkin who are the terrorist that hijacked a bus of children, commit cruel acts towards other throughout the whole book. Kate and the general also act cruelly toward other characters in the book. All of these characters act cruelly in the book for different reasons. Miro is a major character in "After the first death", he was raised in a terrorist camp and believes that his cause is the most important thing without fully understanding what his cause is. He commits all of his cruel acts using his cause as an excuse to act cruelly. Miro first cruel act is drugging the children, which cause Kevin Mcmain to die of what we are to assume a allergic reaction. His next cruel act is when he kills Kate. He kills her because he believes that she is playing him again. On page 221 the novel says "He squeezed the trigger the bullet smashed her heart and she was dead in seconds. First Death Ending In the novel "After The First Death" the ending is tragic and unfair. There are three things i would change about the ending.Artkin could have stayed alive and kate could have died. Inner delta catches artkin and miro and tortures them both till they give information about their terrorist group.inner delta invades the camp where they grew up.The book says that kate doesn't die until miro kills her and that is his first kill i would make it so miro does not get the chance to kill anyone. The ending of the novel is tragic and unfair one reason for this is the only terrorist inner delta does not know anything about is the one who got away. • 4. Is There Life After Death? Essay Is there life after death? There are many different religions in the world and every religion has a specific set of beliefs surrounding life questions. One of the most commonly asked questions is 'is there life after death'. Almost all religions would have the same answer which is yes, but each religion has a different answer to what actually happens after death. In this essay I will compare the beliefs between Catholicism and judaism surrounding their beliefs on the topic of life after death, I will also look into the similarities between both religions beliefs of what happens after death. Catholic's believe that at the moment of death the soul is separated from man's body, the body is then left to decompose. Another belief is that the soul is immortal and will always exist after being created. The main belief that Catholics have, surrounding life after death is that the soul continues on after death and the soul may either go to heaven, hell or purgatory; the soul goes to either place depending on how the person lived their life on earth and whether it was full of sin or not. "Romans 2:6–8: He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well–doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self–seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury." Catholics believe that once they make it to heaven, they will then meet God and live in his presence. In Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Characters Of After The First Death After The First Death Many of the characters from After the First Death have been stripped of their innocence. Raymond, a little kid that was on the bus that was hijacked was forced to eat candy which made him think he was a bad kid since he was a "late baby." Kate had to lie through the story and talk to the terrorist because she knew if she didn't he would kill her right away. Ben's father sent him to deliver a message to the terrorist and they thought he was lying so they held him captive and torched him till he told them truth and he felt like a coward for it. Characters Raymond, Kate, and Ben, all victims, had their innocence taken away from them as the hijacking went on. Miro, a terrorist was handing out the drugged candy and Raymond wouldn't take it because he didn't want to be a bad kid. From the book After the First Death page 107 states, "he did not eat the candy except at special times." Raymond tried to be as good as a kid he could because he knew he was a late baby and thought it meant something bad. He would always hear his father telling his mother that they couldn't be late and he felt bad because he was a late baby. Miro eventually made him eat the candy which he didn't want to do because it made him think he was a bad kid if he did. Eventually a sniper killed one of the terrorists so out of retaliation they killed Raymond. Raymond's innocence was taken when they made him eat the drugged candy and then killed him. • 6. After The First Death: Cruelty After the First Death "After the First Death" is a thriller with a theme revolving around cruelty. Miro and Artkin, the terrorists, have physically killed people. The General has psychologically hurt his son by telling him of "The Plan". Kate lied and used her body to get what she wanted out of Miro. "After the First Death" shows that cruelty comes in different ways as physical and psychological. Artkin and Miro are responsible for out right killing.Artkin has killed an innocent boy.Raymond's death was confirmed on page 184 when the book says, "Kate could not believe that it was the sound of a gun firing. Because that would mean that Raymond was dead". Miro kills Kate, a woman just trying to survive the ordeal. Kate's death was confirmed on...show more content... Ben commits suicide off Brimmer's bridge. On page 226 we are introduced to the general's cruelty. When his father admitted to planning his son to fail, his son fell into depression. The general had stated, "It had been planned that way. You were selected for that purpose". Ben's father should've kept quiet or lied of the situation to make his son feel better but did not leading to his death. Kates cruelty was psychological. Kate, while on the brink of death would lie and use her body to manipulate to try and get what she wanted. On page 170 Kate decides her only way to live is to make Miro love her. On the bottom paragraph she says, "...but to have him regard her as a human being again, someone whose life was precious...so that he might just hesitate." She liese to him about being interested in him. Kate is just like Artkin in that she tries to manipulate to get what she wants. "After the first death" talks about cruelty as physical and psychological. Miro and Artkin physically kill kate and Raymond. The general after using his son tells him so at a time he needed help, sending him to depression and then suicide. Kate is purposely lying to Miro to get her way. • 7. In Robert Cormier's novel After the First Death, the author introduces and brings to life many characters in the novel. One main character is Kate Forrester. Throughout the novel, Kate is up for debate as being a hero. Kate Forrester is a hero because she is deceiving, brave, and faces fear head on. Kate Forrester's heroism is shown through her deceiving characteristic. She first starts by winning over the terrorist named Miro. Kate achieves this by Miro having to keeping an eye on her. Miro introduces himself: "We are going to be together for a while on this bus. You should call me Miro and I should call you Kate" (Cormier 44). Miro has never introduced himself to one of his victims, but through Kate's "American girl" charm, she gets him to do so. Miro thinks he has Kate where he wants her, but it is the total opposite. Kate's next act of deceiving starts with aiding the kids. She follows Miro and Arkin's wishes which are, "To help us with the children. Take care of them. See their needs. This will convince you that we mean no harm to them" (42). Kate does everything in her power to help keep the kids safe, but she mostly does this for her own safety. Kate knows that the terrorists will kill her if the children are uncontrollable. Kate's final act of deceiving ends with her staying alive longer than she should. She stays alive longer due to Miro and Arkin needing help with the children. Miro states, "She troubles me because she still lives. She was my initiation and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Life Or Death Essay We are all aware of death, and we know it will come to us all. To many of us death brings a chill down our spine ridden with fear, but to others it is ridden with strength and satisfaction of accomplishment. Fortunately or unfortunately we are all condemned to death. However no one knows when exactly the inevitable will approach, but we all know it is inescapable. But what makes death seem more realistic to us and those in denial of it is the lucid pictures of people suffering, in pain and those on their death bed before many of us can be rationale and accept the truth. Someone once said, “Life is about 50–70 years of pain. One is born through the mother’s pain and die leaving others in pain.'; How do we accept and...show more content... This increase of love allows our mind to feel some sort of satisfaction that good can come out of praying and if one was to die, our faith would tell us that we did our best. In other words, our love towards our faith tends to be one of the strongest lifelines we can posses to reduce the guilt and pain of those around us who are suffering. For many of us who are in a relationship either by marriage or simply as mates can relate to the feelings they are exhibited within and around one when they are with or simply thinking about our mates. This feeling of security and belonging tends to increase our love towards each other, especially during times of pain and death. We begin to see the world of insecurity and being alone, a world of being abandoned and feeling useless. There are those who don’t posses a “soul mate';, and nonetheless they too feel an increase of love; the love of having a mate of being wanted and loved, and the feeling of not being alone. As parents or parents to be, whether within months or years, we all as humans strive for one goal at the end; to raise our children the best we can and the best they can be. If and when the time comes for us as parents and humans to pass on, and if we leave our children here, without a sense of accomplishment and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Life After Death Essay Life After Death All of the major religions believe in life after death. However the ideas from religion to religion can vary greatly. I am going to look at Hinduism and Christianity, two religions that I have been surrounded by all my life, and the different perceptions they have of life after death, and then I will give my own view. "For certain is death for the born and certain is birth for the dead; therefore, over the inevitable thou shouldst not grieve." This quote from the Bhagwat Gita (Hindu holy book) sums up the Hindu perspective on life after death. Hindus believe that the time they will spend on earth is decided from the moment they are born, and that how long they will live,...show more content... It also meant than human beings would not be immortal and would eventually die. There was no suggestion that they would go to heaven. Christianity developed from Judaism. This religion believed originally that when people died they went to a dark place under the earth called Sheol. Later, Jews began to believe that they might share some sort of eternal life with God after death. When Jesus died on the cross he was giving up his life for other people's sins and demonstrating the love of God. When Jesus rose again he proved that it was possible to overcome death and live with God for all eternity. Christians were freed from the burden of original sin if they followed Jesus' teaching and example and believed in him as the Son of God. Jesus said, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies' – John 11:25–26. Many Christians believe that one day Jesus will return to earth. This second coming of Jesus is called the Parousia. At the Parousia God will judge everyone and decide whether they will be given eternal life with God or whether they are to be punished in hell. Many Christians have different ideas about heaven and hell. Some follow a very traditional belief that heaven is a wonderful garden paradise where they will live for ever with God and Jesus. These people often believe that hell is a real place where people will suffer eternal Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. In the novel After the First Death by Robert Cormier, a group of terrorist hijack a bus full of kids to make a political statement. Their homeland isn't safe and want the American people to realize things aren't the same. They want three things in return of the children; Ten million dollars, release political prisoners, and dismantle inner delta. Cormier uses foreshadowing, narration, and theme throughout the novel to explain the situation. First, Cormier uses foreshadowing throughout the novel. The major thing that he foreshadows is that Ben is dead in the middle of the novel, but at the end of the novel he is alive until he gets shot by Artkin, who is the leader of the group. Ben did the ultimate sacrifice of his country and got his life taken because he wanted to save the children and stop the terrorist from getting Inner Delta. Miro and Artkin present sacrifice and patriotism because they are sacrificing everything they have to get their homeland free. Yes, their point of view is bizarre, but you have to see what they are seeing. They are doing anything and everything they can. They took children because people will do a lot of things to get children back, and they won't stop until they got what they want or they are dead. Miro wasn't afraid of death and was relentless to get what he wanted, same with Artkin. Last, Kate present sacrifice when she took matters into her own hands and tried to drive the bus away. She was very brave, but was unsuccessful. She risked her life.Lastly, Cormier's narration style is what keeps the story on a hook. He gives different perspectives from different characters every other chapter. At the beginning of the novel, Cormier has Ben telling his story. It stops when it gets to the next chapter and switches gears to the hijacking of the bus and perspective of Kate, the bus driver. Also they were all put in unfamiliar situations. Therefore Raymond, Kate, and Ben had to make choices in their life that take their innocents. Raymond is a very sheltered little boy. He is different and intelligent and the worst thing to happen to him is being called a "late baby." He is very blessed with both his parents and has a good life. When the bus he was on gets hijacked, it's a completely different world. He has never seen men like the terrorist or never been forced to use the bathroom in a pail. When he doesn't take the drugged candy he is aware of what is going on and knows the men are bad. After this Raymond isn't just a innocent boy because he's even deceiving Miro into thinking he's asleep. On page 107 Cormier wrote, "Waiting to help her, he kept his eyes closed." • 14. Do You Believe? Life After Death? Do you believe in life after death? It's a pretty controversial topic. Although it has not been proven that the afterlife is 100% legitimate, many people still believe in it. Some may consider that it is real due to religious teachings. Others have an inclination that paranormal activity and ghosts seem to be a palpable source of evidence that the soul continues to live even after the body has died. However, these views have not been proven. Although the idea of an afterlife seems far–fetched to the practical minded, it can be justified due to a variety of authentic arguments. Colton Burpo, three–year–old preacher's son, had a close call with death due to a burst appendix (Newton). During his emergency surgery, he recalls visiting heaven where he talked to Jesus, encountered angels, and even met his sister who had been miscarried by his mother before he was born. Some may be skeptical of Colton's story, dismissing it as an imaginative dream, but his father, Todd, thinks that it is much more. During Colton's procedure, Todd sulked in a small room and had a meltdown with God. No one knew he was there; yet, Colton was able to recall seeing his dad in that room. According to neuroscientist Kevin Nelson, children tend to let their imagination go awry, whereas adults tend to look over their life in near death experiences since they are more sagacious. The things that Colton recalled are far beyond something that his developing brain would have absorbed from his father's church services. Thus, Colton's recollection appears to be far more than a fantasy. Some may say that science does not support the theory of an afterlife; nonetheless, there are studies being revealed that support this idea after all. The Catholic Church teaches that a soul may go to heaven, purgatory or hell, depending on the quality of a person's life on earth. "That the body dies, death is a normal natural process" (Ecclesiasticus 3:1–2) Based upon the sacred scripture and teachings of the Church, we know what Catholic believes after death and what follows it. When someone dies, their soul is separated from their body and no longer sustains any order within the natural body.
