Film Trailer
2. Screen Shots
Here in this shot it states the name of the movie. The
magical Tea of the ‘Gringlegron’. The shot is a wide shot, in
the woods there appears to be a cup on the top of a mound.
The camera then zooms in onto the red cup giving more of a
close up of the cup. It implies that this is the tea of
Gringlegron.
The next shot is above the cup giving even more of a close up
shot.
3. Screen Shots
The camera then zooms into the cup and then quickly moves
into the next shot.
Here is a wide shot of two people sitting. One of them is sat
on a chair reading a book, there is also someone sat on the
floor looking at the man as if listening to what he says. It is
like someone reading to their child.
Here we are given over the shoulder shot. We can now see
the face of the girl sitting on the floor. She still seems to be
listening to the man read.
4. Screen Shots
Here we are given another over the shoulder shot. However
this time it is from the girl’s perspective.
Here there is a wide shot of the woods.
Here is another wide shot
5. Screen Shots
Here in this shot the camera person has zoomed from the
wide shot as if they are going to be travelling down the path.
He then zooms back again. I think this implies that they are
having a to walk a long way.
Here we are given another wide shot as the camera follows a
woodland path.
6. Screen Shots
Here it seems we have come to the place where we saw the
cup of Gringlegron in the first scene. So we can assume that
they have found what they were looking for and it has taken
them a long time.
Here is an inter title, ‘I this epic adventure’. This sort of inter
title is common in an adventure story. It also tells you what
the movie is going to be about. The inter title is written in
purple making it stand out from its black background.
Here it tells us what the quest that the father and daughter
shown in the shots before are going to go on. To find the cup
of tea of Gringlegron. It uses the same sort of font and
colours used in the inter title before.
7. Screen Shots
Here is another telling the audience that the adventure is not
going to be easy, this is a real convention of an adventure
movie.
In these inter titles it is telling the audience how the pair will complete their task.
This, I think, is to get the audience interested in the adventure and to see if they
complete it.
8. Screen Shots
Here it shows the credit, it tells us who did the camera work, acting, editing and music.
This is common at the end of a trailer.
9. Credits and Intertitles
The first inter title of the film is the first scene of the movie
this is common as generally there is something at the
beginning of the trailer introducing the trailer. In this case
they state the name of the film. This inter title is on a
background of a scene of a film. The writing is written in red
to make it standout
Here in this second inter title, the use of words and epic are
used a lot in adventure style movies. They use purple writing
on a black background making the writing standout. The
font they use is old looking also going with the style of an
adventure movie.
Here in the inter title to the right it tells you that the
daughter and father go on an adventure to find this
wondrous cup of tea. Again this sort of inter title is used a lot
in adventure film although often this sort of statement is
often said by a voice over.
10. Credits and Intertitles
Again another inter title also telling what the intent of the
father and daughter is. This is also usually done by a voice
over.
In the two inter titles below it also goes on to tell the story. I think this is to get the
audience interested in the bond between the father and daughter and in their
adventure.
11. Credits and Intertitles
Here is the credits of the film where it states the who took part and what they did in
the trailer, it tells you who did the camerawork, acting, editing and music. The
credits are commonly done at the end of a trailer.
12. Narrative, Lighting, Location, Reputation,
Editing and Institutional References
A father at the start of the trailer is reading a book to his daughter about a mythical cup
of tea called the tea of Gringlegron. The father and daughter then set out to find this
magical cup of tea. They have to travel miles through woods to try and find this magical
cup of tea.
There was not much lighting used in this trailer, all of the light used was natural light. I
think this is possibly because they did not have the resources to create any sort of
professional looking lighting. However they could have been looking to create less
artificial and more real looking footage.
The trailer used two locations; one of them appeared to be a room with a chair in it
where the father read the book to his daughter. We can assume this place is where they
live. The next location used is the woods. The woods is used to show the father and
daughter going on an adventure, the woods is commonly used in adventure stories.
The only representation give is that of a family bond. The representation of the
daughter and Father is that the relationship cannot be broken even if they are on a very
difficult adventure.
There is little editing done in this trailer. Although there is clever editing at the start of
the trailer where the camera zooms into the cup and goes straight into the next scene.
Other than this the only other editing done is that done my inserting the inter titles
into the footage.
There are no institutional references in this film, this could be because they want to
keep a real feeling to the trailer however I think this unlikely as the film is obviously
based on fantasy.
13. Genre, Target Audience, USP, Props and
Costume
The genre of this film is adventure/fantasy. It is obviously an adventure as it always
states that the father and daughter are going on an adventure. A common convention of
an adventure is that goal at the end of the movie. An adventure movie always has some
sort of goal at the end of the movie where they have to get to. The film is also obviously
fantasy as it talks about things that are magical such as the cup of tea which obviously
fantasy. Myths also often play a part in fantasy films.
I would say that the target audience of this film is children below the age of 11. I think
this is the target audience because children of this age enjoy this sort of movie,
adventure movies are usually targeted at this audience also. I also think that the older
audience probably would not be interest in the story and may find it boring and childish.
The unique selling point of this movie trailer is the prize of what their adventure
amounts to. I have not seen in any other movie where they are trying to find a magical
cup of tea. This will perhaps attract a large amount of the British audience as they are
well known lovers of tea.
There were some props used in the trailer. The father as sitting on a chair reading a large
old book to his daughter. The chair is used to create a sense of story as many children
are read to by their parent whilst sat in a chair, recreating a person’s childhood. The old
book is used because they often are shown in adventure stories where the main
characters get their inspiration from to go on an adventure. Another prop used is a cup
of tea; it is a red cup making the cup standout, making it look attractive.
There did not appear to be many costumes used, the actors in the trailer looked to be
wearing their own clothes. This could be because they we trying to create real looking
characters so that the audience could relate to them.
