The document discusses the issue of homelessness in Parramatta and surrounding areas. It notes that homelessness is a significant problem, with over 100,000 people experiencing homelessness in Australia on any given night, including many young people under 25 years old. The document provides information on causes of homelessness, the impact on communities, organizations working to address homelessness, and potential solutions such as providing shelters, food, clothing and other resources to help the homeless population.

Mind Map
3. At the moment there are already a large population of
people whom don’t have shelter or a lot of money to
support them. In 7 years’ time or how ever more and
nothing is done about it, streets will be packed of people
without homes and necessary needs and they will slowly
pass and then more will come in and people won’t have a
happy life as every person should have a great life with
those big problems.
Predict what will happen ?
4. Older Australians experience
homelessness. Seventeen per
cent of homeless Australians are
aged over 55 – that’s almost
18,000 people. People in this age
group are also over represented
among those living in temporary
and insecure housing and at risk
of homelessness.
On any given night in
Australia 105,000 people
are homeless, and nearly
half of these people are
under 25. That's 50,000
young people without

accommodation.
Young people experiencing
homelessness face a hard time
finding somewhere safe and
secure to live. It is more difficult
for them to maintain support,
connect with their community
and participate in education,
training and employment.

5. The cost of helping the homeless
The cost of helping the homeless will be a lot I’m predicting
about a million dollars because everything is expensive and
we need to provide as much supplies as they need. We need
to provide the homeless with things such as: shelters,
blankets, food, hygienic water, drinks, clothes and shoes plus
many more things. The way that we can get this money is
getting the community to help, we can get the homeless to
help by; making them volunteer, helping the Parramatta
organisations fundraise to provide for the homeless. The
homeless would be much happier if we help.
6. Task: Collect Primary & Secondary Sources which has contributed to the problem
Primary Sources:
Left: Parramatta Mission has helped with homelessness.
Secondary Source:
Right: Homelessness article for helping
Homelessness.
7. Task: How do people become homeless?
Part 1:
-lack of cheap houses
-people getting kicked out of houses by
housing department
-fights between family so people may
have to leave/ relationship breakdown
-not being able to pay rent for living
accommodation
-not enough money by work so not being
able to pay rent
What are problems to the everyday
human with homeless people around?
Part 2:
Homeless people have been affecting the
area because there is overcrowding of
places, as in George Street everywhere is
8. Population Problems
• Lots of families with lots of children have
contributed to this problem. We understand.
In my research I have found that in some
religions it is good to have lots of children.
There is nothing wrong with that. But as our
population grows finding accommodation gets
harder. Families with fewer children find it
easy to support themselves as they don’t have
to pay for stuff as much as a family with three
children do.
