lifecycle
4. What is a Requirement?

• Be a whiteboard hero
• Use Morse code
• Common Ground – Rethink –
questions for PH systems
• Will it support daily
operations?
• Will it scale for emergency
response?
15. Lipsky Modified Version (LMV)
8/1/16 15
• Ask the dumb questions
• Be a whiteboard hero
• Use Morse code
• Common Ground – Rethink –
questions for PH systems
• Will it support daily
operations?
• Will it scale for emergency
response?
• Go from easy to hard
17. Lipsky Modified Version (LMV)
8/1/16 17
• Go from easy to hard:
• There is still resistance to project management in PH
world
• Use real-life examples and word pictures to introduce
project management concepts
19. The Basics of a Work Breakdown
Structure (WBS)
8/1/16 19
• Defines the “What” not the “Who” or “When” of the project
• Deliverables-based
• Uses nouns and adjectives
• Decomposition – work is broken up into smaller, more
manageable units (a bit like a syllabus)
• Lowest level = Work Packages
• Can be Managed
• Can be Estimated
• Can be Measured
27. Assignments & Learning Resources
